Fantastic experience: Recently, I visited VA Family Dentistry for the first time, arriving a little early. They were pleasant and quick to call me back for my appointment. My first experience was awesome.

Fantastic experience: I woke up Monday morning with an achy tooth and swollen gum. I called Virginia Family Dentistry and was asked to describe my symptoms, which I did. I was given an appointment for the very next day. They weren’t able to accommodate me on Monday, the same day, due to inclement weather, snow and icy road conditions. This is one of the best dentistry I’ve experienced.

Fantastic experience: Everyone from the counter staff to the hygienist was professional, caring about my comfort, and willing to explain the procedure. I was ushered in within minutes of my scheduled appointment, given time to settle in, take BP, and start the procedure. Very pleased with every aspect of Virginia Family Dentistry.

Fantastic experience: This dental office is very welcoming and comforting! I've been going to this office for a year now and the staff is always so friendly. My last visit, I had to take my toddler with me to my appointment and she got upset during my cleaning. A staff member came into the room and offered to keep her company and help her settle down while I finished up. The sweet lady played and comforted with my daughter for probably 30 minutes and helped ease my mind. My daughter was also spoiled with a new toothbrush! I love how family friendly they are, and I'm so grateful!

Having gotten dental insurance, I didn’t hesitate calling Virginia Family Dentstry and making an appointment with Dr. Bond. When I arrived, it was like I had never foregone seeing them. The welcoming was so friendly and reassuring. The staff was professional and friendly, as I remembered and Dr. Bond greeted me with his familiar, “ how you doing partner”. I knew I was back where I belonged among trusted, caring, and lighthearted professionals. My examination was thorough and went smoothly with no rush, just friendly empathetic chat. So happy to be back and under their care!

Fantastic experience: Great staff, who care about you as a person! Princess, my dental hygienist, is competent and gentle and never makes me feel uncomfortable during a dental cleaning. The offices are always clean and it’s a cheerful environment. I hate going to the dentist, but this dental practice makes it easy to go for dental care. They are in my coverage group and I don’t get padded dental bills leaving me in debt with fees that are not covered by my insurance. Fantastic experience: Had a filling get damaged on a Thursday night. Monday I was going out of town for work. Mechanicsville fit me in on Friday during an extremely busy day to prevent an emergency visit out if town or having to wait to see their emergency service Saturday. I am grateful for their service and kindness during this issue.

Fantastic experience: Reaffirming my original post.... Going on eight years! I always have a great experience at Virginia Family Dentistry in Mechanicsville, VA. I can be myself, and they can be themselves. Dr. Mark Bond is very considerate and understands the sensitivity of his patients. He also gives his staff room to work and learn. I have never heard him be critical about anything. Dr. Bond cares about the procedures he performs on patients and always does a high quality job, leaving you always feeling numb. :-) On top of all that, you can joke with them and they joke with you. Very laid back - if you know what I mean. :-) Anyway, if you haven't selected a dentist yet, I recommend Dr. Bond.

Negative experience: Post by Robin J - Have been a patient for close to 30 years with this practice (started when they were Baxter Perkinson). Called practice this morning with a dental emergency and was told to come right in. The tech took an x-ray and Dr. Bond came in and seemed annoyed when I couldn't determine which tooth was causing the pain (the two were side by side and in the far back). He left the room and I thought he was working to get me into one of their other physicians to assess my pain only to be left in the room for close to 10-15 minutes and as I went to get up out of the chair I was met by an assistant who handed me a piece of paper with a referral to an entirely different group and was told I could call them and make an appointment. When I asked if this is how the practice treats patients who have been loyal for almost 30 years the response was "I just work here". I attempted to get an appointment from the parking lot only to learn they were close to 75 minutes away from my home and they could guarantee me an evaluation the next morning but that would not include any treatment needed. I went back into the practice to ask was there anyone else that I could see and the receptionist came back with another referral paper to another practice who could not see me. Thank goodness for a family member who referred me to Elrod & Dunham Dentistry in Mechanicsville. I called them and within 30 minutes was in their office and being seen by an amazingly caring and empathetic team. Three hours later I left having had a root canal and temporary crown. I called back to Virginia Family to request my records be sent to this new practice and to cancel mine and my husband's future appointments and not once did the receptionist even ask why I was moving my business. I think Virginia Family has gotten to big to care about their patients any longer, but now there will be two less to worry about.

Fantastic experience: I recently had an implant by Dr. Flanagan and I am in the process of having a second implant. Dr. Flanagan is very efficient in his work and his associates work with him 'like a well oiled machine'. In both cases all has gone very well with no pain. I recommend him without reservation.

Positive experience: Dr.Gorman is HEAVEN SENT! She is so patient & kind.. I truly am forever grateful for how she has cared for me as a patient. Ashley got me scheduled & taken care of many times! If you ever have to deal with the billing or book keeping Angela be prepared for attitude. They waited a week before a schedule surgery to cancel over billing which no one communicated for the last 4 months that I have been making weekly payments on. I’m very disappointed & lost because no one creates a POC & follows through in this office. Angela was very abrupt & rude.

Fantastic experience: I think this is my first ever review on a dental office but it's well-deserved. I have terrible dental anxiety and, after a terrible experience, avoided the dentist for far too long. Dr. Bond was exceptional. He did not make me feel guilty about skipping the dentist, I needed fillings and I'm not kidding when I say this...I didn't even feel the novicaine. That has never happened! Regularly checked on how I was doing...the whole process was great. He worked with Amber and she, too, was great. I'm so impressed with this office.

Fantastic experience: From the time I walked in, everyone I interacted with was very nice and helpful. When I was called to the back, we started with the X-rays, she did a great job on a process that is not the easiest. And the cleaning was great. The did a “power wash”. Which allowed the water spray on my teeth while the dentist was scraping the tartar. I don’t have any issues with getting my teeth cleaned, But the “power wash”made it really great not hearing the sounds. I would recommend everyone I know to go to that dentist office in Mechanicsville, VA!!

After about an hour or so, I was told to be ready with the car as the anesthesiologist was bringing my son out with post-op instructions. The instructions were crystal clear and my son is doing great. I feel that the entire flow went well and am pleased with the clinic.
