Positive experience: I choose to pay for Artisan Dental's insurance plan so that I can go there rather than a medicaid covered dental office. I choose this because of Artisan's existing COVID precautions, including air filtration in every room, and their willingness to mask with high risk patients like myself. I was disappointed at my last appointment when the hygienist did not have a properly fitting n95 to wear, but rather, a loose KN95. Being a healthcare facility, Artisan should have n95's available to wear for patients who request them (like every other healthcare facility). This is an issue of disability access, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I look forward to returning to Artisan, but would appreciate that extra level of precaution for high risk patients, in this high risk environment.

Negative experience: Went in today for a cleaning and they told me I had 7 cavities and gave me an estimate of ~1.4K even though I have delta dental and should def be in network. I decided to get a second opinion as my mom works in a dental office in Illinois which is where my previous provider was before moving to Madison. Never have I ever not even as a kid have had that many cavities. Total scam. As I read reviews I see that this place is notorious for botching fillings. Decided to cancel all my upcoming appts and revisit my childhood dentist even if that means driving 2 hours to Chicago. Will not be going again.

Negative experience: Totally botched my filling. I had absolutely no pain before the treatment and now I continue to have pain when chewing years after what was communicated to me as a simple filing. Very disrespectful and dismissive when I try to communicate my concerns and continued pain.

It truly was and has been a pleasant experience. Dr. Dayal is an upbeat, knowledgeable caring dentist that makes you smile during every interaction. My dental hygentist, Jenn is the top of the line. She makes your day with a personality and skill set that cannot be topped by anyone. Needless to say, if you don't go in with a smile, after working with Jenn, you will come out with one.

Fantastic experience: I came to Artisan after a very painful oral surgery that has left part of my jaw numb. Going to the dentist was no longer an important part of my health, it triggered some serious anxiety. I am so glad I shared that with the hygienists and dentists at Artisan. They took such good care of me. It's taken a few years, but they helped me get past the anxiety. I honestly look forward to spending time in their calming atmosphere and with the staff. I have great respect for Dr. Andersons commitment to the environment and Artisan's patients.

Negative experience: I started going to Artisan Dental in 2016 on the recommendation of a coworker. I was a patient of Artisan for several years, over which timespan they “diagnosed” and treated more cavities than I had had over the preceding 25+ years, combined. After getting so much work done that my mouth barely felt like a mouth, I finally got several second opinions, all of which disagreed with Artisan’s diagnosed “cavities.” I switched to a different dentist, but the damage had been done and I have been paying the price ever since. The few fillings that I had done as a kid? Holding up great to this day. The fillings that Artisan did? Well, they are so big and were apparently so poorly done that they are all failing, and I now need to get three crowns. I wish I had never set foot in Artisan’s fancy lobby, and I write this review in the hope that others don’t make the same mistake of being fooled by the shiny exterior. The work that Artisan does is - at least in my experience - excessive, poor quality, and leaves patients worse off than before they received dental care. I wouldn’t wish Artisan on anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here since 2014. Over the years it's been a friendly environment -- until recently, there was a staff person who always recognized me and greeted me by name. They've been very accommodating. My health is poor and I'm still taking COVID precautions. Last time I was there, I asked for the dental assistant to greet me with a mask while leading me to the room. When I went back for a filling a few weeks later, the dental assistant was wearing a mask, as requested. Thank you so much! Dr Dayal was my dentist at my last visit and also came into our room wearing a mask. They were both very kind and patient. I also take longer to numb and they make my appointments longer to accommodate that. Overall, lovely experience. Also, for folks wondering about COVID mitigation, there's info on their website. Each patient room has a filter than cleans the air every six minutes. It's not zero risk when cases are extremely high, but it does cut down that risk significantly. 6/25/25 update: They're still just as kind and thoughtful. Continued protocols from before. My dentist this time was Dr Anderson, and she also came in wearing a mask. The person at reception thoughtfully donned a mask while doing my checkout.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Artisan Dental for over a year and seen for cleanings, a filling, and a crown. These have been, by far, the best experiences with dental care in my life. All the staff from billing and front desk, hygienists and technicians, and especially the dentists are attentive, knowledgeable, kind, and truly invested in providing exceptional care. Artisan also has the latest technology and tools that help decrease appointment time, pain, and stress. My complete crown took less than two hours (often you have to come in for multiple appointments over weeks) and was nearly pain and stress free—special thank you to Dr. Dayal! Finally, I love that Artisan is a B Corp working to not only be a force for good for their clients but in their industry and the world.

Fantastic experience: Artisan Dental came highly recommended by a friend. I made an appointment on very short notice to diagnose an issue I was having under a molar. They were kind, clear, efficient, and the cost was totally fair. They also have a great in-house dental plan that I took advantage of. Best dentist experience in years.

