Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry

Negative experience: The billing department and especially supervisor Robin is one of the most unprofessional individual I know. I got estimate from procedure for my daughter and they failed to mention insurance does not cover part of it. Our dentist is amazing, but the billing department is the worst.

Negative experience: Consider getting a second opinion if you are told your child needs a lot of work here. We were told to put our child under general anesthetic and cap all 8 of his molars based on a referral for 2 small cavities. They also told us that composite (tooth colored) filling don’t stay well in a baby tooth. This is misleading information. As long as the filling is not too large (just like an adult tooth) a filling can be put in. Preserve as much of the tooth as possible.

Fantastic experience: We love BHPD. They are so kind to the children and really make it a smooth, fun experience for them. My kids even ask when they get to go back to the dentist! My daughter had one very small cavity and they were so helpful giving us options and helped my daughter feel comfortable. They’re all about a positive dentist experience for the kids. We can’t recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: My grandson was comfortable.the app. Was at 800am we got ther sitting in the parking lot when they call to remind the app., a line to check in was handle quick, the wait was quick a good choice friendly, concerning in the issues and carrying to all lil patients.

Fantastic experience: It's was quick and easy. I have 3 kids and we only spent 45 min there. All of there teeth are good and healthy with no cavities! Everyone there is fantastic with children.

Fantastic experience: dr. williams & his dental assistant, alyssa were an absolute pleasure to work with !! alyssa was very friendly, greeted my 1 year old with a friendly demeanor & welcomed dad & i to the back happily. dr. williams again was very friendly - introducing himself to not only mom/dad - but also to the one year old in the room. both were able to work quickly & did not judge, get frustrated or treat us differently when my daughter had gotten scared and began to cry. elise was an absolute charm during the check in process & was ecstatic to help book our next visit. 10/10 recommend & will absolutely be returning!

Negative experience: The experience was terrible. My 13 year old and 17 month old were scheduled for their appointments at 9:30AM and my 11 year old scheduled at 9:40AM. We arrived at 9:20AM but did not leave until 10:45. I was told they couldn't see the 17 month old until the 11 year old was done. No one communicated with me that they were running behind so I assumed at 50 minutes of him being in the back that something was wrong. Come to find out, he was just sitting in the back waiting to. It was very frustrating and we will not be back. We have been going here since my 13 year old was 2.

Negative experience: I went here recently with my son whom they tried to pull 8 of his four bottom and top front teeth. I seeked a second opinion as the doctor who seen him was a women a very rude women she poked my sons gums to the point they bled and she left him crying and I’m pretty sure traumatized she then proceeded to schedule his tooth extraction I then took him to Dakota Dental 4 Kids and there wonderful highly recommend they told me my sons teeth didn’t need to be extracted and they don’t recommend it cause there’s a high risk of infection and other sorts of complications don’t go here if you care for your child’s emotional and physical well being.

Fantastic experience: usually children don’t like going to the dentist but my girls are always happy to come to your office. Everyone is always so kind and professional. I definitely recommend them

Fantastic experience: We had our 3 year old son shatter a tooth and we went to a different dentist to have it looked at. That dentist made me feel horrible, and that it was my fault for lack of care that it shattered. He sent us to Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry to do surgery. Doctor Bradley was wonderful, he told me there was no way the tooth was my fault because the rest of his teeth were great, that tooth must have been malformed when it came in and the other dentist should have caught it. We have been going to Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry ever since,, about 12 years now, and Dr. Bradley sees all 7 of our kids.. I never feel like he suggests treatment that isn't necessary and he genuinely cares about each of them.. We can get all the kids scheduled for the same day which is really convenient! And all of the staff is really nice and helps with the nervous little ones. Absolutely the best dentist in Rapid!

Negative experience: The dentist created a treatment plan that included pulling my 3 year old two front teeth and surgery to place four prefabricated stainless steel crowns on her baby molars! I declined after I did research and found this is a common malpractice tactic of pediatric dentists who accept Medicare. Be careful and do your research. My daughter is in no pain and the risks associated with this aggressive treatment plan far out weigh any possible benefits.

Negative experience: The customer service was amazing. They’re wonderful with kids but the protocols for having surgery is ridiculous. In Wyoming they do not require you to make an extra appointment for a “pre-op physical” just to have fillings done. It’s super inconvenient & causes children to miss more school than they should.

Fantastic experience: Naturally my one year old was fussy and non-cooperative, but the Dr was able to get the job done! The fussiness did not phase the staff at all and they all remained very professional, calm, collective, and helpful. The entire process from scheduling, to the actual appointment and to the check out process almost seemed too easy. I appreciate you all and what you do as I know it can’t be an easy job, hats off to you!

