Fantastic experience: My 2.5 year old son and I had a great first experience with Dr. Jonathan Chang. We are new to town with no personal recommendations for children’s dentistry and picked this one. Due to COVID they had us wait in the doorway until it our turn to check in. Super speedy, delightful staff behind the desk. Smooth process. We waited maybe 4-8 minutes (which was perfect for a curious 2.5 year old) and we’re taken back by Elizabeth who immediately started working on building a relationship with my son. She was so patient, and encouraged his curiosity, while also checking his teeth and doing the annual cleaning. She gave me tips on how to clean my sons teeth better and even showed me which was helpful. Dr. Jonathan came along next- not a long wait at all between the cleaning and dr. check. Again, very kind, very welcoming, you can tell he loves kids and what he does. I didn’t feel rushed and knew I could ask whatever questions I had. I am so happy we stumbled upon this place. I look forward to coming back. My kiddo left by saying goodbye to everyone with a huge smile of confidence and a squeak clean smile. Updated: July 19, 2023 Dr. Jon, our dentist, and his staff is amazing with my child's dental care. From the start, their warm and friendly approach put my child at ease during appointments. Dr. Jon's expertise and gentle manner ensure positive experiences for my little one, without fear or anxiety. He takes the time to educate us on proper oral hygiene practices at home, benefiting my child's long-term dental health. I am relieved and grateful to have found such an exceptional dentist for my child, like one I had growing up! We will continue to see Dr. Jon and highly recommend him to any parent seeking excellent pediatric dental care. Update: April 2025 Still my favorite dentist. We recently moved to Sunnyvale and we will continue to make the commute to Fremont to be seen by Dr. Jon and his staff. Thank you for everything. Updated: October 2026 My son is now 6½, and we still absolutely love this office. Every visit reminds me why we’re willing to make the drive from Sunnyvale to Fremont — Dr. Jon and his team are simply the best. We usually book the first appointment of the morning, and they’re always on time, kind, and respectful of our schedule. The staff makes my son feel comfortable and confident, and he actually looks forward to going to the dentist (which says a lot!). At our last visit, he got to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters during his cleaning — total win. I left feeling confident about his dental health and with helpful updates about what to expect as his adult teeth start coming in. I really appreciate how Dr. Jon takes the time to explain everything and offer tips for keeping my son’s teeth healthy at home. Having had a great dentist growing up, it means a lot to see my son building those same positive experiences.

Fantastic experience: A friendly place for our kids to have dental work done. While being kid-friendly is super important, we feel their level of safety and high standards for care are even better. They only work with a limited number of outside providers because they have such a high bar for the standard of care. When you are referred out, you are going to an expert. Solid place. Great new location too.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. Andrew at reception was absolutely unhelpful and unwilling to accommodate when I needed to reschedule because my son was sick. I asked for a simple adjustment to a time after school, and he flat-out refused to show any flexibility. For the outrageous amount of money patients pay for orthodontic treatment, you would think basic courtesy and understanding would be a given—but not here. The orthodontic side of this practice does little, if anything, to support their patients. They are not friendly, not accommodating, and clearly don’t value families’ time or circumstances. To make matters worse, after Andrew’s dismissive attitude, the office manager later called me and—surprise, surprise—was somehow able to find a time to squeeze us in. So it was possible all along. SHOCKING. This experience was frustrating, stressful, and left a really bad taste in my mouth. If you’re considering an orthodontist in this area, think twice before wasting your time and money here.

Fantastic experience: My new favorite kid dentist. Took my son here for his first ever dentist visit and it was a great experience. He’s 1 so of course he has no idea what’s going on, but they gave him a shirt and a prize at the end and they even took a picture of us at the end and put it on a magnet to take home, so cute. I love the staff here, they ask great questions, very tentative and make you feel like you’re not a new patient but your family. We will see you all again in 6 months for his next cleaning! Highly recommend them for a kid dentist!

Fantastic experience: It was our first time here, my baby is almost 15 months and she did amazing! Our dental assistant I forgot her name was so good with my daughter. She spoke directly to her, kept her entertained and was just so patient. I as a first time parents I was so nervous on bringing her to the dentist. Dr. Chang was awesome and was so quick. He was patient with her crying, and was singing to her the whole time. For our first visit, she got a Tshirt, stickers, a goodie bag, a token to get a prize, and a balloon animal! They are amazing! Thank you for taking care of us!

The office is bright and welcoming, making it a fun experience for kids. I highly recommend them for anyone seeking a caring and professional dentist for their little ones. Five stars all the way!

