Fantastic experience: Received a call to schedule in a timely manner and was able to get in quickly. The scheduler was very accommodating of my daughter’s school schedule while on winter break. Office staff was friendly. Procedure went smoothly and the whole process was efficient. Got a call the next day to check on my daughter and the caller was kind and patient while answering all of my “mom” questions. Would highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: IF you have to have a tooth extracted, this is the place to go. Very prompt, professional, and kind. The price was a bit steep (not having dental insurance) but just glad the problem with the tooth has been taken care of. Would recommend to others.

Positive experience: One slight hiccup with Dr.McKenzie after having oral surgery regarding questions that weren't answered during the day of surgery. I left without any answer to my questions. The following day I left a voice message explaining my concern and within a short couple of hours I received a call back from their office personnel explaining my concerns and remedy. Other than that hiccup, I would recommend Mid-State Oral Surgery & Implant Center.

Fantastic experience: This was possibly the best experience ive had at a medical office of any sort. Their staff are all so kind and comforting. The lady who did my IV for my wisdom tooth removal took so much care and was so compassionate despite my severe anxiety around needles. The other girl who took my blood pressure and set everything up before they put me under was so kind too. it really was a great experience all around and more affordable than I had originally assumed. The surgeon is so thorough in explaining what will happen and aftercare. i felt like the folks here really cared.

The office was prompt and caring. The nurses getting everything together were pleasant and worked efficiently. I was in and out of there in no time, too. Negative experience: For some reason anesthesia wasn’t covered by my insurance. I thought that was all I had to pay so I gave them my credit card information to pay it and then on the day of the procedure they have me sign some paper work on an estimate of what may have to pay not really knowing an exact number. I would have liked to have known what amount I would be billed for before the procedure. I’m on disability so I’m on a very fixed budget and need to know costs before hand but I needed the biopsy done so I didn’t have a choice but to sign and allow them to do it. I still have no clue what my out of pocket bill will come up to. If doctor offices what bills payed at time of service I think they should know how much my bill will be at time of service.

Fantastic experience: Dr. McKenzie is amazing. He was recommended by a friend and I’m so glad!! My daughter had all four of her wisdom teeth removed last week & the entire process was so smooth! Beforehand she was nervous about pain after the procedure but Tylenol and ibuprofen was all she needed!!! Thank you so much Dr. McKenzie for your excellent work!

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and very patient and attentive doctors. My daughter came in from college with a locked jaw 2 days before Thanksgiving and not only did they work her in for a consult but they did a procedure to get her opened up the same day. We have now been back for a continuation of care and Dr. McLaughlin had the patience of Jobe talking my daughter through all of her options as well as pros and cons of each. Really, I have been so impressed both times with how the whole staff has gone out of their way to give thorough, insightful, and attentive care. Thank you.

Negative experience: The experience of trying to find a vein to install an IV before my tooth extraction was excruciatingly traumatic for me. It took two nurses to find a vein. I was stuck with a needle six times before my telling them if they didn't find a vein the next time I was through....at that time they checked by ankles for a vein..... finally they got a vein in my ankle....it took them over 35 minutes to locate a workable vein! I know I am a very hard stick and I told them that. The nurses were very compassionate to me, but I was really traumatized. I told them they were very compassionate to me, but wow what a painful experience I had to endure the digging of my veins. The tooth was extracted successfully and I am now recovering from the surgery. The cost was extremely high.....it cost me $1,010.00 to have my tooth pulled!!!!!!! If I had known it was going to be that high I would have gone to another dentist to pull it!!! I know the tooth could have been pulled for much much less!!!!! Good luck to all who goes to have !! Surgery!!! for a tooth that could have been pulled much cheaper from another dentist!!!!!

So, two old tooth extractions and bone grafts, which my dentist will soon turn into bright shiny implants, and SHAZAM, my smile will transform this 68 year old into chick magnet! Dr. Matthew McLaughlin And his statf at midstate were quick to get me in, do an xray and pull the tooth while also making sure I understood everything that was going on. Everyone there was super professional and friendly!

Fantastic experience: First let me say because of several traumatic dental experiences, I am horrified of going to the dentist especially when they say extraction! I would hands down recommend this doctor to anyone who is like me or maybe you are cool with going to the dentist. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The doctor was awesome. He explained everything to me in a way I understood what was going to happen and really calmed my nerves. The nurses were great! Fantastic experience: I loved these people. So very friendly. Had me in gave me something to calm me. Was waiting on the doc to come in and they were like he's in a consult then we're ready to go. He came in they had did the iv prior he asked if I was ready I said yeah he said let's go. Next thing I remember was them asking if I was ok. I asked were they finished they said yeah. We thought i was ready slightly set back i became nauseated so they set with me till it past. And out the door I was. Got a call a few days later to make sure everything was going as planned. Had to call them a few days later had something happen i wasn't sure on the lady answered me and reassured me , but made sure I wasn't hurting. All in all was a great place ,caring staff. And I am saying this as a person who is terrified of the dentist.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about the WONDERFUL experience we had with Dr. McLaughlin and staff. Our daughter, Katie, is a 35 year old adult with special needs. Katie is non-verbal and functions on a pre-school level, so having her wisdom teeth removed was something we have dreaded for years. She has always become combative when coming out of anesthesia. Dr. McLaughlin and all of the staff really listened to our concerns, and the procedure couldn't have gone any better. The anesthesiologist and other staff had Katie up and coming out the door (on her feet) almost before we knew it! Her recovery at home for the past 48 hours or so has been much easier than we would have ever thought. THANK YOU ALL from all the Sweet family!

Negative experience: I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed nearly 5 years ago. mind you i had to go back a month later to get “bone” removed from the left side of my jaw. now 5 years later i have a piece of my wisdom tooth, that a doctor from midstate, told me was just left behind on the right side of my mouth. when i went back to get it removed i was going to be charged 450$ for fixing a problem that was never my fault, nor did me or my parents know anything about! With this being said make sure they are providing the services you are paying for, before paying for anything!!!

Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom teeth extracted here on 8-12-2025, and I can’t say enough good things about the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel completely at ease — they were warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. My dentist explained each step of the process clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The procedure itself was much smoother than I expected, and I left feeling well cared for. They even gave me thorough aftercare instructions that made recovery easy to manage. Less than 24 hours later, I’m already feeling better than I thought I would — all thanks to their skill and kindness. If you’re nervous about dental work, this is the place to go. Fantastic experience: They didn't make you wait long for your appointment. They were very knowledgeable, respectful, and kind. I really liked everyone there starting with the gentleman at the front desk. And the doctor you could tell was very compassionate to what you're going through. If I have any other needs I would definitely go back there again. They already called to check on me this morning to make sure everything was fine, and to see if there was any further questions I had, and told me if I had any issues, or problems at all just let them know, and I could come back in to be checked. If you need anything done, that's where you need to go because they are definitely efficient there.

Fantastic experience: A great place to get dental work I was sceptical at first but I must say I had all my teeth pull 26 teeth to be exact and the be honest I'm super surprised it healed with No complications and the pain was to a minimum the dentist was great he walked me thru the procedure before hand it was a great experience and I would recommend anyone to this location in Dickson I have no teeth and I can eat anything the next person can so don't be scared give mid state oral your honest chance and choice to give you there best. Fantastic experience: Best experience at the dentist of my life! I’ve always feared going & avoided it. However, due to a serious accident, a tooth needed removal ASAP. I was able to get a same-day appt, a thorough consult (of my options/what to expect) with a surgeon, & a good experience with the billing department (with a complete breakdown of service costs) The entire staff was incredibly professional & compassionate from the moment I walked in until I left.
