Negative experience: We drive 85 (EIGHTY-FIVE) minutes (yes, that's an HOUR & 25 minutes ONE WAY) for an appointment to a place who CLAIMS to work with families. Let me answer the pressing question--why even drive that far? Well when we initially started going there, my children were young and have needs that required extra attention and careful handling because of past traumas (let me also add that I'm a certified foster parent). So to drive all that way and was only 10 or 11 minutes late (I'm almost sure it was less than that because I was amazed at how fast we made it even after being held up, yet startled by the mess we stepped into) because we were unaware that the city/county had closed part of our normal route. Then to add injury to insult, we walk into complete and utter CHAOS because THEIR INTERNET had gone down (that's what I was told because they weren't able to do check-ins). But then others were telling people the power was down....Like really!?! Which lie is it!???! But I digress, so I'm sitting watching as everyone else are being checked in when I was told that someone would get back to me (that was 33 minutes prior). I take it upon myself to go back to the front desk to let them know that we had arrived BEFORE the five other people/families they had just given check in tablets to only to be told that since I was ONE MINUTE over the limit I had to be rescheduled...and guess to when...five MONTHS out! When we already waited 4½ months for the appointment we were there for today!!!! So my child is supposed to deal with 2 cavities for 10 MONTHS because internet throws your MEDICAL BUSINESS into a tizzy!!?? Now keep in mind, I could have lied & gave a lower time because no one actually checked us in because systems and phones were SUPPOSEDLY down (because I tried calling ahead to explain my issue only to get the answering service) and I waited patiently only to have others served before us because they CLEARLY forgot, overlooked, or didn't care about us. Moreover, given the fact that they turned us away after driving so far one way and waiting so long with two cavities to try to force us to wait FIVE MORE MONTHS clearly screams THEY DON'T CARE!!!!! Oh and I'm not going to stress the missed education, work and gas involved. Needless to say.....another facility will be located. If anyone knows of a pediatric dentist that service the southeast region of Georgia....please let me know!

Fantastic experience: ABSOLUTELY exceed all of my hopes & expectations! My son had his first ever dentist appointment and we had the very best experience! All if the staff very helpful, friendly, and informative. The office was immaculate and the decor an activities really engaged the children. The appointment wait time was non-existent I'm so glad we have found our new dental "family" @ Dogwood Pediatric Dentistry in Statesboro!

Negative experience: My niece had a terrible/traumatic experience at Dogwood. To be considered “pediatric” you’d think they’d be more compassionate towards a sweet 5 year old. They had zero patience and were extremely rude to my sister and niece. I would recommend taking your kid to another dentist and staying far away from Dogwood. My niece ended up going to Surfside Pediatric Dentistry with Dr. Adam in Richmond Hill and had a fabulous experience there. Avoid Dogwood!

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to the area and needed a new dentist for our youngest daughter, who is Autistic. The initial appointment request process was simple on their website. We immediately received a call to schedule. Upon arrival, we were seated less than a minute before being called back. The hygienist was super nice and informative. Our daughter seemed right at home and loved the TV on the ceiling! Dr. Strickland saw Harper and was extremely nice and very thorough. When we checked out, they quickly set us up with another appointment for the recommended treatment and promptly handed me a prefilled school excuse and next cleaning appointment card. In and out in 30 minutes! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We went for our first dental visit today, and the entire staff is fabulous. You're greeted with a smile and welcome as soon as entering. The facility is very clean as well. I have four children total, today I took two of them to visit, they did amazing with my one year old for his first visit. My eight year old did great also.

Negative experience: To say this was a traumatizing experience is such an understatement. Took my 11 year old and 5 year old this morning and both had an awful experience. The oldest only needed a cleaning and said it was the most painful work they’ve ever had done, and they’ve had several fillings in the past. When she expressed pain, the dental assistant informed her that she was fine and it’s her job- she has to do it. The five year old had major anxiety that the staff was aware of and I’ll say- the woman who did the cleaning for her was incredible. She had empathy and patience and she was a diamond in the ruff. The dentist, however, was fully ready to “help pin her down and hold her mouth open to take a look at her teeth” as she’s is hysterically crying and borderline having a panic attack. There’s no empathy or compassion. The kids are all in one big open room getting work done and crying and screaming so it’s already traumatic for children walking in, shoot it was traumatic for ME. Absolutely do not recommend taking your kids here. It’s very “ it’s my job and I’ll do what I have to, to get it done. Don’t care if the kids are kicking and screaming.” And I don’t think that’s how you treat small children in hopes that they feel comfortable. Just a heads up. We move around a lot and have been to many different offices and I’ve never seen anyone working with children approach it this way, it was atrocious.

