Fantastic experience: My son has been coming to Dr. Halum’s for about 5 years now. It’s a drive for us but so worth it for my kiddo. Dr. Halum is great with him and I also give 5 stars to his new associate Dr. Savage. Hands down, 100% recommend this office as a peds dentist.

Fantastic experience: My son has been going to Dr Kurt Halum since he was 2 years old. He just recently graduated from the pediatrics dentistry and now he will be seeing an adult dentist. My daughter had been seeing Dr Halum since she was 2 years old and now she’s 8 years old. We were recently introduced to Dr Juaquan Savage who is so awesome and full energy just like Dr Halum! I absolutely love this practice so much. Dr Savage did two separate sessions for a baby root canal for my daughter. He’s awesome as well as his team. Candy and Kelli are so awesome! I meant for keeping my daughter calm and me calm as well. Their communication skills and very attentive to the patient as well as to me. Alison customer service is top tier. You don’t find a lot of people who takes pride in their work but Alison does from what I have seen over the past 14 years I have been coming there! Thank you Dr Halum, Dr Savage, Kelli, Candy, Alison, and all staff who have treated us so well the past 14 years!

Fantastic experience: I have a 6 year old who is always scared to come to the dentist. It’s always a stressful situation for him and me. Today was our first time coming here and I’m upset we didn’t come sooner. By far the best experience ever. They know how to work with kids that by the end of my son’s appointment he said he loved coming to the dentist. So grateful I found this place.

Fantastic experience: So glad my kids get to be part of this practice. Even my oldest that has since graduated to a regular dentist, has nothing but great things to say about Dr. Halum. I know they're always to capacity for new patients, but I'm so grateful we got in! It was worth the effort!

Fantastic experience: Best dental office for children around! My kids love it so much. Everyone is extremely kind (smiles on everyone’s face) and helpful. I appreciate how quick and efficient they are, another big plus is that we don’t have to sit and wait for 30 min to be seen for appointments. We also never spend even an hour at our appointments and I take 2 little ones every visit!

Positive experience: Halum and his new doctor on staff are amazing . I’d venture to say most the office is very kind, good with children and very helpful. Most being the operative word. There is a tech/hygenist there that ignores parent questions, is short and impatient with kiddos, notates the answers to the questions they ask without listening to your answers, talks about you as if you aren’t in the room, acts like doing her job was a huge inconvenience, etc. She was so rude and honestly mean. Thankfully Kelly would come in and help her out several times . We’ve gone here for years and never felt like we were more confused and unheard than we did after this last visit . We didn’t have a four star visit yesterday. I’d honestly say it wasn’t even three stars, all due to how this one woman behaved and interacted. But then the rest of the staff was great so I just can’t give below a four .

Fantastic experience: I can't express how grateful I am to have a dentist that cares as much as I do, and respects my choices/views. Not only is Dr. Halum amazing, but his staff is equally as caring and helpful. Candy has been our hygienist/assistant almost every visit and never lacks on efficiency or information. My daughter is always happy to go to the office and loves greeting the staff.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Halum has been the best dentist! My son was traumatized by his previous dentist. We switched to dr. Halum years ago, and will never change dentist again. My kids literally ask me almost everyday if it’s time for the dentist again. The office is so clean. Staff is incredible! Very informative and kind. Truly a dream dr!

Fantastic experience: Came in as a new patient and had a very pleasant experience from walking in the door signing in with the receptionist ,Dr.Kurt & Ms. Candy. They were all very kind and friendly. They made us feel very welcomed and my daughter enjoyed her first dental experience. We will definitely be returning!

Fantastic experience: My child has autism and it was his first time at the dentist. The team was so understanding and patient with him. The team made his first time experience a good one. Dr. Halum was amazing!

Negative experience: Recently left this practice and switched to Lake Ridge Dentist in Munster. After many x rays and being told that my daughter grinds her teeth (surprise, she doesn’t) she cracked a back tooth. I was advised from Halum to NOT fill it. It’s “not worth it. It will fall out.” Back molars typically fall out closer to age 10-11, my child is 7. After having new X-rays done at our new dentist, turns out it’s a huge cavity almost touching the nerve. Which now requires a crown. This could have been avoided if the x rays were read correctly and paid attention to and we weren’t rushed through the appointment. You are not a client, you are a number to get in as many people as possible. No care is obviously given. The dentist here comes in for 2 minutes, looks in your child’s mouth and leaves. The “cleaning” takes maybe 5 minutes. Building is old and run down. Do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Everything has always been spot on here. My daughter has aged out but we continue visits for my son who is 13. Thats a long time! Everyone is always so friendly. My son always feels comfortable. 10 outta 10 for sure.