Negative experience: Very bad vibe. They sell me a bottle of mouth rinse for $20 that Amazon has for $5. It's part of the cost of my "free" cleaning. I buy Artisan Dental's annual insurance since my first visit is more than the premium if I don't buy it and it's free if I do buy it. You know the deal. And I know it is not real insurance. It's simply a membership fee like Costco's. I get that. And every other dentist does it. The insurance entitles me to 2 free dental cleanings that cost just $67 each. Yep! I know from their website the owner is a proud serial entrepreneur, so again it is what it is. I schedule a cleaning. It goes well (hence the 2 stars). At the end, the tech hands me my free toothbrush and toothpaste and a 16 fl oz bottle of CloSYS mouth rinse. The front desk hands me the $67 invoice for the "free" cleaning. $47 is for a 60 second "laser" treatment at the end of the 60 minute cleaning. The little light show is meant to flush out those last itty bitty crumbs of tartar. The other $20 is for the bottle of CloSYS that I thought free with the toothbrush. I pay their bill. Curious, I later price the CloSys on Amazon. I can get 4 bottles for $20. Artisan marks up the stuff 300% to defray the cost of a cleaning they promote as free. I am disappointed in Artisan Dental. Fortunately, that $20 mouth rinse with its 300% markup makes me ponder how much I can trust their suggested treatment plan. I wonder how much the $4,000 cost is marked up. I'll try another dentist and find out.

Fantastic experience: I have had a lot of dental work in my lifetime and I can honestly say the team at Artisan Dental is the best! They go above and beyond to provide personalized care and make sure you are comfortable and have a great outcome.

Negative experience: Similar to others experiences, this place will tell you that you have cavities when you do not. I went there for the first time after moving, after not having cavities in many years since I was a kid, they suddenly told me I had four. I was skeptical and they showed me on the x-ray and I ultimately just decided to believe them and get them treated. The fillings were put in poorly and I had to go back in to get them adjusted and I struggled with tooth sensitivity ever since. I continued to trust them as I have never had negative experiences with dentists before. I floss daily (sometimes multiple times a day correctly) and brush twice a day. I use an electric toothbrush and even use MI paste for good measure. After a year (and my insurance renewed), they again told me I had multiple cavities! This time, I had a gut feeling something fishy was going on. I went and got a second opinion and alas, even after pointing out the spot the other dentist told me was a cavity, they told me my teeth looked fine visually and even on the x-ray. I will say the staff is super friendly and they do explain everything to you, but I just can’t justify doing unnecessary treatments even if my insurance covers it.

I am now 2 years on their own insurance plan (no employer option) and will be moving 2.5 hrs away and will continue to return here for their services. *UPDATE* This place is wonderful. I've been here twice for different procedures, once with insurance and once without. All costs were spelled out clearly in both contexts. Welcoming and friendly staff. Efficient. Get patients involved by explaining what they are doing, and encourage questions. 8.28.17 updated..super smooth and welcoming visit once more! All smiles :)

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE. I went here for the first time this month and they tried to tell me I had EIGHT cavities. They said I had four fillings needed in between my teeth and they were charging it as eight because it “affected two teeth since it’s in between”. I decided to get a second opinion from my trusted dentist when I visited back home. They told me I had zero cavities. This place is a scam.

Fantastic experience: Juliana and Dr. Mark are amazing, as is the front desk staff. Entire office was very patient with us for my son’s baby tooth extraction. It was his first extraction and the tooth was well rooted around the adult tooth, and he was quite anxious and scared. Juliana took the time to explain every step, and both she and Dr. Mark were informative and very supportive/encouraging. I’m so grateful for our experience today and would absolutely recommend this dental office!

Fantastic experience: My experience with Artisan Dental is the best interaction with the dental world I have had in my 72 years. I am a retired MD, new to Madison who ended up on a weekend with a top front incisor crown that came off a day before I was to go on vacation. I left a message Sunday night about my situation and hoped I would hear on Monday. The office opens at 7 am and at 7:03 am I got a call offering me an appointment at 9:30. When I got there the staff was friendly, I was seen promptly and Dr Rehermann fit me in to his schedule to replace the crown, not just do a temporary fix. It was a great match for color which is tough for a front tooth and I can not say enough in praise of the kindness and professionalism of this practice. Also I received help with trying to recover some money from insurance which they submitted!!

Fantastic experience: Extremely capable staff at the dental office. Dr. Andersen is wonderful. The hygienists are as well. So are the people who work at the reception desk and with the insurance companies. . The offices are incredibly clean and beautiful with natural light all over.

Positive experience: Everything was a great experience until paying and rescheduling. The employee told me my insurance was inactive according to their automated system. After showing the employee my online account with the insurance company which states “ACTIVE” highlighted in green and even handing her my phone to look through my account, she still insisted that my insurance was inactive. 15 minutes after I left the office, I got an email saying the issue was resolved after they called my insurance company. When I called my insurance company, they said my insurance has been active for a 1 1/2 years. I understand there can be issues with automated systems and insurance, but instead of the employee saying “we can work this out together. Here are the steps” I spent 15 minutes trying to prove to her that I do in fact have insurance and her not believing me when in those 15 minutes the issue could have been resolved. Before I scheduled an appointment, I checked to make sure that they were in my network. I filled out the forms giving my insurance information. If they were out of network or if I didn’t have insurance, I would have never scheduled an appointment. I don’t understand why they would allow me to get services done if they thought my insurance was inactive only to tell me I would have to pay out of pocket after I already received services. This experience made me hesitant to come back but everyone gives them great reviews and recommendations. I will come back, but if I get treated in a similar manner, I may need to find a different dentist because I don’t want to leave the dentist office crying every visit.