Fantastic experience: Black hills pediatric dentistry is the be a dentist for your kids. The staff there is so friendly and helpful. I have been taking my 3 children there since they were babies. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I would tell every parent to take their kids here.

Negative experience: When my mother would take me back in the early 2000s, they would cap all my supposed cavities. Went to Sioux San (Now Oyate) and was asked why my baby teeth had so many caps with no cavities. Be careful. They've restrained me as a child and would prevent my mom from being alongside me. When I'd cry, the staff would call me a cry baby. Hopefully, it's no longer like this, but I've heard it hasn't changed much. Save your money and child's safety and well-being it's not worth the trauma.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience, my 2yr old did very well with his exam and I credit that to the dentist explaining everything before he started, the TV's in the room with shows about other kids going to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place to take your children all staff including receptionist are calm & patient & understanding. They make sure your children are comfortable. Plus they're always keeping the building nice clean & neat. Definitely recommend 10/10 for sure

Fantastic experience: We have been coming here for the past 8 years. My younger children started out with lap appointments, sitting in my lap while the dentists checked their teeth. My older kids all report enjoying their visits and have commented that the hygienists have been "really nice." They REALLY like Dr. Jones!

Negative experience: My daughter had her appt rescheduled 4 times in a two week period. Which is EXTREMELY frustrating since she is in high school and it’s hard to miss school at that age plus she is in sports and I am a working single mother! Their scheduling is horrible. They dont do certain things on certain days or after certain times. When we got a date picked, I called the day of to double check the time and it was put into scheduling on a completely different month!!! So another reschedule!! Very upsetting!

Fantastic experience: This like every visit was amazing. My kid had 2 cavities and they had an open appointment said they could take care of one of them right away. She didn't have to wait that long went in and they ended up doing both of her cavities so we didn't have to return. She was very happy and express no pain which is wonderful for us. I love this place.

Positive experience: Firstly, I checked in earlier than my appointment time. I waited until 20 minutes after my appointment and wasn't seen. I asked the front staff and turns out I wasn't "checked in" in their system. All together, I waited an hour for a 10 minute visit. Secondly, the staff was exceptional! It was my child's first visit and everything went great!

Positive experience: Staff was all very friendly and helpful! I felt like we waited for a long time to get brought back. Appt was scheduled for 10, got there at 9:45, and didn’t get called back till well after 10:30 so the waiting was the worst part as my 2 1/2 yr old was getting restless but other than that- it was a good experience!

Fantastic experience: We were on the beginning of a long road trip from Michigan when my daughter had a gum abscess from over crowded teeth. Far from our usual dentist, we called here and got a same day appointment when we’d be rolling through town. The dentist and the team were so supportive, kind, and patient with our scared 9 year old and our other 2 kids enjoyed a movie in the lobby while we were there for 2 hours for the consultation and unplanned tooth extractions. My daughter was in a better mood immediately following and for the rest of our trip. It went perfectly and honestly will make for a more memorable road trip (in a good way.). Office staff was understanding as we were trying to obtain our insurance info and staff ended up working late to accommodate everyone. I can’t recommend this office enough, and I wish I had them back at home in Michigan!

Fantastic experience: My daughter at first was afraid to go to the dentist where we live , I asked for a referral to Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry and it all turned out for the better she is 14 years old and loves her Dentist.

Negative experience: Good news: the facility is nice. Bad news: my kiddo and I were no more than a transaction. I couldn’t be with my child during the checkup to ask questions, gain insights, or simply comfort my kiddo. The dentist suggested unnecessary action (latter confirmed by another pediatric dentist) on teeth that will fall out within 1-2 years. They tried to stack the invoice as much as possible. Additionally, I had to recommend a service to ensure my kiddos teeth grow in correctly, meaning they were not patient enough to take the time necessary to ensure my kids teeth were taken care of properly. Lastly, their billing team is either lazy or incompetent. I gave them my insurance information twice to no avail. After paying the bill off, due to being fed up with this company, I called my insurance who confirmed that they never ran my insurance. Go to Dakota Dental 4 Kids. They are everything you could want in a pediatric dentist for your little ones.

Fantastic experience: I have been going here for 10 years with all my kids. I trust and feel comfortable with my children there and the suggestions to help with their best Dental health. Definitely recommend!!!

