Negative experience: If you're going to work out dental plans with new patients, make sure you call them back. That's your job.

Fantastic experience: This may be a bit lengthy, but I want to give credit where credit is due. Dr. Dereck and the hygienist (didn't get her name) that took care of me yesterday were phenomenal. Both were incredibly caring and understanding to my unique situation. They made me feel very comfortable, took the time to listen to my concerns, and did not make me feel rushed or judged in anyway. And after that visit, Dr. Dereck even ran out to the parking lot to catch me as I was leaving just to ensure I was doing ok and to say goodbye. This shows the care he has for his patients. And this was just one encounter that stood out. Every visit prior has been very positive and pleasant. Each member of the team is highly skilled in their own area of expertise, and together they provide truly outstanding dental care with superb results. I was well taken care of by all...not only from Dr. Dereck himself, but from the hygienists to the receptionists...the whole staff is so friendly and made me feel very valued and supported. Their compassion truly made a difference. I have a health condition that can unfortunately make dental procedures unpleasant due to no fault of the dental team. Not only did they do everything to make me feel as comfortable as possible, but they did so with ease and tolerability. They have always been very attentive to my unique needs. And because my situation makes it challenging for them to do their jobs, they have never made me feel like it was a burden. I am so grateful to Dr. Dereck and the staff for taking such great care of me with a smile on their faces. Needless to say, I would highly recommend The Dental Wellness Center of Maryville to anyone seeking their exceptional dental expertise alongside the kind of personal care and comfort they happily provide every client.

Negative experience: I started coming here after moving back to the area, and I’ve been disappointed from the start. This office feels more like a boutique — you get very little, if any, time with the actual dentist. On my first visit, they found a cracked tooth. I had no pain, but they recommended a cap. During the procedure, the hygienist (who seemed more focused on chatting with the dentist - looked like flirting to me) placed the cap, and I was in severe pain afterward. It took nearly a year of visits between them and an endodontist and a root canal before resolved. Since then, I’ve refused to see that dentist again, and things have been fine — but the overall setup hasn’t changed. The hygienists seem to rotate constantly, while the three male dentists bounce from room to room with little patient interaction. To make matters worse, they now hold a $75 appointment fee on your card in advance. My husband’s appointment was actually canceled by them because he hadn’t confirmed it — so does that mean we should get $75 for an appointment they canceled? It doesn’t seem fair or patient-focused. Overall, I’ve never been happy with their level of care or communication. I’d recommend looking elsewhere if you want skilled, consistent, and attentive dental care.

Negative experience: I was scheduled to have my teeth polished on the 22nd. Im usually early and I have had to wait for my technician as much as 10-15 minutes, without complaining. I got caught by a train. Which caused me to run around 12 minutes late and I call the office while I was waiting for the train to pass and told them that I was runing late. I was told to come on in, which I did and I was then told that I couldn't be seen. On another incident, I failed to reply to a text which never indicated that if I didnt, that I would be canceled. I Showed up and was told my appointment was canceled because I failed to respond to the text. I liked the office, but the customer service is very disappointing. The staff will hold you accountable yo the minute or they will refuse to serve their clients. But when they run late. They simply say. SORRY!!

Fantastic experience: Today was my very first time here. The staff are very polite and courteous with smiling faces.

Gentle and caring, he is a fabulous dentist! I have had two old crowns replaced and have had NO pain! It's a miracle! Highly recommend this group.

They made a temporary for me overnight and were able to replace it with a permanent crown the following morning. Fantastic experience: When you are 74, people provide services, but usually just what you need - none of the extra bells and whistles. Not so at the Maryville Dental Wellness Center…. At age 9, I broke a front tooth racing my bike down a hill. Even after several replacements, I never received a crown that matched my natural teeth. Then in my 30’s, I had a poorly done root canal that also was badly matched. The root canal left infection in my jaw which resulted in some bone loss. All in all, my dental experiences have not been happy…. For me, climbing into a dentist’s chair was like climbing into an electric chair. And I hated my teeth! When I went to the Maryville Dental Wellness Center, I was just scheduled for a cleaning. Then I met Dr Dereck Hill, a new dentist with the practice. Bless his heart, he did not let my age stop him from addressing the appearance of my teeth. He came up with a plan to remedy the infection and the poorly matched crowns that I had been dealing with for decades. It took three months, but Dr. Dereck would not settle for “good enough.” He wanted everything to be perfect. He gave this little old lady the same care and attention as if I were a movie star! Today I am smiling with all the confidence in the world, thanks to this caring young dentist! And I hope I am around a good many more years to share this smile….