Fantastic experience: Upon walking it they make it so cute for kids. The receptionists are all great and I love that they have a texting feature to communicate with the office. Frances was great with my kids, explained everything that was happening before it happened and I really appreciated that! Already scheduled our next follow up. I appreciate an office that works smooth like this one.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Halum is passionate about proactive dentistry in the form of myofunctional therapy! He looks to the future and seeks to prevent Issues that could arise if not treated properly In the present. He has a very strong understanding of how the tongue affects the rest of the body and educates the parent while also keeping things age-appropriate with the children. The office is decorated in such a way that is inviting for children and they make it fun during the visit! 5 stars!

Negative experience: My 3 autistic children have been using this dental office for over 10 yrs.. During their last visit , the Dr requested my middle child (13) see his associate due to red gums which could be a sign of periodontal disease. I obliged under the impression that if cleared, my son would return to this office. My son was cleared by this associate Dr. Bade, who's office is outdated and dingy and not any place I'd want my child to step foot in ever again due to the condition. It came across very unsanitary to be frank. I called to schedule with Dr. Halum's office and was told my child "graduated" from Dr. Halum and was now Dr. Bade's patient. The hell he is! It takes a lot of audacity for a dental clinic to just decide they have the right to pick your child's treatment for you. I can only assume his friend needs patients. I would've been researching dentists for all 3 of my children months ago if this office had just been straightforward with me.

Having children with special needs involving Sensory issues and Autism makes any visit, especially to a dentist, a challenge. Coming here has provided a different mindset on expectations and standards for the type of care that my kids need and deserve and our visits are always welcoming, organized, and quick to the point but also provide the kind of care you feel is real and the education and options needed to be successful in Dental care and hygiene! We are very grateful for the conservative approach with the baby, and able to make recommendations for future actions. Also gave us peace of mind on whether the one and two year old are on track with their incoming teeth. Happy smiles here!

Fantastic experience: We have only had to visit Dr. Halum a handful of times. Each time we visit, the staff is so welcoming, and very friendly. They're always smiling, and ready to talk to the kids. The wait time is never long, and the visits are right to the point as well. My kids LOVE them, and even my youngest, who is also the most difficult when it comes to anyone not mommy dealing with him...he was quick to open his mouth, and show his teeth to Dr. Halum. We love coming here, and we'll keep visiting this dentist for our dental needs! You guys are THE BEST!

Negative experience: My five year old had 4 cavities, Dr. Halum said he fixed them. Less then two months later we found out that he never did! It cost us$~500.Would never trust this dentist.

Fantastic experience: My kids have been seeing Dr. Halum for a few years. The office is run very well and is extremely punctual with its schedule. My kids have experienced trauma from previous pediatric dentists, but Dr. Halum, the hygienists, and other staff are all very friendly and create a positive experience for the children. Dr. Halum use a panoramic x-ray machine, which is much more comfortable and quick for children (without the bite wing tabs). Also, Dr. Halum prefers to treat cavities on baby teeth with silver nitrate to avoid the trauma of getting a filling. Before coming to Dr. Halum, my kids have had traumatic experiences at other pediatric dental offices. For example, one office exposed my toddler son to excess levels of x-ray radiation and caused injuries to his mouth because the employee couldn't properly insert the bite wing tabs, which were too large for his mouth. She took more than ten x-rays of his mouth that day. A different dentist told me my other son needed his small cavity filled ASAP. He was one year old. She had the hygienist and myself holding my son down because he was terrified, screaming and crying and desperately trying to escape the entire time. I am so happy we found Dr. Halum's office to avoid further experiences like these!

Fantastic experience: Best dentist around that I’ve found so far. Never long wait times, always in & out in a timely manner. Scheduling an appointment is very easy and they send you plenty of reminders. Have even had family take my child for me (after filling out the consent form) and they even commented on how clean, quick and efficient it was.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 starts or negative stars I sure would!!!! I drove over an hour to come to this office, as I seen great reviews, which I’m not sure how they have such high ratings, it is appalling to me! When my daughter who is 2 was seen by the dentist, we were told she would have to have her front 2 teeth and her 2 bottom front teeth removed, and the rest of them capped with metal fillings! She would need to be put under at the hospital and have this done. I will say this again, she is 2!!! By the end of this all, she wouldn’t have her front teeth and the rest all metal. How ridiculous. He said her teeth were filled with cavities on every tooth, and it would cost almost 4K after insurance for this procedure, with over 1k down, up front to even schedule. I said absolutely not!!!!! I was a mess, I cried the whole way home, and looked up other places and found somewhere else, took her there and the dentist was sweet and very caring and said there is no way to do that much trauma to a 2 year old and she didn’t even need it!!!!! I would not take your kids here!!!!! Please, if you love your kids, don’t!