Negative experience: The dental hygienist was so mean to my son and was practically yelling at him, and I had to intervene and tell her not to speak to my child that way. Dr. Nguyen apologized profusely but it doesn't excuse the techs behavior. Dr. Nguyen suggested that my child needed his tooth extracted and quoted me over $2000. I thought this was absurd so I got a second opinion and took my son to my own Dentist and he was flabbergasted by the diagnosis of Dr. Nguyen when in fact, my son just needed a regular filling.

Fantastic experience: My son and daughter have been patients at Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics since their very first visits, and we’ve always had a wonderful experience. Dr. Rattan is kind, relatable (as a mom herself), and truly knows how to connect with kids. Today, my son was cared for by Alondra, RDA, and Dr. Rattan, and they made what could have been a stressful visit into a comfortable one. My son was nervous, but with their patience, kindness, and encouragement, he felt at ease throughout the process. Dr. Rattan even gave him the confidence to have his loose tooth extracted, something he was completely opposed to before coming in. At Just Kids, treating children with respect and nurturing them through the process comes naturally, and it shows in every interaction. I’m grateful for the care and highly recommend this practice! Fantastic experience: My 10 year old son has been going here for 4 years for dental and the last 2 years for ortho and he really likes all of the employees in this office. They really know how to treat kids. We just finished orthodontia and it was a smooth experience.

Fantastic experience: Very good doctors and assistants. Only one annoying hiccup. They charge $5 for credit card payment on any amount. I paid $135 plus $5 for credit card payment. Even small grocery shops don’t charge if you pay more than $10 with credit card. I hope someone listens

Negative experience: I loved this dentist clinic until today.. the assistant was not kid friendly… very serious, my son usually loved to go to this clinic but today he was cooperating .. you guys need to hire assistants that love to work with kids..

Fantastic experience: I am super pleased with Just Kids and their entire team. I must say we are very blessed to have such a great Doctor. My two kids just love going there. Dr. Pooja Rattan and her assistant Alisha are just so wonderful to our kids. They always make sure the kids are comfortable before any procedure. Dr. Pooja always assures she preps them before proceeding with the procedure making awareness to the kids as what's to come. This really helps my kids feel at ease. Even during the procedures Dr. Pooja and Alisha are always talking to my kids making sure they aren't in pain. It's very comforting. I'm very happy with their service and level of professionalism. Fantastic experience: My daughter was so nervous about getting 2 teeth extracted, to be honest, so was I. Thankfully, I can always depend on the staff at Just Kids to make us feel comforted, supported, and at ease. Our appointment time was held, our dental assistant Alondra was accommodating, kind, efficient, and communicative the whole way through. Dr. Ratan is an absolute star! She’s the best! My daughter and son always look forward to seeing her. She has a mother’s touch and nurturing tone with the kids. We completed 2 extractions without any tears or complaints. It matters so much to me that the kids are able to have healthy experiences at the dentist and I’m thrilled to say they do because of this team. Special shout out to Amy!

Our family dentist recommended we visit a pediatric dental emergency clinic for further evaluation, so we went to Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry—and I’m so grateful we did. From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff, Angela, showed genuine concern upon seeing my child’s swollen face. She quickly registered us, took photos, and immediately communicated everything to the doctor. Dr. Pooja Rattan responded without delay, asking us to stay in the office for a thorough examination. I want to sincerely thank Dr. Rattan for her exceptional care. She was not only highly professional but also deeply empathetic. At the time of the injury, my child also had an acute sinus infection, and Dr. Rattan took the time to examine him carefully and rule out any complications. She was incredibly attentive, answered all of our questions patiently, and didn’t miss a single detail—no matter how small. Her dedication and integrity were remarkable. She is a truly angelic and noble dental professional, and we felt so lucky to have her care. I also want to give a special shoutout to nurse Josie. Throughout the visit, she was calm, patient, and extremely supportive. She coordinated everything, comforted my child, and went above and beyond by organizing all the medical documents on the spot for future follow-up. Josie is one of the most compassionate and responsible medical professionals I’ve ever encountered. Her presence made a real difference! I especially want to highlight Nurse Gali—she truly amazed me. As always, Dr. Rattan was professional, friendly, and reassuring. She successfully and smoothly completed the extraction with great skill. Gali was not only highly professional but also incredibly gentle and engaging with my child. She quickly won my child’s trust and kept the atmosphere light and comforting. She even customized a movie just for him to help him feel at ease! In addition to assisting with the extraction, she also performed two dental sealants and explained each step in a way my child could understand. She listened to him patiently, respected his thoughts, and handled every little detail with such care. Thanks to her, my child was much more cooperative than I expected. Also, a shoutout to Andrew at the front desk—he was excellent and helpful throughout the visit. Just Kids is incredibly fortunate to have such outstanding staff members. They absolutely deserve recognition—and I sincerely hope the clinic considers giving them a promotion or a raise. They’ve earned it through their dedication and exceptional care!