Negative experience: Neither the dental hygienist or dentist did a very thorough job. I was in the dental chair for maybe 15 minutes. They told me that they wanted my credit card number to be added to their system and would maintain a $75 balance just in case I failed to show up for an appointment. I have used this dentist for years and have not ever been late and have always called to cancel appointments days before if necessary. I will be looking for a new provider Thanks

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful place and very professional! I went in with a crown issue and it was fixed all in the same day. No temporary crown, they made the permanent crown there and cemented it all under 3 hours. Dr. Pat Murphy was very caring and made sure I stayed comfortable the entire time. I have a hard time staying numb but he listened to me when it hurt and gave more medicine. His assistant was very good and thorough! I highly recommend this facility and have been coming here for all my family dental needs for the past 8 years with no problems at all.

Fantastic experience: I had been away from the area when my bridge cracked and then broke off leaving 2 teeth unprotected. When I got home, which was just a few days ago, I called Dental Wellness Center. They got me in the following morning and I left with a new bridge in place...not a temporary. I was so happy. Thank you to everyone who made this happen! Everyone is friendly, very professional with lots of smiling faces. Fantastic experience: I started my journey with Dental Wellness Center of Maryville approximately 14 months ago. I purposely waited to give comments to ensure I was able to provide an appropriate assessment of my experience. When deciding to find the right Dentist for me, I too found myself on Google reading comments. I reviewed a comment on this site from someone I previously worked with and highly respected. During the time, I had no idea he had interactions with Dental Wellness. I know Dave Catlin would not mind my mentioning his name. Dr. Huelsman and the entire team are just simply FANTASTIC!!! I would love to mention everyone's name, but I know I will leave someone out and I just can't do that! The professionalism and the way the team interact with each other and their clients is something you just don't see any more in a Establishment such as this. The staff truly showed me they care about my well being. There were NO HIDDEN AGENDAS! The team communicated everything with me before and after my procedures. In the past, I literaly HATED going to the dentist. Now, I don't cringe! I look forward to keeping my appointments. I've been in Customer Service for over 30 years and I know what it is suppose to look and feel like. My experience has been EXTRAORDINARYLY WELL!!!!!!!!!

Dani was the best at cleaning my teeth and preparing me for what needed to be done to correct my dental issues, followed by Olivia the next week when I had my procedure done . Amber coordinated all of my visits and was incredibly kind. She took all the guesswork out of the insurance paperwork and genuinely cared about me and my relationship with the Dental Wellness Center. Negative experience: Extremely Disappointed and Concerned I went to this dental office for a routine check-up and was shocked when I was told I had six cavities that needed immediate filling, totaling over $400. The staff was very pushy about scheduling the fillings right away, which felt more like a sales pitch than genuine care. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion—and I’m glad I did. The second dentist confirmed that I had zero cavities. Not one. This raises serious concerns about the integrity and honesty of this practice. Either there was a major diagnostic error or they were trying to profit off unnecessary procedures. I won’t be returning, and I would strongly recommend others get a second opinion before agreeing to any treatment here. Dental health is important, but so is trust.