Fantastic experience: I wish I would have found this dentist office sooner for my daughter. We have had nothing but the greatest experiences ever during each visit. The office has the most pleasant atmosphere and all of the staff, and the dentist, are friendly. I love how they coordinate the patient’s entrance to the office and their exit. You will have to visit to see what I am talking about…it is the best service in town!

Fantastic experience: Excellent for my kids. His equipment is state of the art for X-rays and charting. Love to visit the dentist because I trust the results for teeth. For over 15 years he has monitored their teeth. My older kids miss hs dental teamwork. ! love the service. My kids like going to the dentist. The staff encourage the kids to brush 2x daily and not have sugar drinks. They encourage water and milk and flossing. I wish I could go for my teeth cleanings!! Went to another dentist with low tech X-ray equipment /bite wings and diagnosed my son with 2 cavities and never had the work done Because I wanted to switch to Dr Halum and guess what? My son didn’t have any cavities and that was 10 years ago!! So updated equipment makes a difference. He will lead you in the right direction.Dr Halum will refer you to another provider if needed.

Fantastic experience: We were first greeted by Bree. To said she is sweet is an understatement. Nicole, the dental hygienist, explained everything and answered all of our questions and listened to our concerns. Every Dr. Halum didn't rush in and rush out. He sat, talked and listened. I absolutely love that we switched dentist. My daughter's anxiety is non existence when it's time for her dentist appts. I would 100% recommend Dr. Halum.

Fantastic experience: I love this dentist! I went thru 5 different dentist before I found them and I'm so happy I did. They are kind to the kids and do great with them. Each room has a different animal that comes out of the wall towards the ceiling. It is decorated perfectly to make kids feel like they are somewhere fun.Most importantly they appreciate your time and take into consideration how hard it is to keep small kids occupied in an office for long periods of time so they get you in and out as fast as possible. I take 4 kids here and each time I have only been there a total of maybe 25 minutes or less. Ex: today our appointment was at 2:25, we got there at 2:20 and I was back in my car at 2:31...with a 3 year old! I love them and recommend them to everyone with children!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Halum and Nicole were both so kind and patient with daughter. They showed what they were going to do on her baby doll first and then on her. This made her feel comfortable throughout the process. Nicole was extremely patient and kind when completing the x-rays. My daughter got scared and Nicole took her time explaining what was going to happen and why it was important. She allowed me to stand with my daughter and keep her comfortable and focused on me while they took the x-ray. Thank you for being so kind and patient you are making this generation feel comfortable and confident coming to the dentist! I cannot give high enough compliments of Dr. Halum and his team!

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this dental practice enough! My son is autistic, nonverbal, with sensory challenges and Dr. Halum and his team were incredibly patient, kind, knowledgeable, and efficient! He had been to another practice in the past (nothing wrong with them! Just not in our insurance network) and this was his best visit yet! They were wonderful with him and I am very grateful! I will absolutely be recommending Dr. Halum and this staff to everyone I know. P.S. the staff checking us in were so welcoming also! All around amazing atmosphere and experience!

Fantastic experience: I searched for a pediatric dentist that accepted my insurance that had good reviews....it was a long search. After Facebook recommendations I found Dr. Halum and everyone was right. Very polite, patient, and gentle. Dr. Halum and his amazing staff know what to say and how to say it to keep kids comfortable.

Negative experience: If I could give this place less than one star I would. We had been going here for years and the last year or so my daughter has been having major issues with a tooth continuing to crack and we continued to go back and keep having them "redo" the filling on that tooth. After about 4 visits I had a bad gut feeling and went to another doctors office. We had just had x rays done at this office maybe 2-3 months prior and we were told my daughter had no cavities or issues by Dr Halum and his staff. I wasn't trusting it and went to another doctor because of her saying she was in pain and the cracking tooth. Well the new dentist showed me the x rays my daughter has 9 TEETH that need work and it has gone into the nerve which would explain the pain. He also told me there was no way possible this only happened in the 2-3 months since the x rays. Now we have to have a $6k surgery to repair Dr Halum and his staffs neglect. I posted on Facebook and 12 other mom messaged me saying the same happened to them. Stay far far away!!!!

