Fantastic experience: I am a fan of Academy Dental and have been for several years now. This past week, upon showing up for my routine appointment after receiving several text reminders, I was greeted by a very pleasant front desk (sorry, I did not get names) receptionist followed by 'Debbie' greeting me in the waiting area and introducing herself and walking me back to the 'chair'! I share these not-so-trivial points as I had an exceptional experience...again, and that was at 7:25 in the morning! That is my point...it is like I just wrote, every time I encounter any and every aspect of ADC, I am met with professionalism, service orientation, education and timeliness/promptness. It's so impressive and consistent. Keep on! Thank you, All!

Fantastic experience: 5 stars for certain over my last 2 visiits, an emergency crown and cleaning. Dr Gallagher, Tish and Carrie were all exceptional and provide the quality care that I have come to expect from ADC team. Every dentist and staff member is on board with the team approach. Highly recommend. Another great experience with the ADC team. I just fractured a ceramic crown by biting into a solid fragment in a power bar. I called Monday afternoon to see if there were any openings for a crown replacement and a temporary crown and I was worked in the following day with Dr. Krohnfelt and Tish as his assistant. Both team members treated me like I have been accustomed to for so many years now. Always a friendly competent team approach resulting in a quick positive result. Very happy with both Dr. Krohnfelt and Tish's efforts. Great team. .Again a 5 star rating. Always prompt and efficient and very friendly team. Got to meet new dentist Dr. Kronfelt and he seemed to fit in with the wonderful team at ADC. Love the team approach. Now 3 superb dentists to provide a wide range of services.Excellent care and service for many years. Seems everyone that works there enjoys job. Superb results. Always impressed with Dr Gonzales and Dr Gallagher. All their support staff is very prompt and courteous. I have Carrie as my hygienist who always does exceptional work. All of the nice ladies at the front desk take an extra step to be polite and informative. Just had semi annual cleaning with Carrie and am always impressed at team approach ADC utilizes. Dr Gonzales came in and reviewed xray and fit in invisalign check up too. Always good team work and a friendly and efficient environment from everyone.

My hygienist, Carrie, is very experienced and Knowledgeable. She informs me of all dental procedures (x-rays)with educational care advice as well… Many pleasant visits!

Negative experience: The care is great at Academy Dental. The only problem that they now have is they are out of network For Delta plans which is very unfortunate especially now since everybody has been dealing with higher prices and inflation. for this reason, I only give them two stars.

Fantastic experience: My first dental visit with Academy Dental care was extraordinary! They were polite on the phone, got me in quickly for a chip repair. Then, from the moment I walked in, I was thoroughly impressed with every single staff member and all their little touches to elevate the patient’s experience. Dr. VanLeeuwen had phenomenal bedside manner and took her time to explain the root issue of what I was experiencing. She then gave me a plan I felt comfortable with to treat it. Diondra was also incredibly personable, kind, and reassuring. I am highly impressed with my entire experience with Academy Dental and will definitely be recommending them to all my loved ones! Fantastic experience: To my mind, dentist's offices are not my favorite places, but ADC is the exception to that rule for me. It's beautifully organized and beautifully run. The personnel from top to bottom couldn't be warmer or more professional. The management is seamless, from the outstanding computer services to the front desk greeters. Negative experience: Based on a recommendation I saw on Reddit, I called this office to make an appointment. I explained my purpose and scheduled a tentative date to visit. When I mentioned that my dental insurance is Delta Dental, the staff member seemed annoyed and informed me that they do not accept Delta Dental, meaning I would have to pay out-of-network. I asked how much the difference would be for out-of-network payment, but she responded abruptly that it “depends on the patient and situation” and ended the call. If you have Delta Dental insurance, I would not recommend calling this office—it was a frustrating and unproductive experience.

