Fantastic experience: This office was just lovely. We are a frequently moving military family plus my husband is a military dentist (so he has some behind the scenes knowledge; but also can’t legally see our kids himself) and had our first visits today. The doctor was so kind and personable. The staff were patient and personable. One hygienist (Danielle) was obviously experienced and knew how to help my child that had high anxiety. Dr Dixon forever had my heart when he DID NOT try to “upsell” me on orthodontics for my son. If I could give six out of five stars I would.

Fantastic experience: We had our second visit today and no tears from my toddler! My son has a history of crying at doctors appointments and getting his hair cut so I put off taking him to the dentist in hopes of moving back to SD so he could be seen at this office. I had major mom guilt for putting off my sons first dentist appointment but where we moved from didn't have good pediatric dentists. The last thing I wanted to do was make going to the dentist traumatic for him. He was a little scared at his first appointment because it was new to him but he had his second appointment and didn't shed a tear. I honestly couldn't have asked for better staff or a better experience for my son who can struggle a little with appointments.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Peak is so kind and helpful, from the receptionist, to the dental assistants, to Dr. Dixon. The team helps ease any stress our little one had, and the rooms are very kid friendly making it feel like a safe environment for our kiddo which helps make it all less scary! So glad we found Peak!

We’ve been going here for maybe 7 years ‍♀️. And everyone who works there is so smiley and helpful. My kids actually like going to the dentist- which was NEVER the case. And he has the best coffee machine . I always look forward to it. (I know, the little things this mom values .) Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this dentist! My kid sits right through it no problem. They were also very accommodating when it came to scheduling her appointment same day, just to a later time instead of canceling. The waiting area has coffee for adults and a little play area and the chalk board with first time patients name on it, is so cute!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful office with kid-focused design, kind and competent staff, and caring dentist who is very clear and discusses options with the parents. --- We were already referred here by our regular dentist to keep an eye on some potential concerns for my toddler's teeth. However once there was a fall with trauma, we wanted to get in quickly. Through the online booking, we were able to be seen next day (thank you last minute cancelations!). I also called the office to speak to the dentist for any immediate advice for my toddler. Dr. Chris called back right away and helped provide some tips and directions for the best care for our toddler's injured mouth. Then the day of the appointment, parking was plentiful, check-in was smooth, and there were toys and a kid-friendly movie playing in the waiting room. We didn't wait long before being taken back. The staff was phenomenal despite my little one being extremely loud and strong in fighting the x-ray. Dr. Chris came in once we were settled in the room and the exam was efficient and quick. Findings from the x-ray were clear, options were presented, and I was asked if I had any questions. Upon checkout, I was given the recommendation for treatment at the next follow up, the price of the treatment in advance (a paper copy I got to take with me) and my appointment scheduled. It was such a quick, but not rushed, process from start to finish. I appreciated all of it. This being my first toddler dental trauma incident, I was an anxious parent, but everything was handled so very well.

Fantastic experience: Excellent!! The entire staff was so patient with my kids, followed the kids lead on what they were and weren’t comfortable with. Very professional but also family friendly. Lots of toys and books for the kids in the lobby. Cool tv screen with glasses and head phones for kids that need extra for being at the dentist. It was clean, and ran very smoothly. The entire staff seems to work well together and really put the patient and their family first. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our visit with Peak Pediatric Dentistry! The staff are all very kind and willing to answer questions. The dentist himself sat down with us, before he even looked in my son’s mouth, and explained what he was looking for and the steps that would need to be taken with each result. They also gave my son a balloon turtle (which he loves) and stickers!

Fantastic experience: My 5-year-old has experienced a few medical emergencies, which have left him with a lot of anxiety around doctor and dentist visits. Unfortunately, his previous dental provider focused more on volume than quality, which only made things worse and left him feeling uneasy. We were referred to Peak by my own dentist, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Today was my son’s first appointment, and I was truly impressed by the entire team. From the moment we walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming and patient. It was clear they genuinely love working with kids. They created a safe, supportive environment for my son — and as a parent, that means everything.