Negative experience: I took my two kids to the dental office the other morning and once we got into the private room where you go to when you initially get there before your actual time with the dentist. It was our first time there and I don't appreciate those ladies they're like a couple of badgers. Then they went on to telling me that they couldn't accept the x-rays from the other dentist when I know clearly they can for just a regular teeth cleaning and then they tell me I can't go back to the room to be with my kids when they're seeing the dentist and it was their policy that is all full of bologna. Any dentist office that will not let the parent be with their children during the examination with the dentist is not a good Clinic to go to there's too many situations where children get abused as well as adults and dental industry get abused too and you don't know what that medical person is doing to your child you don't know how they're treating them you don't know what they're saying you don't know anything you can't ask questions you can't do nothing I've never been to a pediatric dentist or any dentist where the family member or the parent of the young child cannot go back there. This place is absolutely bad news I called a different pediatric dentistry and they said absolutely your children can come on back with you and you can see the the dentist and you can be there during the exam and whatever they got going on for questions or whatever whatever whatever is the easiest for the children to be the most comfortable and that's how it shoul be. Everyone is better off going to someplace else instead of this place they need to change their Dental practices

Fantastic experience: My son has a missing front tooth in his big cheesy smile now but he is not miserable and in pain anymore thanks to you guys. The fact is he is happy and can enjoy eating and drinking without pain once again. Negative experience: This appointment didn't go well in the beginning we got there in time but the wait time was horrible (45 minutes) before she got called back. Other then that the rest went great. She was scared at the beginning but came out smiling

Positive experience: The staff are always great! Being prompt on appointment times needs major improvement. We’ve been using BHPD for our children for several years and I can’t remember the last time we’ve been seen at our scheduled appointment time.

Fantastic experience: I trust this dental facility to the fullest with my children. I have had nothing but positive experiences with my kids comfort levels, with any questions I may have, with any teeth health advice. I always recommend this place when my friends ask me where my kids go for their dental. Been with them for over 9 yrs now and I have no complaints.

Negative experience: Overall I have been pleased with this office until now. Sure there can be a long wait time, no I don’t go back with my children when they have dental work.. both can stink, but let’s be real, rarely is there a doc office that doesn’t have a wait. Overall, staff has been great….then they recommended teeth pulling for my kid and after getting a second opinion from a family friend who works in dentistry, we decided to wait it out and see if all will be fine (high likelihood it will). I explained this to BHPD, all was good at first. I have since received relentless calls wanting to schedule my child for tooth removal, they not only call my cell but my husband’s cell and work number (both of which we have asked repeatedly to have removed). These guys are worse than the extended warranty for your car. At this point I am taking my kids elsewhere. If you’re one to go with the flow and not make your own decisions, this place will work out for you . Otherwise, stay away.

Fantastic experience: As scared as my son was to be there, not one staff member made it so. They were very fun and professional made me want to be a client too (smile)!

Positive experience: I've gone to BH Peds since I was a child, and they will always be my first choice for my children. That being said, our last visit, we arrived 10 minutes early for our appointment and waited at least 45 minutes after our scheduled time for my children to be seen. That is A LONG TIME for a toddler. It was almost 2 hours for my kids to have their teeth cleaned and for us to go on with our day. I would suggest reconsidering the amount of patients seen in a day. When on time for an appointment, there's absolutely no reason for almost an hour wait past appointment time...otherwise they are a great dentist for kids.

Fantastic experience: So I was actually considering switching dentistry because my child is almost 9 hrs old and he is on an iep so any sorts of medical appointments he is never to thrilled about, but thus visit kinda made me change my mind. We had a new dentist she was older but my son liked her a lot. My son never usally makes it to the way back bu himself but they invited me back and had me with my son while the dentist did there thing and it was thee most non stressful best visit we have ever had . Fantastic experience: My family is a second generation Black Hills Pediatric Dentist family. My two boys love all the staff at BHPD. I chose to take my kids there because I remembered how much I enjoyed going to BHPD when I was young. Although it has changed visually, the ethics and the dedication to youth oral heath is still the same. Keep it up BHPD, we love you!

Positive experience: The actual dentistry portion is wonderful. Always has been since I was a child and was seen there myself. The cost out of pocket or even just their estimations for surgeries are ridiculous. They don't seem to offer any actual payment plan, just expect their patients to have thousands available to pay out of pocket before the actual surgery. Tend to jam that down your throat before they really allow you to leave the appointment. They offer a medical credit card instead, which is just as ridiculous. Let me just take out more debt to cover this.

Fantastic experience: They have gone above and beyond with my daughters rare genetic tooth disease. They have done so much for us, I can't even begin to express my level of how happy I am with them. I also love that they have children go back by themselves to help make dentist an independent and happy experience. The dentists are amazing. I highly recommend them.

Positive experience: They don’t allow parents to go back with your kids. I requested to talk to the dr about it and no follow up in addressing the situation. Please be aware prior to choosing this dental office if you are not ok with your kids out of your sight. Staff is very nice, knowledgeable, and quick to get you checked in and scheduled. Never once met the doctors other than their pictures on the wall.

We lived in another town and everyone suggested taking her here. It was the best decision! Now we live close by so we get to continue our business here. Thank you for being awesome!