Not only is he exceptionally skilled, but he’s also one of the kindest and most caring professionals I’ve ever met. Dr. Krohnfeldt has helped me through two difficult dental situations—one quite traumatic—and he made each experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. He went above and beyond to coordinate my care, personally ensuring that my appointments and referrals were perfectly aligned with other providers. He stayed in close communication with everyone involved and even gave me his personal cell number so I could reach him if needed. He consistently checked in and followed up, which meant the world to me. After being with my previous dentist for nearly 30 years, I was nervous about making a change when he retired. But from my very first visit with Dr. K., I knew I was in excellent hands. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine compassion truly set him apart. Fantastic experience: I had significant dental work done and could not have gotten through it without Erika and Dr. Krohnfeld. All of what needed to be done was completed brilliantly and my teeth feel great. What impressed me most about this practice and especially Erika and Dr. K, was how respectfully, politely, and calmly they worked together as a team. They make every effort to make you, the patient, feel comfortable and at ease, explaining everything to you as the go.

Fantastic experience: I want to start by thanking Dr. Chelsea Gonzales and her right arm assistant Jeniffer, for the remarkable and professional dentistry work they performed on me. They are compassionate and made sure I was comfortable and pain free. I now have multiple crowns and veneers that saved my teeth, making eating and chewing possible. Fantastic experience: Half of the porcelain crown on my molar broke off! Naturally it happened on a Friday. I called Academy Dental and they got me in on Monday at 8 am. My dentist was Dr. Shane Krohnfeldt. He was kind, listened, and understood exactly what I needed. He is highly competent and professionally trained in LVI dentistry. My dental assistant was also very kind and nice. I love this place.

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed seeing my dental hygienist, Berta even though I wasn't scheduled to see her. I saw a different dental hygienist for the first time in over 20 years. Liz made me feel comfortable and she did a good job. If I should ever need a replacement for Berta she would be the one. I traveled from Colorado to get my cleaning from ADC.

Fantastic experience: Academy Dental Care is the best! From the moment I entered the building to the moment I left, I received excellent care. First of all, I was greeted warmly by the front office staff. After a very short wait, I was kindly ushered to the exam room where I received a thorough exam and painless cleaning, all thanks to Stephanie! When Dr. Krohnfeldt came in, he too greeted me with kindness and respectful professionalism. It was very evident that he truly cared about me as his patient. Dr. Krohnfeldt’s exam was also very comprehensive. He asked if I had any questions or concerns about my oral health and gave me a great description of his findings after his exam. Fantastic experience: It was my first time here and there’s no better experience I’ve had at a Dentist. I’ve always had anxiety and I haven’t been treated correctly for some of my treatments which have let me to have bigger dental problems… They were straight forward and kind, gentle and very professional. My anxiety melted away right when they started. They’re costumer service is off the roof! I am glad to go back to the dentist office next time and that’s a first for me! Fantastic experience: After lots of research I found Academy dental to be the only dentist office in Albuquerque that did Bioclear bonding of black triangles. I saw Dr. Shane and I am beyond pleased with the results. He made me feel very comfortable and talked me through the process. To top it off the office is beautiful and I really enjoyed bird watching out the window while waiting for the procedure to start. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Fantastic experience: My dental phobia is real. And I’ve had it since I was little. Seeing Dr. Gonzales at Academy Dental has really helped me get my phobia under control. I no longer require xanax to go to the dentist! When I first started seeing Dr. Gonzales in May 2024, I had no idea of the amount of work I needed done and how bad my bite was despite me having traditional braces as a kid for four years. I learned then I would need braces to correct my bad bite and protect all the dental work I was about to have. I spent many months getting an implant, crowns, build ups, and a couple filings before I could get into my braces. Here we are in March 2025 and I am 3 days into my braces. I am so thankful for Invisalign and Dr Gonzales and all of her incredible staff!! With as much as I have been to the dentist now, and with all the work I’ve have done, I’m pretty sure my dental phobia is gone. Thank you Dr Gonzales and Academy Dental!

