And they all helped me to feel very comfortable. I received good information as to what dental work I needed to have done and I had a great cleaning by Lela. An all around great experience for this gal who does not typically like dental visits!

Fantastic experience: Today I had my first visit to Jarrettsville Family Dental and it was ALL GOOD! My main contact in the office was with Steph who was my hygienist. She was thorough and friendly, professional, yet sensitive! Halfway through the cleaning, Dr. Stern came in. He checked my X-rays and did a cursory exam of my teeth and confirmed that I looked more like a human than a dinosaur. Steph then finished up my cleaning, removing all signs of my bad habits: wine-drinking and an occasional cigar. I checked out at the front desk and was given a follow-up appointment for six months... The appointment was exactly an hour long and I actually look forward to my return!

Negative experience: Second worst dental experience ever, unfortunately. Whatever sonic cold water intensive cleaning device dentists are using now is enough to make anyone quit going. Today was the first time a tech used it on my teeth and I finally told her to STOP!!! If you have sensitivity issues make sure you mention that before anything happens. I mistakenly thought she had read my chart but apparently she hadn't and said she would have proceeded differently if she'd known. I've had great experiences with this practice until this visit so I'm not sure what went wrong today.

So I sent an e-mail with my concerns to his office and Dr. Stern called me that day. It took me several more days to schedule an appointment and the day I called he actually answered the phone and had me come in at 1pm that dat to exam me. I will be seeing him again in 6 months. Highly recommend her. Need to give a huge shout out to Dr. Stern as well. The last day of vacation, my son was frantically looking for his mouth guard and his ortho retainer. It was wrapped up in a paper towel and we realized it was mistakenly thrown away. I called Dr. Stern as soon as we got home. Spoke to him directly and he assured me he could replace both of them, no need to call the ortho. He is a one, stop shop and I highly recommend him and his staff. Very friendly and welcoming! A++++

Fantastic experience: Dr. Stern and the staff are great. I was kept comfortable during the procedure. Alot of work was done in one visit, wich was convenient for me. Afterwards the doctor followed up to see if all was well. And it was!

Negative experience: My dentist retired after 35 years, tried these guys out... booked online, where they ask you 1000 questions about yourself and insurance. Go get teeth cleaned and x-rays. Hygienist was awesome, extremely nice and thorough. Went to check out and got bill for $351, I thought it was weird but office staff assured me my insurance would send me a check for the amount. I was never told that they didn't accept my insurance, received $153 from my insurance and paid out of pocket the rest. Called up to see if they could do anything about the bill, told me he'd call me back by end of week. Still waiting for that call back. Be careful when you book because they won't tell you if they accept your insurance but they will bill you. I should have asked more questions before leaving but was being naive about trusting the process of insurance and their acceptance of mine.

Fantastic experience: Had to get a root canal and crown this past week. Entire procedure, crown and all, was done in just over 2 hours and absolutely pain free! I was told that I would be sore, but honestly, I didn’t even take any OTC pain meds. I was %100 fine. Not to mention, doc took great care of me financially. Put me on a plan I could afford. Had the surgery Wednesday and on Friday could eat anything with no pain whatsoever. Again, NO PAIN. Absolute wizard. Will continue to come here and recommend to everyone I know. He gave me his opinion on what I should do. The ladies at the front desk offered to call an endodontist to expedite the root canal procedure. I was also impressed by the up to date equipment. I believe that Dr. Sterns will be my primary DDS.

Fantastic experience: Dr Steen is an excellent dentist. He is my top choice for any dental work needed. I give him an A+ rating. I very picky about my dentist, especially since my Father was a dentist. My last dentist (if you can call him a dentist) I give him a rating of F or lower.