Fantastic experience: Dr Halum, I am so glad I finally found a knowledgeable pediatric dentist who recognizes and treats root cause problems! My daughters surgery (extractions of baby teeth and fillings) with him today went so well. Thanks so much for truly caring about your patients!

They have all types of cute animals and creatures hanging and painted around the office along with two ride ons for the kids to enjoy! I am so happy to have found Dr. Halum's office! He is great, super kindand always has a big smile on his face! The hygienest and all other employees are great and nice as well!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was so nice! My son was very nervous, we had a couple bad experiences before we found Dr Halum. From the moment we came in, we were greeted. When called back our hygienist talked to my son and explained everything. He was more relaxed after she talked to him. I am so glad we found this office, he is even looking forward to his next visit! Fantastic experience: We are so happy we found this dentist! They are always amazing. My oldest used to be terrified to go to the dentist but since him and his little brother started going here they are excited to go! Dr Halum is the best and makes sure to give the best care and is so nice. The assistants always talk to the boys and explain everything and just joke with them. The ladies up front are always pleasant. Ms Bree was great today making the kids laugh! We absolutely love it here. Thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: Best children dental office, the entire staff is fantastic and make the dentist office for my boys so easy. Doctor Halum is so patient with the kids, parents, and makes everything super easy. I also cannot thank Alison enough for all her support with insurance and billing questions, she is wonderful, goes above and beyond, and so kind.

Fantastic experience: You can never go wrong choosing dentistry for children! My kids have been coming here for over 6 years and i have had amazing experiences. Today they had an appointment and my 3 year old was a little nervous until Tricia talked to him and made him comfortable and he was relaxing in the chair while he got his teeth cleaned! She is an amazing hygienist who loves what she does! Her assistant Zee was also amazing! We had great conversation and she made me feel extremely welcomed! Dr Halum has always been so caring and thorough with everything and will answer any questions you have! Being a dental assistant myself i find myself learning something new every 6 months we come! Fantastic experience: My son has been going here for years I think even before he started to get teeth. My son had a tight tongue tie and Dr. Halum was never pushy and always asked questions about his eating and now of course what letters he can pronounce to make sure it wasn't interfering with his daily life. I'm glad that he presented options and left it up to me and my son's progress. My son is now 5 and talking well. Staff is friendly and the environment is always clean as well. Appreciate the experience.

Fantastic experience: Everyone here is very nice and welcoming. My son was nervous at one point and they comforted him so wonderfully so the dentist could continue his checkup. My son left very happy and excited to return at a future date. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: This is the 4th dentist I’ve seen with my children. They are AMAZING. My kids were super comfortable once we walked in. The staff was wonder (some reviews stated otherwise but I can fully assure that’s was not the case) the dentist is incredibly practical in terms of being a children’s dentist dealing with baby teeth. Toni is the only particular name I remember. We will continue to use this establishment ❤️

Fantastic experience: The staff was welcoming and very nice, great with my 3yr old. Dr. Halum is excellent and was gentle with my son, he explained every detail throughly step by step and the cause and effect as well. I would recommend this office to anyone in search of a Dental Office that specializes with kids. Love this place and all my kids will be here until they grow up. I actually wish they seen adults too lol.

Fantastic experience: Dr Halum and his staff have been my children's dental care physician for at least 13 years now and they are extraordinary. Very friendly atmosphere, very accommodating, very informative, and helpful. My kids love them. Scheduling is pretty simple and flexibility is amazing.

Fantastic experience: First let me say that my son is autistic and nonverbal & absolutely dreads doing to the dentist. This place has changed that all for him. It’s perfect! Everyone is kind from the moment you walk in, even the outside has this train & if your kid is super observant like mine, things like that really help him associate that this is a place for kids. He’s at ease before he even enters. You walk in and there’s two rides & the decor is great for kids. They have a train that goes around in the waiting room which my son LOVES. & you barely have to wait at all. Quick service & they get right to why you’re there. Dr Halum is fantastic & all of his staff are genuinely friendly & intelligent. Well informed and happy to answer any questions. Could not recommend this place enough for all kids, special needs or not!

Fantastic experience: Super friendly, caring, they work really fast at getting you in and out. They are very experienced. Dr. Halum ALWAYS greets you with a friendly hand shake and a smile when he walks into your room. He REALLY is gentle with children. If your looking for a good or should I say great dentist...this is your place to go. He takes all kinds of insurance. If your on medicaid they take that.

Fantastic experience: Dr Halum is very professional with great bedside manner. He made sure my daughter, my fiance, and I feel very comfortable with him and his staff. He let us know every step of the procedure he performed on my daughter. Very knowledgeable and very trustworthy. I would definitely recommend him to others.