When we moved here from Colorado in the Spring of 2023, we had no idea which dentist would be a good fit for us. I read many reviews online, but it was overwhelming with so many dental practices listed in the area. I finally decided on Academy and am so glad I did. The Front office staff, Hygienists (mine is the amazing Stephanie), Assistants and Dentists (I usually see wonderful Dr Kronfeldt), all make visits to the dentist much more pleasant than I have ever had anywhere else! Fantastic experience: I was referred to Academy Dental by a friend after two other providers were unable to complete my restoration for two front bottom teeth. Dr. Krohnfeldt had no issues with problem solving the area and making an appropriate restoration plan that saved additional teeth and gave me excellent results. He and his staff especially Jen have given me back the confidence that there are superior providers available. Everyone in the office is kind and professional and provided the best possible care. They have obviously spent a lot of time and effort to keep up with modern techniques and equipment. Dont even hesitate if you are looking for a dentist in Santa Fe or Albuquerque. You will not be disappointed. Even Dr. Gonzales ensured when my crown came in that I received a call that day and my appointment was moved to the next day. I could not be more pleased with the outcome.

Fantastic experience: Wow! After years of dealing with significant TMJ symptoms (literally couldn’t eat sometimes from the jaw locking up, daily headaches, pain) took the leap of faith and tried a fairly new procedure that treats TMJ with an orthotic appliance and TENS treatment. The first night I wore the appliance I slept four straight hours and had no headache at all the next morning. Can’t thank Dr. Kronfeldt enough for such a dramatic improvement in my overall well-being! His genuine concern for my health and expertise in his field is commendable!

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to have found Academy Dental Care with Dr. Vanleeuwen as my new Dentist. They are very thorough with their first visit. I had a follow up appointment for a new crown, and Dr. Vanleeuwen with her assistant, Diondria, made me feel so comfortable. You can tell they truly care about their patients. Fantastic experience: Academy Dental continues to impress me. They always have the latest equipment and educate themselves on the most updated dental care, making each visit as stress free as possible. Yesterday, they finished off the appointment with a warm lavender washcloth to freshen up with! If anyone receives a filling the dentist always calls to check up that evening. My kids started going there as little children and continue to go back as adults because the level of care is exceptional. I never hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist office.

Fantastic experience: Cannot say enough good things about Academy Dental. From the front desk to the doctors, everyone is extremely professional. I had an old crown crack and they fit me in immediately. The cleaning was very thorough. Great vibe in the office.

Negative experience: So incredibly disappointed and sad by how I was treated by Academy Dental's office "manager" Gabe and by their punishing fees. I was seen by Academy Dental for a crown, and despite the fact that they charged three times the amount of any other dentist, I hoped the quality would match the price tag and agreed to have the work done. After paying $2000 dollars out of pocket, and learning the day I had the work done that the only way they would "guarantee" the crown for the next 6 years was if I continued to see them for all dental care, I went in 2 weeks ago for a routine cleaning. Imagine my surprise when, at the end of the service I was charged not only a "co-pay" which I have never heard of for a cleaning when insured (i had already paid for and met my deductible with an initial visit a few months prior), but I learned that I somehow had another $500 balance due for the crown. When I asked why I was told the charges were "for services related to the crown that insurance didn't cover". How odd? I called my insurance company. . .they showed the balance they didn't pay, the one I would be responsible for, as matching the amount I had ALREADY paid at the time services were rendered. Must be a mistake right? I asked Academy Dental to review and give me an itemized reciept detailing what the new charges were. . .never recieved a thing. Left multiple messages for "Gabe" who is apparently supposed to handle these situations . . .ghosted. Requested my records and details of charges be emailed to me as it seemed Gabe might be avoiding speaking to me. . .gave him an easy opportunity to explain things via email. Again, nothing. So at this point, it appears the $500 of extra charges were unfounded and sadly it appears this office is only interested in price gouging, and taking you for all they can. I will also be pursing a case through the NM Board of Dental Health as they have clearly defined regulations about transparency, records, and fair pricing. All over $500 that I should NOT have been forced to pay. . .on top of $2000 dollars I had willingly already paid.

Positive experience: Only a four star because I feel whenever I call or have questions about my dental amounts, I get an attitude every time or she tries to fake it and act nice who is Jessica the business administrator. But other than that I enjoy my dental hygienist who is Monica who is very knowledgeable and polite, she’s the only reason I want to come back but when I do I have to deal with Jessica which I prefer not to anymore.