Positive experience: This is an easy 5/5 rating if you are ambulatory, otherwise there are handicap accessibility issues. This is a great dentistry, all the medical staff are top-notch, friendly, and caring. The aging building, on the other hand, has handicap accessibility issues if you get around with a walker or wheelchair. Getting to the front door of the building. > This is not a modern building that has ready accessibility from the parking lot to the front door. There is a long, sweeping concrete ramp that goes up to the front door. My 2 year old powered wheelchair was not able to go up the ramp due to the amount of incline. Pushing the wheelchair up under human power is difficult. On the plus side, there is a very long and extremely sturdy railing on the right side of the ramp that is just outstanding (if some asteroid ever destroys the Earth, that railing will still be intact). > There are no handicapped-designated parking spots, or if there are any, the paint has faded. I’d guess the lot is big enough to accommodate 10-12 cars, but without any of the XL wide designations, vans/vehicles with built-in side ramps cannot use them to exit patients from the vehicle. Handicapped parking spots on either side of the front ramp would be a logical change. Getting into the building. > This is not as easy as it should be, unless you are ambulatory. I did not see any automatic opening doors/push a button to open electronically, so getting into the building is, ideally, a 2 person job – 1 person to open the outside door, and then the patient can take the wheelchair or walker through it while the other person gets the door closed. Doing it as a 1 person exercise can be a challenge, but the staff is first rate and they will get over to the doors to help you out. > The doors themselves seem to be standard in size, not the extra wide ones one sees these days. I don’t know if bariatric wheelchairs would readily fit through the doors, but it seems like still another access problem. Inside the building. > The inside layout is fairly typical, a very small waiting room, check-in/checkout desk, and then patient rooms down and narrow-ish corridor. The doors into the patient rooms are narrow, and the patient rooms are small. To bring a wheelchair or rollator/walker into one of the rooms would be tricky. In the patient room I was in, you can’t sit directly down onto the back of the free standing dental chair because the armrests are locked in place. I am used to having the armrest swing so I can simply sit down near the backrest of the chair. Not so this case, had to sit down on and slightly past the armrest, and then make my way up to the headrest area. It may have simply been a chair that was that needed some repair or whatever. Regardless, it was tricky to do and unnecessarily painful. > The waiting room has basically all low chairs, so if you have difficulty getting up from one you are kind of out of luck. There are no directors chairs or other type of higher seats that I saw. If you have trouble getting out of chairs, then consider this facility as having no waiting room. The staff is very accommodating, so I’m certain if you call and tell them you’ll be waiting on your car they’ll let you know when to come in to avoid some of the accessibility issues.

Fantastic experience: Family loves Jarrettsville Family Dental! Sure, we schedule our regular visits 6 months out, but twice we’ve had semi-emergency visits and we were offered same day appointments. During the most recent visit, Mama Bear wanted to rule out anything going wrong below the so Dr Stern ordered an Xray without hesitation. He reviewed them on the spot and put my mind at ease. On a different visit, we were referred to a different, pediatrics only, practice so my 4-yr old could have sedation that Jville couldn’t offer. I’m grateful that they’re willing to refer a patient for HER own good, rather than just looking out for their own bottom line. And for my own 43-year old smile, I get great cleanings from a great hygienist and appreciate the thorough exam from Dr Stern. Best of all, every question I’ve asked (and there have been plenty) were answered confidently, kindly, and kid-friendly when necessary.

Dr. Stern saw a broken filling I had forgotten to ask about on a tooth and filled it while at the same appointment I had for cleaning only.

Our dentist retired and Jarrettsville Dental was recommended to us by family members who were obviously pleased with the service provided by Jarrettsville Dental or they would not have recommended them. Fantastic experience: Best dentist ever! Quick, efficient very accommodating to urgent needs. No waiting for 45 mins in the waiting room for an cleaning appointment. Before I was a regular customer I had a wisdom tooth bothering me they got me in that afternoon and pulled the tooth in 10 mins after work. Dr stern is the best dentist I've ever been to!

Fantastic experience: Nobody really likes going to the Dentist, but if you have to go, you will not find a more caring, competent staff then at Jarrettsville Family Dental. Dr. Stern and the assistants, hygienist, and office staff are all unfailingly cheerful, professional and polite and are masterful at minimizing the discomfort of the experience. I'll never enjoy going, but I am confident that I am in excellent hands while I'm there.