Negative experience: Extremely bad experience. I wish there was an option to give zero stars. Very unprofessional service. We schedule an appointment to bring in my daughter for her treatment and they called litterly 10 mins before the scheduled appointment to cancel her treatment while we were already on the way to get there. I have already filled all the paper works couple of days ago. They had enough time already to discuss if they were not going to provide a treatment to my daughter. I have never seen such an unprofessional behavior ever before.

Negative experience: I had an unpleasant phone call experience regarding CICARE. I sent them a complain email regarding the phone call. Hopefully they will follow up. Their staff need to learn how to respect patient as a health care professional.

Fantastic experience: Today I visited Just Kids for my daughter's dental check-up. All nurses and staffs were super kind. Also, I could get good advices for the dental home care to my daughter. The animation shows from the ceiling and toys were kids friendly, so I could distract my daughter from crying.

My only regret is that my children are now aging out…I used to bring all three of them at the same time, and now I only have my sixteen-year-old there. We have seen Just Kids grow and expand over the years, but Dr. Jonathan and his team never fail to offer excellent care and attention and have always treated us like family. They are truly the best!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Lee was very patient with my son. She knew he was nervous about the dentist, but she let him choose what he was comfortable with. She never forced him to do anything he didn't want to do like x-rays or actually using the tool to clean. I love going to Just Kids because they are very accommodating to kids.

Fantastic experience: I took my one week old in for an evaluation for tongue tie (he was having difficulty latching/shallow latch) and I could not go on with my nipples being raw. I was able to get an appointment within days of inquiring. Dr. Rattan confirmed my son had a tongue tie and was able to use the laser to release the tongue tie the same day. I felt a difference with feeding that same night. My son is more efficient with nursing and my nipples are forever grateful. It was a quick procedure. You just have to keep up with the tongue exercises and massage for a month. Totally worth it if you're experiencing feeding difficulties with your baby. My son's weight has taken off, glad we had it done. My son was fussy the first 24 hr, but he was on Tylenol and it helped. Noli was able to explain our insurance coverage/schedule our visit. She understood we were driving from Tracy and got us in quickly. She also shared her son had Dr. Rattan do her son's procedure as well. We had a good experience and I think you will too if you are concerned about tongue/lip ties. Thank you Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry and Dr. Rattan and staff!

Fantastic experience: Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics in Downtown Fremont is a clean, modern, and kid-friendly office that really caters to families. The waiting area is colorful and calming, with plenty of toys and books to keep kids entertained. The staff is incredibly warm and patient, taking time to explain procedures to both parents and children. The dentists are gentle, knowledgeable, and know how to make kids feel comfortable—even during more involved treatments like extractions or orthodontic consultations. Appointments usually run on time, and the front desk is helpful with scheduling and insurance. The only downside is that parking can be a bit tight during peak hours. Still, the quality of care and overall experience make it worth it.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful experience for my daughter’s first visit to the dentist. The entire staff and dental team were kind, knowledgeable, and have created an environment that will have kids WANTING to go to the dentist. I highly recommend.

Negative experience: The staffs used to be good. But the new technicians are not very good with working with kids. They are just there for the check. The dentist is good with her work. The front desk clerks are not punctuation about billing. They are supposed to get back to us regarding our charge and we haven’t heard anything for a month. Lack of passion and profession.

Fantastic experience: Professional staff! Super kid friendly! Love the TVs on the ceilings with Disney Plus on at all times! Never been to a dentistry that felt like Chuck E. Cheese, my kids love coming here! They even get a token at the end to use on the fun vending machines, and they always give a balloon party animals to each kid!

Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist or orthodontist is not usually a good experience, but in this place my children are happy to go. Staff members are very kind and doctors are skilled and friendly with the patients, which is very important when treating kids. I like that it’s always neat and clean, they keep my schedule, send text messages and call to remind me about my appointments, and they have always been very helpful explaining all the treatments and pricing, and the insurance coverage and everything. We use both dentist and orthodontics services. I don’t know why other parents would complain about the usage of tv while kids being attended, because I can tell is very useful. There’s nothing negative I could say about this dentistry place. Highly recommended. Oh, it’s kind of obvious for the name, but no, they don’t take adult patients. I wish they did.