Fantastic experience: Best experience ever. It was my first time taking my son to a dentist and they were so sweet and helpful even tho he gave them a hard time. They really worked with him and made him as comfortable as possible. Setting him up as a new patient was super easy. The waiting room was set up very nicely for children to play or watch tv. They also had a tv monitor on the ceiling in the back room as well to keep my son distracted. We got a new toothbrush and toothpaste as well as a prize at the end. I can’t recommend them enough from the front desk staff to the sweet lady that cleaned his teeth and the doctor that checked his teeth. Thank y’all !

Fantastic experience: It was so easy to fill out the paperwork online so when I went in for the first visit I just had to really do signatures. They were very friendly and the kids loved watching a movie while getting cleaned. My kids felt so comfortable with the staff and doctors and the appointment went by so easily! Plus the toy after made the kids happy

Negative experience: My little girl had a terrible experience there today to be honest they was very rude to us completely and didn't want to work with her with her anxiety they wanted to be rude and tell her to sit still and stop saying the word ouch completely telling her she couldn't tell them how she felt so I honestly do not recommend this place to anyone at all thanks they didn't even want her to get anything out of the treasure box I had to beg them to do so and they also didn't give her a new toothbrush or toothpaste for going there either like they did the other little girl that went today they was completely nice to them but mean to us thanks

Fantastic experience: I'm always so surprised at how well Dogwood handles my children and their appointments. I hardly ever have a waiting period, they always take me back as soon as I get there. I have 4 children and the staff is so patient with me and all of them(because my life is a circus 100% of the time). I'm usually in and out in a very appropriate amount of time, which I appreciate more than anything.

Negative experience: My children have been patients for 2+ years and have never missed or been late to an appointment. After multiple reschedules and finally getting an appointment I was running late. The parking lot was completely full, I had given a heads up I was running late, and they were still unable to be accommodating for a mom trying to juggle it all. Very disappointed in their lack of empathy and understanding.

Negative experience: If your child needs teeth pulled or has any teeth causing pain then you need to go somewhere else. Almost a year's wait for a tooth that's causing pain to be pulled even after my granddaughter had a visit there and it could've been taken care of THE FIRST TIME! If your child has any problems that will cause them pain then I would strongly reccomend that you go elsewhere because these people DO NOT CARE!! This place is RIDICULOUS and I definitely WOULD NOT RECCOMEND!!

Positive experience: Everyone is very nice and helpful! My son likes going! The only problem i have is they schedule like 3 months out everytime you need an appointment.

Fantastic experience: Excellent with my daughter. He listened to her talk about the tooth and showed her pictures of what was going on to explain why the tooth may be hurting. We went away extremely satisfied and will be back in May for a cleaning.

Fantastic experience: I took 2 grandbabies- handfuls of joy they are! We arrived about 10 til 9, appt was at 9 and they were done at 9:07, it took me longer to get the paperwork updated online that the whole visit. Office staff, nurses, and Dr was very inviting, professional, quick, and helpful. The 3 year old and 1 1/2 year old let them work on their teeth with no hassle Thank ya'll!

Positive experience: Took my 15 month old for the first time, and we loved the dentist and hygienist that we saw. They were patient and kind to us. However, my husband went with me as he just happened to be off work, and he was not even allowed in the office waiting room. He had to wait in the car as they have a one adult in the building policy. I thought this was stupid and very difficult for me as I also had to complete the paperwork in office and he couldn’t even help me with the baby while I filled out the paperwork. This was super frustrating for me & I honestly would consider a different dentist because of this.