Positive experience: The staff is kind, and while I have zero doubts this dentist is great at what they do and trustworthy; I do think they are overpriced compared to other dental offices I have used in the past. We have 4 children and have lived all over the country, so this was not my first rodeo with dental treatments and cost estimates. My child is still during cleanings and as I found out, during treatments as well... so sedation is not required. Only numbing and if necessary, laughing gas. I did seek a second opinion on a treatment plan, and was able to get the same dental work performed for $500 cheaper at another renowned 5 star pediatric dental office. Perhaps location is a big factor in treatment cost, as Carlsbad is an affluent area. 4 stars because the dentist is good at what he does, docking 1 star because of cost of treatment services. I am not sure what xrays and cleanings cost because admittedly my insurance does cover them. So this review is strictly for treatment/procedure cost (fillings, etc). For example, I was quoted a hefty sum for two fillings. Well over $600 for my co-pay at this location. This is with the military's family dental insurance plan (United Concordia), for example. Perhaps the desk staff miscalculated my quote estimate, but if so I am sure this would be handled internally to make sure accurate quotes are given moving forward. If you can afford costly treatment plans without issue or your child does not require treatment and only needs the biannual dental cleanings - this location I do recommend because your child will be in good hands. If you are middle to lower class and need to pay attention to cost for treatment services - I do suggest looking around because there are affordable options elsewhere. Please do your due diligence as a parent and read Google reviews if you do seek treatment elsewhere, of course. Don't just go with an affordable dentist who has poor reviews. I always look for 4.6 stars and up, personally. Again, I do this think dental office is very good. This review is strictly for the parents who need more affordable options than this office can provide/offer patients.

Fantastic experience: My kids feel so comfortable here plus the staff goes out of their way to make sure they feel safe. My 3 year old and 5 year old really enjoy coming to their cleanings and check ups! I had another dentist say my son would need to get his teeth pulled or capped. Here they have been doing fluoride treatments every 3 months & his teeth have been improving! Couldn't recommend them more!

Fantastic experience: My kids love coming here. They literally jump for joy when I tell them we’re going to the dentist. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with smiling faces. Stephanie is super helpful with any insurance questions and makes scheduling a breeze. They’re super transparent about costs and always upfront about the services being performed. I have 5 kiddos, so getting us in and out in less than an hour is unheard of anywhere else! Danielle and Paola were the girls that cleaned my kid’s teeth. They were so patient, kind and gentle. Dr. Chris is truly one of a kind. He never over diagnoses, is never pushy, he always puts the needs of your kiddos first. I know my children are in the best hands when visiting Peak. We’ll never go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Update 5 years later, I brought in my son. Another wonderful experience. My son LOVED that he could watch a movie while getting his teeth cleaned. Dr. Dixon is conservative in his approach and awesome. All staff were great too. great dentist and staff. My anxious daughter did very well with Dr. Dixon's gentle approach. Melissa at the front desk is extremely helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: This pediatric dentist office was amazing! I took my shy 3 year old and from the moment we walked in, the focus was on making the kids feel comfortable. The check in ladies were wearing fun dress-up like glasses, a cute show played and inviting toys were in the waiting room. When it was our turn, the dentist was so sweet and patient with my kiddo! She made my kiddo feel really comfortable and I was shocked how much she was able to get him to do! At 3, I had little expectations, but she actually cleaned and flossed his teeth. At the end, my little one got a new tooth brush and begged to stay. The whole way home he kept saying how much he liked the dentist and how brave he felt that he went. I would highly recommend this pediatric dentist office!

Negative experience: We just had a really disappointing experience with this office. It is unfortunate as we were excited by the positive reviews and initial interactions. However, we are now at the point of having to start over and look for other options as they refuse to complete the work recommended for my daughter. She went in recently and needs a cavity filling, filling repair and tooth extraction. Not fun stuff, but perfectly normal for a dentist to handle. During the visit, when my 9 year old daughter found out that a needle and drill would be necessary, she had a little bit of a breakdown, started crying and would not allow the work to be done. She didn't throw a fit or react physically, she was just reacting emotionally to a scary situation at a brand new dentist. The situation was handled well in the moment with the dentist suggesting the option for sedation work to be done at a different facility. We also appreciated that we were not charged for the visit since no work was completed. We discussed the option of using general anesthesia and reached out to the recommended surgery center to find out more info. We were willing to pursue that option if necessary. However, after speaking with our daughter in discussion to ask how she would prefer to move forward, she had calmed down and decided that she would be fine to go back to the regular dentist (who she really liked) and have the work done there. Anyone with a young child probably knows that this is not an uncommon situation. She has in the past had similar circumstances with shots at the pediatrician or other hard/scary things where she initially gets scared, but then is able to process and take care of it without issue. When we called Peak Pediatric back to schedule her appointment, they informed us that they absolutely will not allow her to have the work done at their office since the GA referral was provided. We explained the situation and that our daughter is willing and able to have the dentist do the work and would prefer that, however they would not allow it and simply told us that we could bring her back for cleaning services after the other work was done at the surgery center. We are not going to unnecessarily put our child at risk under general anesthesia (who would?) when she is perfectly willing and capable of having it done by the dentist. Now we will have to find another dentist to start over with which is a shame as my daughter really liked Dr. Chris and was excited to continue going there moving forward. My son also needs quite a bit of work, which we will also need to go elsewhere for.