Negative experience: At check-out, an assistant was going over my home instructions when a receptionist attempted to get additional funds from me. I was very confused, at my consult I applied for CareCredit because my total was over $2k to reestablish dental care (which I 100% financed through CC). Mind you, my mouth is numb from just having a procedure done. I was completely embarrassed trying to discuss this during this state but was able to resolve this easily. Dental Wellness did end up covering this extra charge which was explained due to an error from the employee who signed me up gave me a cost for payed in full vs applying for a line of credit. This situation wasn’t the worst but was still very unprofessional timing. I was not late for this appointment, they could have easily had this taken care of before the procedure. The outstanding bill was not communicated to me prior by phone, email or text. The next appointment: I scheduled an appointment for a Wednesday at 8:30am for a regular dental cleaning. Normally they call and text the week before as a reminder, which they did not for this appointment. I did not realize they forgot this until the reminder call sent the week of the appointment. On Monday morning (the week of my appointment), I received my first and only phone call reminder (not a text) around 11am during my work hours. I do not have availability to speak on the phone until I get off work which is 6:30pm. Dental Wellness closes at 5pm. Which is obviously too late to call back and confirm-again no text to respond to. I was on a surgery shift the following morning at 7am. When I checked my phone around 9am, I was sent my first text saying my appointment needs to be confirmed 24hrs prior. A second text was sent within 45 minutes saying my appointment was cancelled due to not confirming. When I saw both texts, I was confused as it was not even been 24 hours since they originally tried to reach me. I called immediately since I took off work for this appointment. A receptionist said they’d try to get me back onto the schedule but couldn’t guarantee anything since they already filled my spot. I told her that I am unavailable by phone for the rest of the day until 4pm but texting is best. I never received a text or call to update me if they could get me in or not. Honestly, at this point I was already ready to switch providers. The next morning I received a call saying I owe a missed appointment fee because I was a no-show for my 8:30 appointment. I immediately called back and explained how nobody ever contacted me to confirm this appointment was back on and the last I heard was that it was cancelled. The receptionist was apologetic and said I wouldn’t owe anything. She offered to get me back on the schedule but I declined. A few weeks later, the final push came to write this review when an invoice came in the mail saying I owed $50 for a missed appointment. I honestly laughed out loud because I cannot believe how poor communication is at this office. I was very impressed at my first visit and even have sent over two clients who see you on a regular basis. I know all phone calls are recorded and hopefully documented in patient files. I can easily pull up my phone records as well showing I was never given a call/text prior to Monday to confirm. Someone is not doing their job properly at this clinic and it’s hurting business. Id like to say that I understand your 24 hours confirmation process. I truly get it and understand you probably have a lot of no shows. I’ve never been late or cancelled an appointment within the 24 hr period (or a week prior) I had until Tuesday at 8:30am to confirm but was given less than 24 hours from your first initial text on Monday at 11am. How is this fair to the working community? The expectation to have my phone on me 24/7 to answer when my dentist calls is wild and personally not a good fit for my schedule. My last name is different on this profile, so before you say “I can’t find your name in my system” Feel free to comment below and I’d be happy to talk with management over the phone.

Fantastic experience: I love this place everyone is so friendly and gentle with my teeth. They explain everything to you so you understand what you need and what it will cost and how long it will take. I highly recommend them they are the best dental agency I’ve ever had

They prepared a complete dental plan and explained everything. Although I face more procedures , I am less anxious. Dr. Murphy was very nice.

Fantastic experience: As always my visit on April 8th was a (5) five star performance. Dr. Pat was as gentle as a lamb during the procedure of extracting my tooth. So far, as of today, I have not experienced any repercussions. The staff was, as usual, warm, friendly, and encouraging. In closing, from observation, Dr. Pat's "bedside manners" has somewhat altered.

Positive experience: X rays were taken, my gums measured, and dentist came in. I am used to my dentist talking to me about treatment plans but he came in and checked my mouth and said she (referring to the hygienist) would talk to me. I also thought my visit would include cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Just came back as a new patient from Dental Wellness. Lexi and Dr. Mike were some of the kindess dental professionals I have ever had. Lexi explained each process, gave me her judgement by looking at xrays, and made going to the dentist a breeze. Dr. Mike was kind enough to compliment other dentists' work on my teeth and answer any questions I had. I did not feel like they were trying to goad me into procedures I did not need and I walked out of there feeling very cared for. I will be back!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend the Dental Wellness Center of Maryville! Their hygienist and staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and family friendly. I have always felt comfortable and welcome while in their care.

Negative experience: Shuffled in to scanner, xrays, brief encounter with dentist, then shuffled into what i call, "the closing room". Sat for 15 minutes feeling like i was waiting on a car dealer! Then the "sales rep" walks in, quoted wrong insurance. Waited 15 more. Then i was shown the work they drummed up and proceeded to tell me 20% down on it all or WONT TREAT ME!? AFTER discussing with my insurance learned their charges are quadruple plus my coverage! I went in for a sore tooth and cleaning then had to ask 3 times for antibiotic still not at pharmacy an hour later. NO THANK YOU!

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr. Mike Murphy for decades and still am. Everyone in the practice that I have ever been in contact with are professional, highly skilled and friendly. I had a new dental hygienist Jessica, who did a great job. I do miss Christie who has cleaned my teeth for years, she was a friend with a great smile. I heartily recommend the Dental Wellness Center of Maryville.