Negative experience: I agree most of the doctors are knowledgeable there. But they are so rushed to get the work done. Dr. Chang always started the filling procedure RIGHT AFTER he put anesthetic on my kids’ teeth. Then my two little ones always cried out and complained about the pain during the procedure but he always told me this is normal and kids can’t really feel the pain. They are just acting dramatic because of the laughing gas. I believed in him until one day my 10 year old son told me that he did feel pain when the doctor started drilling even with anesthetic. I checked Google and also based on my personal dental appointment experience, it will take about 5-10 minutes for the anesthetic to work. Now I felt so sorry for my 4 years last time when he started screaming when Dr Chang started drilling his tooth and sweated a lot after the doctor finished the procedure. He did feel pain since the anesthetic had not started working yet when the doctor worked on his tooth!! Not like the doctor said that he was acting dramatic. The doctor should be more patient!!. Also, My two little ones both had infection issues with the teeth after they put crowns on them. They are so rushed to get the work done!

There is a fun decor, comfy seats, a big TV playing Disney+, and awesome front desk workers. Everyone and the doctor were very kind, gentle, and checked in with dad and the patient throughout the whole process. They were on time as well which is always great but rare to find in medical fields. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my two year old to Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry in Fremont since he was one, and I’ve been very happy with the service. I really appreciate how every staff member is so friendly, positive, and patient. They all work really hard to make going to the dentist as fun as possible for babies and toddlers (and I’m sure older kids as well), which can be a challenge because my son isn’t cooperative and he usually cries even when we brush his teeth at home. He always leaves smiling thanks to the balloons, songs, and prizes. And I’m really relieved we’re taking good care of his teeth from the start.

Positive experience: Dr. Tan is awesome. However, 1 thing I wanted to bring to the office attention is why always force patient to use Nitrous Gas? Just want to share that my kids do better without the gas and we have informed and requested not to use the gas while doing treatments. Please consider our comments.

Fantastic experience: We took our kid in for dental check-ups several times and was impressed with how staff served kids' dental needs here. It is pretty intimidating for our kid to have the first few dental visit. However, dental hygienist and Dr. Tan were very patient and was able to persuade my kid to cooperate. All the staff were friendly and had their own charms that work on kids. Love how they went above and beyond to make the dental office very kid friendly. Dr. Tan was very professional. I would highly recommend her to any kid!

Fantastic experience: My kids have been coming almost for 8 years now. Every time we come we feel welcomed by their friendly staff. It’s always been clean which is nice. They give the kids coins to use at the end of the appointment for the different prize machines that they have.

Fantastic experience: Great place to take kids. Everyone is patient. My daughters used to be scared of dentist but now look forward to their visit. My eldest asked if she can watch movies. They get balloon animals and toys from toy machine.

Fantastic experience: Amazing office and staff. Dr. Pooja Rattan was a breath of fresh air. I had some concerns regarding fluoride and other things and she was super patient in trying to meet me halfway instead of just pushing her point of view, like so many other dentists do. She was also great at chatting away with my kid…she was able to make him so comfortable and distracted that he did not even know when she extracted his tooth. I did not think it would go so well! I’m really impressed by this doctor and this office.

As an early education professional I appreciate how respectful they are of the children and talk to them about everything they are doing; this greatly reduces anxiety and fear towards the dentist. We have tried several children's dental offices and are very happy with the services here in comparison to others.

Fantastic experience: Dr Jonathan Chang and his assistants are amazing! Super welcoming and friendly. Every time my daughter goes to the office she is NEVER nervous, not like the other places we have been. The staff is very patient and handles kids very well. Fantastic experience: This is the best dental experience your kids could hope for. Mine were definitely apprehensive about going to the dentist, but they were very patient with the nerves of my youngest on his first visit, and we've recently had his 3rd visit and he was almost excited to go, and left feeling very happy. Both my kids did. Dr. Chang is very caring, attentive, and tremendously knowledgable and skilled. His staff are all great vibes and great at what they do. They are organized, their systems are easy to work with, their facility is not just clean but also fun for the kids to be in. You couldn't say enough great things about this place. We feel super fortunate to go to such a great dental practice.

Fantastic experience: Love bringing our kids here. The Ortho and Dentist we see are both great with kids, very kind and thorough. They all explain every situation and are happy to work with you on the best plan. The office staff is also very knowledgeable and happy to explain all insurance questions and to clearly state your expected costs.

Fantastic experience: They're very professional, patient and the most important part about our visit was that r hey know how to deal with kids for sure and know how to get my kid's trust. I have a 7 year old daughter that was scared of dental check up because of her past experience with a dental office that said that was meant for kids she had a trauma and never want to go back. But after her visit in this wonderful dental office she now look forward on her next visit.

