Fantastic experience: Yet once again, I give Dentistry By Design my highest rating - "Three P's". They were (as usual) - ...Pleasant Prompt and Professional 10/08/2024 - Went again this week…once again 5 star rating 01/28/2025 - again a visit (for an ancient filling that my waterpik dislodged). Could not be more pleased with replacement result. 5 stars again! 01/26/2026 - teeth cleaning, new hygienist and like the whole staff , first class treatment and the feeling of ultimate professionalism.

I have extreme dental anxiety caused by horrible past dental experiences but Dr. Anand had me laughing in the first 10 minutes. The office is beautiful and comfortable, Susie and the front desk staff are accommodating and friendly, and the dental assistant was professional and warm. I highly recommend Dentistry By Design.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient for 3 years. This practice is top notch. My dental needs are fairly complex and they technically proficient from hygienists to the dentist to desk staff. I had a Xmas emergency and Dr Schmotter called me back in 2 hours with x rays in front of him and got me in next business day! Delightful people too

Fantastic experience: After trying a new dental office closer to home and not having a great experience- I came running back to Dentistry By Design (and I never thought I’d ever say this about a dental office- but actually missed their office, hygienists and Dr. Anand!) They are the sweetest group of people who make you feel so comfortable and at ease (coming from someone with a lot of anxiety around dentists), the office is so warm and inviting, and i know they truly care about their patients. SO HAPPY TO BE BACK!!!

Thankfully, I was relieved when I found this office — they calmed my nerves right away. The staff is welcoming, kind, and efficient, making the visit feel easy and comfortable in their gorgeous office. My hygienist, Lauren, was thorough and gentle, while Dr. Alex took the time to explain my dental needs in detail with a calming, professional approach. Fantastic experience: Best Dentistry practice I have ever been to. I had a crown pop off at night and was able to get an appointment the very next morning. Dr. Schmotter was fantastic and so was his dental assistant. I was in and out in less than an hour! 7/18/23 I had complicated cavity/crown work done this morning by Dr. Annan. He is not only a highly skilled practitioner (and zero pain!), he has wonderful “bedside manner” and is very communicative while doing the procedure. He made me feel extremely comfortable and at ease and did an outstanding job! His assistant, (I think her name is Lisa, but not sure) was fantastic too! As is the case anytime I go there, Kathy at the reception area, is friendly and accommodating. I also want to mention my favorite Dental Assistant ever, Wendy! She is definitely the best DA I have ever had! 12/16/24 Had a cleaning by my favorite Dental Assistant, Wendy, and as usual is was a 5 star experience! 6/11/25 Went for my 6 month cleaning and check up done by Wendy, who is FANTASTIC. I used to dread going to the dentist because of bad past experiences, but I no longer dread going since switching to this practice! I actually look forward to going.. 12/11/25 Went for my 6 month cleaning with Wendy. As I stated in my previous review. I love going for my cleanings now because of Wendy. She is not only extraordinarily skilled, she is a wonderful human being!

Fantastic experience: I’m a brand-new patient at Dentistry by Design in Novato, and I already feel so lucky to have found this office. I’ve had a lot of dental issues over my life and have seen close to 30 different dentists — so I know the difference between okay care and exceptional care. From my first step inside, I felt comfortable and cared for. The hygienist was wonderful — friendly, funny, and really knowledgeable. She made a normally stressful appointment feel almost easy. I had a full set of X-rays and scans done, and the assistant doing those explained everything clearly and was so gentle throughout the process. Then I met the dentist, and he completely earned my trust in the first few minutes. He listened to my concerns, ran some tests I’d never even heard of, and truly took the time to explain what was going on and what my options were — without talking down to me or rushing through anything. His manner is calm, professional, and genuinely kind. After one visit, I can already tell I’m in excellent hands here. I feel heard, respected, and confident moving forward with my care — something I haven’t felt in a long time. I’m already recommending Dentistry by Design to everyone I know.

Susie and Cathy are the most exceptional receptionists and always manage to get us appointments in a reasonable length of time. My entire family and everyone I know who goes here (I recommend them all the time) says the same thing. The offices and rooms are all very nice. They even play great music! Most importantly though, Dr Raj Anand is simply and undeniably the best. Super nice, extremely efficient, incredibly proficient at his craft and a great communicator. I just had a filling fall out and he walked the the entire process as he worked. Amazing! Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Dentistry by Design is an excellent dental office, I always leave feeling relaxed and comfortable. It seems strange because it’s a dental office, but they make the experience feel somehow spa like. The hygienists are all incredible and have a light touch. They are extremely thorough and detailed with their work. I can speak to having a filling replaced by Dr Rosenthal (who is now retired) his work was fast and painless for me. Dr Shmotter has taken over part of his practice and he is very skilled and has a great sense of humor. If you need a dentist I would recommend them.

The receptionist took time to gather as much information regarding what would be my mom's 1st dental visit in the office. I provided as much information as possible about her previous dentist. I reluctantly switched her dental office due to logistics. However, I was extremely pleased with everything I saw, what my mom experienced, and the knowledge of the dentist, hygienist and the staff. The doctor, hygienist and staff didn't try to pressure me into unnecessary treatments or products. It was a great experience for my mom! This office came highly recommended. Fantastic experience: Outstanding practice! I've received so much great care here. I came in during a difficult period with my teeth (after receiving good care for 30 years in SF), and they helped me navigate two root canals, one extraction, a new mouth guard, full mouth CT scan, osteoporosis medications, and more. Dr. Anand, Dr. Schmotter, and the hygienists have been exceptional in answering Qs, advising on bone medications, and providing a new mouth guard that is so much better than my old one. They are smart, kind, have the latest high tech equipment, and provide truly outstanding care. I loved my prior dental practice, and was nervous about finding a new one in Novato. I feel very lucky to have landed in this extremely high quality practice. The offices are also gorgeous and relaxing. Great place for dental care!

Fantastic experience: We were in the process of switching Dentists and we were referred to Dentistry by Design. Possibly the greatest experience I have ever had at a Dentist. I was greeted by smiling faces and they were kind throughout the whole appointment. They also have the latest dental technology to top it off. Beautiful building and great people.

Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous. Will never go back again! You will be assigned a dentist who can't handle the care you need. After ruining your teeth completely and charging you loads of money, they will send you to a specialist. On top of that, they will schedule regular Xrays and teeth cleaning for you and not bother to tell you that you are out of network or the Xrays are not covered before providing the service and then charge you with hundreds of dollars. Plus they will also try to scare you that all your teeth need some work, so we should get it done asap. DON'T EVER GO TO THEM.