Fantastic experience: We love Peak! They are extremely kind, give our kids tons of time to warm up before doing any sort of brushing etc, and the environment is clean and bright. Highly recommend them to any families with kids!

Fantastic experience: Both my children go here after an awful experience at another dentist. The front receptionist are super nice, welcoming, and just give off great energy. The location is clean, organized, and not chaotic. It’s a breath of fresh air knowing my children are under the care of great people. Also they have T.V’s and headphones for each of their patients if they want to utilize while getting taken care of. The doctor is great, informative, and helpful. All of the staff are friendly and compassionate . Would rate so much higher if i could.

Fantastic experience: We met Dr Dixon when he was working in Camp Pendleton with a limited schedule. Then we followed him to Peak Pediatric! We LOVED him!! We moved out of state & all his work and recommendations worked out GREAT for my son! I was hesitant on the space maintainers he recommended but I am so glad I TRUSTED him. My sons dental care is so good now due to what Dr Dixon did when my son was younger.

Negative experience: I recently had an unfortunate experience with Peak Pediatric Dentistry that has left me disappointed and questioning their commitment to customer satisfaction. As a loyal customer for the past two years, I have always valued their services and appreciated their flexibility whenever I needed to reschedule or inform them about potential delays. However, my recent encounter with their missed appointment fee policy($192.00) has left a sour taste in my mouth. I must admit that the fault lies with me as I mistakenly noted down the appointment date on my calendar as Wednesday instead of Monday. When I realized my mistake and contacted Peak Pediatric Dentistry, Rachel, the staff manager I spoke with, initially only agreed to cut the fee in half. While I appreciate her effort in trying to accommodate my situation partially, it still reflects poorly on the overall customer service approach of the clinic. Given my long-standing relationship with Peak Pediatric Dentistry, I had hoped for more understanding and leniency in this particular instance. After all, I have consistently shown my commitment by proactively informing them about any changes or delays in the past. It was disheartening to feel as though profit took precedence over customer satisfaction during my conversation with Rachel. Unfortunately, this incident has led me to question whether Peak Pediatric Dentistry truly values its customers. While I understand the importance of maintaining a fair business model, I believe that compassion and empathy should also play a significant role when dealing with loyal customers who rarely make mistakes. As a result of this disappointing experience, I have made the decision to seek dental care for my children elsewhere. I will actively look for a dental practice that demonstrates a greater understanding of their clients' circumstances and places a higher emphasis on customer satisfaction. In conclusion, despite my long history as a reliable customer, Peak Pediatric Dentistry's inability to waive the missed appointment fee fully has left me feeling undervalued. I hope that they reconsider their policies and prioritize customer compassion in the future.

Fantastic experience: Peak PED Dentistry and Dr. Chris is truly the best part of moving to Southern California. His office is incredible, top notch and from the moment we called to book our next appointments, professional and kind. Madison, my girls hygienist was out of this world. My 4 and 6 year old girls can be a tad overwhelmed during a dental visit and at most, my 4 year old has had a tooth brush put into her mouth so coming off a move and major transition across country- I didn’t expect much but hoped for the best. Madison got full x rays and cleanings out of my both my girls… yes, lay back… googles on… cleaning tools in mouth. She was so KIND the whole time and never got flustered with two high maintenance patients. Dr. Chris is truly a gift to patients & parents. First off, he is through. After examining teeth, he asked if we had any questions and took the time to answer or address anything. Lastly, this is a personal opinion but we are active duty military and I have found a great deal of difficulty finding dental care for me and my family in SoCal (I believe it’s an insurance thing). Peak PED Dentistry was the best healthcare experience we had and I truly attribute that Dr. Chris and how I can tell, he puts patient care above all. Lastly, my girls actually asked when they could go back to the dentist just a week after going! Thank you, PPD!