Fantastic experience: I called on a Monday for a cleaning and a tooth appointment. They got me in the very next day. They combined the two appointments together. I had my favorite dentist. Dr Nicky and Lyndsey did everything in her power to make it happen so thank you. It was a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Anderson is an outstanding dentist. Her facility provides a relaxing, supportive environment for dental work. Her staff is top notch as well. My husband and I followed her from a previous facility when she started her own business. My granddaughter is living with us this summer while Artisan Dental provides major dental work for her. She has extreme fear of dental work because she has an enzyme deficiency which makes some forms of anesthesia ineffective for her. Dr. Dayal was able to determine what anesthesia would be the most effective and Ella is tolerating everything very well.

Fantastic experience: Finding a new dentist is always an uncomfortable time, but these folks made it completely pleasant, and easy. I'm happy I've found them! From the ease of scheduling, the painless (really!) cleaning, and the carefully explained details of my current dental situation, all was handled beautifully. The background music was soothing, the hygienist was friendly, warm and caring, and the dentist was knowledgeable and upbeat. Everything was explained, including the financial aspects, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they don't cost more than my previous provider! The respect and care they show are just what I need.

Fantastic experience: I have been with Dr. Andersen since my youngest is 1 yr old and now she is 16. I followed her when she moved to another clinic location even when it is farther from us - so that says a lot. Now, the location over the years has 2 additional dentists and have met them and taken cared of me and they are both knowledgeable and great at what they do. Staff are very friendly. The whole family is satisfied with the services provided.

Fantastic experience: I just moved into town from out of state and made an appointment for an exam and cleaning. The night before my appointment, one of my teeth fractured and put me in a bad situation. The next morning I called and told them what happened and they where able to reschedule to accommodate. I am very impressed by the staff and facility. Especially Jonlyn, who went above and beyond by finding an oral surgeon who could get me in the next day.

Fantastic experience: I always have a good experience at Artisan Dental, but today was particularly exceptional! Nicole was my hygienist and she was very gentle and very kind. I don’t get anxiety about dental visits but I would recommend her specifically for anyone who does!

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with the lack of respect and professionalism from Artisan Dental on my visit 2/14/24. They caused me to waste 4 hours of PTO time, plus 1/2 hour of pay, because they didn't tell me my dentist left and her replacement isn't qualified to work with denture patients. I wasted my time and money with no results. My denture just needed the same tooth as before put back on and a small adjustment made to the bottom that is rubbing. Fantastic experience: My visit was to replace two old (over 30 years) crowns. I was greeted promptly and had a very short wait for my appointment. The whole procedure took about 2.5 hours, but they made the crowns in-house. I have always needed to make two appointments for crowns in the past and have a temporary crown between appointments. I was very happy with the treatment I received.

Fantastic experience: The staff here is always so friendly. Services are easy to schedule and appointments are always timely. All the staff from the hygienists to the dentists to the front desk staff are very knowledgeable and our family feels that we are getting the best dental care around when we leave Artisan Dental!

Fantastic experience: The staff at artisan are AMAZING! I had severe dental anxiety when I first started going to Artisan. The staff there do everything possible to make the experience positive and anxiety free. They are transparent about what work needs to be done, and thoughtful about how to prioritize things when you can’t do everything at once. Dr. Dayal is the absolute best. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great experience for someone who is a little phobic of dentistry. Artisan does a great job and listening and exhibiting professional work. They made me feel comfortable and aware of what they were doing. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Very professional and efficient. Their only negative is that their appointment wait times are very long. At my last appointment, I even booked my next and it was seven months out! But they set me up on text alerts for openings and I have got appointments for sooner dates I wanted. Staff is very nice both in person and on the phone, even recording my availability and time preferences when I wanted to be alerted for an opening. Once, I called and found they had openings that were not texted to me. I am not sure what happened there, but you may want to call as well.

Fantastic experience: A fantastic dental team. Best dental experience, ever! I had front veneers replaced after 25 years. Dr. Anderson and her team were so experienced and kind. It was much easier than I thought it would be, as I have some dental chair anxiety!~. I wish I had done it years ago! I am so happy with the results. Dr. Anderson wanted to get it perfect and she did!!

Fantastic experience: Just had another great visit at Artisan Dental! My hygienist, Jen, was so thorough, yet gentle and did a great job. Dr Dayal did my exam and again was so thorough and kind. They both make it fun to go to the dentist! I also appreciate all that Artisan Dental does to be sustainable and philanthropic. Highly recommend!!
