Fantastic experience: I have never had less than a five star experience at Urbana Family Dental Care. The staff has always been friendly, courteous , and extremely knowledgeable and professional. Best of all they work with my limited dental insurance to try to keep cost down.

From the front desk to the hygienist to the dentists, they all perform at the highest level and make you feel at home. I highly recommend their office and staff. First time experience with Carley their new hygienist and she provided extraordinary care. She was friendly, professional and did an excellent job cleaning these extremely sensitive teeth. The practice continues to follow stringent post-covid safety measures. Everyone I deal with at Urbana Family Dental Care seem to genuinely enjoy their job…thanks to Dr. Riaaz and his staff. P.S. I showed up promptly for my 9am appointment only to have Peter say "you're a week early." My initial appointment wasn't scheduled until the following Friday. Politely. I asked if they could kindly fit me in, and they sure were cooperative. Very impressive! Peter took x-rays and performed the cleaning, he was thorough and professional. Dr. Riaaz Alie conducted his evaluation and gave me a "thumbs up." I inquired about a nighttime mouth guard due to grinding, which Chelsea was already working on a predetermination to my insurance when I checked out. She scheduled me for a follow up and handed me a little bag with a toothbrush & paste (little things that many dentists stop doing to save money). The office is extremely clean, conveniently located to my home and I am very happy after my initial appointment.

Fantastic experience: I have fairly significant anxiety and my anxiety was worse than usual given that I'm having pain in my mouth and I can't determine the cause. To add to it, I haven't been to the dentist in years because of my struggles with anxiety. As a new patient, they helped me be seen today as early as possible. Everyone from the front office staff to the doctors and nurses could not have been nicer and more accommodating. They were compassionate, understanding, and patient even though I was having a tough time. Really appreciate this practice.

Fantastic experience: I have so much much anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist. Every dentist that I have been to in the past has caused me to have some sort of panic attack - it being caused by anything ranging from a filling to just a cleaning! and i’ve tried SO many different dentists. When I had a molar unexpectedly break, Urbana Family Dental Care were the only ones that would see me in such short notice (like an hour after it happened!) Since going to Urbana Family Dental Care I haven’t had one panic attack, which is a first for me. They make me feel safe and comfortable and are extremely understanding of my anxieties. I HIGHLY recommend this Dentist!

Fantastic experience: I had my crown done a few years ago by a dentist who is nolonger working at the practice. My crown got damaged and I've been able to get it fixed without paying an extra dime. I'm grateful for the awesome team. They've been able to accommodate my needs since I live out of state. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Like many people, trips to the dentist are not my favorite. However, this practice is wonderful. They have seen me for an emergency issue, have treated a few larger/more involved issues, and see me every 6 months for routine cleaning and check-up appointments. Allison is my hygienist - she is somehow quick and thorough while also being super gentle. Because I've worked with this practice on correcting a few issues, I have been treated by each of the dentists. I have nothing but positive things to say - they're all very straightforward, gentle, take time to explain things, etc. The office staff is equally great - specifically, Anna has been helpful with scheduling and insurance/billing questions. I would 100% recommend this practice to anyone.

Negative experience: This review is only for the office not the doctor. I called today to schedule an appointment with them based on the excellent reviews. The receptionist that picked up my call ask what insurance I have, after I reply she proceeded to tell me that they won't be working with my insurance in 2025 and asked if I want to look for another provider that will take my insurance. Since we have still 4 months in this year I asked if I can still get an appointment for 2024 with them. She said that they prefer not to set up an appointment for me since they wont be working with my insurance in 2025 and anyways the next available appointment is for October. I fell that they didn't want my business at all and I was ok with it. Then I asked for her name just in case I call the office again for that October appointment they have. She then was willing to schedule an appointment for October- clearly annoyed but my question. I said I'm ok thank you and ask for her name again then she replied with her name 'Ana' when I asked for her last name, she proceeded to hang up on me. My take on this is that no matter how good the doctor is, if the office staff is unprofessional, your experience wont ever be satisfactory.

Negative experience: After my experience here I am quite surprised that this place has such good reviews. Between their scheduling mishaps, lack of communication regarding obtaining recent x-rays (and coercion into getting new ones done), I was not getting a great feeling from this place. The cherry on top was the doctor telling me that she thought she *might* see something on a tooth that I have a sealant on, so I should go ahead and have a filling scheduled to have it removed and investigated. This sounded way off base to me so I went and got a second opinion, who told me that they did not see anything on the x-ray and that additionally, cavities growing under sealants are extremely rare due to lack of oxygen (cavity essentially gets suffocated). Will certainly not be going back here.

Fantastic experience: These folks are genuinely great. They always make you feel like you are family. I am someone who has extremely high anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist, due to my past. Dr. Alie and his staff do a good job easing that anxiety and their work is top notch.

Positive experience: Absolute home run by this office! Helpful and friendly staff. Got a quick mouth pain appt in as a new patient. Absolutely easy to work with. Office clean, updated, with a small town feel. Will be moving my whole family to this practice. Editing my review: after about 2 years here I am reducing my 5 stars to 3. They have unfair policies about appts. Keep you waiting 45 mins after your appt to pull you back. But if you are 20 mins late they charge you $50. The front desk staff does a great job of not greeting patients. The hygienists are great the dentists are so-so. I can't even remember the name of one of them. They do a great job of making you feel like just a number and that they don't need your business. Actively looking for a new dentist.

Negative experience: The dental care experience here is reasonable (nothing exceptional) , but I am disappointed with the outdated appointment reminder system. I would love to have a more modern system to make it easier for patients to manage their appointments, especially dental appointments which are scheduled 6 months in advance.

During my appointment we discussed many things and it turns out this couple volunteers for Mission of Mercy. Dentistry pays well, but this family decides to give of their time and personally help those who need. While my sutures are excellent, these folks offer more than exceptionalism!