Fantastic experience: I had the most wonderful experience at Academy Dental from the moment I walked in. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I was listened to and my concerns were addressed. I was treated with respect and care. Everyone was very knowledgeable and professional, yet friendly. I am so happy that I found Academy Dental. I highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: The entire team at Academy Dental Care was amazing. From the ladies at the front desk, to my hygienist, Liz, to speaking with Dr. VanLeeuwen, my experience was one of if not the best I've ever had at a dental office. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and never once made the process feel rushed. In addition to their expertise, the communication between team members was impressive. You can tell that the folks that work here are passionate about what they do and really want their patients to feel valued. If I could give them more stars I would!!

Fantastic experience: Stopped in at the recommendation of a coworker. I live out of town and needed to be seen ASAP and the staff was extremely accommodating. From the front desk to the doctor, everyone was extremely polite and made sure I was comfortable while explaining their process with detail and care. Fantastic experience: Today, January 4, 2024, Carrie did an excellent job on my cleaning both upper and bottom denture which is permanent!! She gets a five star!!!! Carrie does a wonderful job! She explains everything and reminds me of processes I should be doing! Five star June 14, 2023 Carrie did a great job cleaning my teeth and I always feel better after my cleaning. I have the Four on One bottom dentures so it is difficult to keep clean.. I have scheduled an appt with Dr. Buttner in July and started on the meds for my infection. No pain, Thank you!! Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the number of "state of the art tools" Academy uses to best examine in detail a person's dental health. Berta was fabulous! She's very professional and knowledgeable which she carries off with humor and friendliness. I felt very comfortable discussing my dental issues and history with Dr. Krohnseldt. And, everyone at the front desk was great with a shout out to Jessica!

Fantastic experience: July 2021: I was looking for a place to whiten teeth. Upon arriving at the practice, I was greeted as if I had patronized the establishment for years. I believe Karla did my whitening and although my teeth are not as white as I had hoped; I was informed of other options. All in all, I was treated so well that I decided to switch my routine dental practice. December 2021: My first visit as a new patient was very thorough. Monica and Dr. Krohnfeldt took their time with me to ensure not only my comfort but to address any and all concerns regarding my dental care and therapy. I feel like I am in excellent hands. November 10, 2023 - Service is ALWAYS excellent! Couldn't be HAPPIER! Thank you. August 2024: Meet Berta Dental Hygienist. My first time with Berta. As always Academy Dental makes you feel like one of the family!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience! Such a warm and beautiful environment with an excellent and welcoming staff. My wait was minimal and care was prompt! Carrie, my hygienist was wonderful! She was thorough, gentle and very kind. My dental assistant was Erica and she was also very kind, efficient and very focused on my comfort through the procedure. Dr. Krohnfeldt was patient and following a thorough exam, made certain that all of my questions or concerns were addressed. I would highly recommend Academy Dental Care to family and friends!

Fantastic experience: Berta is the best Hygienist! Kind , patient, and has a sense of humor. Goes above and beyond, and makes sure gums and teeth are thoroughly cleaned. Fantastic experience: This place always goes above and beyond the basics of care. From the drink options in the lobby to the friendly staff who all communicate with each other so seamlessly! Who else gives you a soothing warm towel at the end of a cleaning, these lovely folk! I also feel like they are trying to work with me to help me help myself in my oral care. Even though it's out of network for my insurance I still choose to come here because of the exceptional care.

It's amazing how many of the team has been there 5+, 10+, even 15+ years, so it's got to be a great place to work as well. Fantastic experience: Academy Dental is so refreshing. When I go, I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes. All the staff and very polite and friendly. They have taken care of some major dental work for my family in compassionate, expert and the efficient ways. One time my tooth cracked in half on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Dr Kroenfeldt called me back in less than a half hour. He allowed me to contact him on his cell phone where I attached pictures of my tooth taken with my cell phone. I got an appointment for Tuesday morning after the holiday weekend to get it fixed. All I can say is WOW! That’s SERVICE!! Thanks! Nancy Lacher