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for many years and I won’t take my kids anywhere else. Dr. Rattan is absolutely AMAZING!!! She has been incredible and I trust her full heartedly. She explains everything and is very transparent about treatment plans and recommendations. One of my children is autistic and it can be very challenging to do any medical/dental appointments but in general most kids have anxiety visiting the dentist. Dr. Rattan and the RDA’s are so patient, kind, and welcoming which makes the whole experience better and less anxious. If needed they are equipped and very experience to handle patients that need a little TLC. The office is SUPER clean and kid friendly. Plus the kids love the reward wall for after an appointment. The front desk staff are always helpful booking appointments and have very clear/upfront billing. If you are looking for a top level pediatric dental office, look no further!

Fantastic experience: Amazing Kids' Dentist Experience! We had a fantastic experience at Just Kids Pediatric Dental! From start to finish, everything was smooth and stress-free. I was so impressed that there was absolutely no wait time – we were seen right on schedule! The dentist nurses were incredibly kind, patient, and polite. They had a wonderful way with my kids, making them feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire visit. My children actually enjoyed their dental check-up, which is a testament to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this dentist for anyone looking for a positive and comfortable dental experience for their children!

Negative experience: My kids love coming here, the staff/dentist are super friend, but they need better time management. We are always early because they might cancel your appointment if you are 10 minutes late. However, these last few times, they’ve made us wait 20-30 minutes from appointment time and we are always 10 minutes early so we waited a total of 30 minutes today. I wouldn’t have minded so much if they had not called all the other patients in first that came in after us. This will be the last time we get there early, pls do better!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had been going to Just kids dentistry and she absolutely loves it ! The staff is great always welcoming us with smiles . Doctors are awesome as well , we have no complaints and would highly recommend for your children’s dental needs .

Fantastic experience: Took my girls back in October 2024, so this review is way overdue but I wanted to share since they did an amazing job. The office is very clean and all the staff members were very friendly and made sure that my girls were comfortable throughout the whole visit. We will definitely be back in 2 months.

Fantastic experience: These guys are the BEST Pediatric Dentist you could ask for. Dr. Jonathan Chang runs an amazing facility. My daughter has been a patient with Just Kids since she's had teeth; she's six now. Their entire set up and process is fantastic. They go above and beyond to make the kids comfortable and happy. They have TVs with cartoons playing everywhere which is a great way to help keep my daughter occupied while I speak with her dentist. Most recently, my daughter had to have a Frenulectomy/Frenotomy to correct a tongue tie issue. We were concerned because it was done incorrectly when she was a newborn. Their specialist, Dr. Rataan, was amazing and did a wonderful job with the procedure. She made sure we had a thorough understanding of the aftercare which tends to be very involved. I highly recommend Just Kids if you are looking for a pediatric dentist that will take care of your children.

Fantastic experience: The best pediatric dentist. I drive from San Jose because several of my friends recommended this place for this kids. I’m just so impressed by the staff and how they interact with the kids. As someone who has always feared the dentist, I was a bit nervous taking my kid to her first dentist appointment. My daughter just came back from her third appointment (she’s 3.5) and seeing her so excited to see Dr. Tan. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely time at Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry! It was our little one’s first time so of course we were nervous but the entire staff took care of us from beginning to end. Andrew and Arvee was fabulous at providing information and stellar service over the phone which lead to us picking this place over other options. My son absolutely adored Alendra who was the assistant who did his first cleaning/floss/examination. She had wonderful bedside manner and my son was calm cool and collected the entire time. We appreciate the entire team and Dr. Rattan for providing a thorough overview of our options going forward. Love the multiple prizes and balloon animals at the end. Fantastic experience: update: We had a dental emergency when my 12yo got hit by a bicyclist and lost 2 teeth. We called in and Andrew fit us in after a short wait. Dr Nguyen, Sam, Lauren, & Lily took such good care of my child to try to save these 2 teeth & were detailed in their explanation of what was going on. Many of the staff who we have gotten to know over the years, also came in to stop by and check in on my 12yo when they heard he had to come for this emergency visit. We are so glad that we get our care here. ======== We have been happy with the ortho treatment with Dr Janice for over a year now. She is very good about answering my questions & letting me know what to expect next. We just switched over for the dentist part. My kids responded really well to their amazing dental assistants. Lauren is our fave from ortho & now dental. My younger one can be a bit dramatic about getting anything done, even cleanings, but Andee was very patient and validating & somehow got him to have a minimally dramatic visit.