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience for our 18-month-old son's first dental visit! The staff were extremely friendly and we were seen right away. Our hygenist Liz quickly cleaned and checked our son's teeth, and Dr. Chris came by and checked our son's teeth afterwards. Both of them did so professionally and kindly; I was impressed by their patience and demeanor. I would definitely recommend them to other parents!

Negative experience: Very disappointed, I have no complaints with the service itself, but I was charged $50 dollars because I didn’t take my daughter to a suggested appointment that was scheduled (six-months out), 50 dollars does not seem that much but I guess someone is getting good money out of no-shows. People’s time don’t revolt around you (Peak Dentistry), and for the record the appointment was merely a suggestion, booked six months in advance, and appointment was not explicitly confirmed by me.

Fantastic experience: Looking for the best Pediatric dentist in North county? Peak is the place. I have five kids, so I have spent a fair amount of time here. Dr. Chris and his staff are excellent. We have been coming here several years now. Through routine cleanings and checkups or the occasional dental emergency, they are the best we have been to. Speaking of emergencies, I have never had a problem getting my kiddos a quick appointment if I was worried about something. Military friendly as well. I can't recommend them enough. A+

Dr Dixon and his team remind me of the wonderful dental team I had for 22 years straight when I was growing up. The continuity of care is great. The ability to book back to back appointments for my kids is easy and we are usually done before the second appointment technically starts. My children have healthy teeth and are learning healthy habits. I never feel scolded or like a bad parent because the team understands how difficult it can be to get kids to brush and floss or quit thumb sucking or say goodbye to the pacifier. My daughter giggles and skips as she goes to the exam chair and relax while she gets to watch some brief cartoons on the ceiling. I would recommend this practice to any family.

Fantastic experience: I’m very happy with the whole experience. Everyone was friendly, patient and professional. My four year old was having some difficulty getting his teeth cleaned, and the dental hygienist was very patient, explained everything she was going to do beforehand, showed him all the tools, devices, etc. and tried different techniques. Dr Dixon was also very excellent. The facility was clean, modern and obviously geared towards children. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have been taking both of my kids to Peak for about a year. Dr Chris has always been friendly and gentle with my kids. At our last visit we had Lizz and she was very good with our kids, they didn’t cry when she cleaned their teeth. We have always had a good experience here!

Fantastic experience: They are so intuitive with small children. I have a 2 year old that was terrified and a 5 year old that was hesitant. They made them feel comfortable. My 5 year old did great (even thought he was dreading it all day) and didn’t even need me in the room since I had to be with my 2 year old in the other room. He screamed during his cleaning, but we got it done and they assured me this was normal. Meanwhile my 5 month old was crying this whole time they were so accommodating of it all! The TVs on the ceiling while getting your teeth cleaned are great and the play area in the waiting room are great distractions as well. I wish all pediatric dentists were like this!

They are also very efficient at getting us in and out of there, without feeling rushed. I have never once felt like they were suggesting unnecessary treatment and am confident my children’s dental health is in good hands. We have been to many dentists over the years since we are a military family and Peak is by far our favorite!

Fantastic experience: We love this dental office so much. The staff is so good with kids, especially if your kids are nervous or scared of the dentist. My young children love going to get their teeth cleaned and checked. The dentist and staff are also wonderful at asking questions, listening to any concerns, and explaining to the kids what they are doing as they do it. Cannot recommend this place enough. 10/10.

Fantastic experience: Peak staff are awesome! A couple days before our appointments, we were able to switch our appointment time for later in the day, no problem. We love the waiting room with all the toys for the kiddos. The staff are always so friendly with the kids when cleaning their teeth. The best part is the TV on the ceiling for the kids to watch while getting their teeth cleaned. We schedule our future appointments before we leave. They also send text and email notifications regarding upcoming appointments. As a Momma of three, I especially love that they get the two older kiddos in at the same time. The appointments go so quickly and we don’t have to wait for one to finish, before the next kiddo can go back. I would highly recommend Peak Pediatric Dentistry.

Fantastic experience: We had the best experience! I was so nervous switching dentists because we moved but stumbled upon Peak and saw how highly recommended they were so I gave it a go and I’m so glad I did! My son fell face first and had to have a tooth removed so we needed to be seen quickly, and they made the whole entire process an absolute breeze! They got us right in to do scans and then scheduled the removal and made it such a pain free experience all around. They made my son feel safe and cared for and kept him calm throughout the entire procedure! We will absolutely be coming back for all our “regular” dental needs and I’m so glad we found the Peak team!