Fantastic experience: My child absolutely loves going to the dentist because of Dr. Philip! He’s amazing with his patients and their parents. He always finds a way to connect with my child so they have something to chat about during the visit. Not many kids ask about when they can go back to the dentist, but mine sure does!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Gordon and dental assistant, McKaela, were awesome yesterday when my daughter had a filling and some other dental work done. They went step by step and told her what was going to happen so she would not be scared. They both made everything go smoothly and were super nice. It was definitely a positive experience!

Wish I could have had a dentist office when I was a kid ,like Dogwood pediatrics of Statesboro . Fantastic experience: We have been pleased with our cleanings and our broken tooth that had to be filled in! My boys are 5 and they do not hate going to the dentist. To have a place that lets you go back with your kids, comforts the parents, too. We had a small miscommunication and after speaking with the owner, all of our issues were addressed.

Positive experience: My daughter had her first visit August 2023. Her treatment plan involved 2 teeth being pulled, then another visit to have 1 crown and 2 fillings. The first visit couldn't happen until December 2023 due to their full schedule. We show up for her December appointment, only to be told the dentist was not there and we should have been notified to be rescheduled. We weren't told, by text or phone call, and I had taken the day off of work. We were rescheduled to late January 2024. We came in, treatment was completed with no issues. The next available opening to complete the final treatment was beginning of June 2024. 2 weeks before the June appointment, my daughter was complaining of tooth pain (where the crown would be done). I kept reassuring her we would be seen soon and to be patient. Ibuprofen was my only option as she complained about it maybe every few days. 1 week before the appointment, I called to verify the appointment and to get a cost estimate. The staff verified. 2 days before the appointment I receive a text that her appointment had been canceled, it had been over 6 months since her last exam, and to call to make this appointment. I was furious. I understand there are policies in place. But I had to call and make complaints in order to finally get the dentist to agree to help my daughter and get in on the original scheduled day. The staff were great with my daughter. No complaints there. But staff communication with the parents needs alot of work. I was not satisfied with how we were inconvenienced 2x and my daughter suffered as a result. Things happen, and we finally got the treatment she needed. But I feel like this is a review I would want to read about as a parent of a potential patient and be prepared.

Negative experience: Do not take your autistic child to this horrible place I just drove 3 hrs to be packed in a 5 person room with 15 people in the building with the rude front desk telling my son what he needs to do. He was so uncomfortable please don't advertise that you accommodate to special needs when you obviously do not.

Fantastic experience: I just moved here from South Carolina in December 2023. I haven’t gotten myself or my 4 year old established at a dentist just yet. Needless to say this is my son’s new dentist home! He had a pretty big fall, and busted a few of his teeth..I was able to call them 30 minutes before they even opened the next day, to get him an appointment 10 am. Dr, Gordon was so good with him, and so were the other ladies in the office. I am so greatful so have gotten an appointment so quick. Will go back next week, and my son is excited, despite his injury!

Fantastic experience: My toddler had an incident at daycare and injured his mouth. I called the after hours number and got a very compassionate individual ( I believe her name was Ashley). She reassured me that everything was going to be ok. She promised to call me back the next morning to get me an appointment. I received a call back before 8am and got an appointment the same day. Dr. Gordon was AMAZING with my child. He was so patient and gave me his undivided attention to assure that my worries were addressed as well as explain what the future would look like due to his injury. We are normally seen at the Pooler office ( love them too) BUT if ever I need to be seen elsewhere, Dr. Gordon at the Statesboro office will be my first choice! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Negative experience: I've been to this office twice now several years apart and with different children. The first time we couldn't get my son to stand on the scale he was 3 and scared. They wouldn't let me stand on it with him and then without him. We fought this for a good 5 minutes and they said we were past out appointment time and would not see him. But the next parent to come in stood on the scale with the child and without. I watched it and they got her ready. I was very unhappy. But now a few years later I bring my daughter in. They did great with her. Told me I needed to have a cavity filled but wanted to do full sedation bc of medical issues. I said "that makes me uncomfortable I'm going to have to speak with my husband for this decision" to which I got a very rude response. The dentist said (with attitude) "well no one in this office is going to work on your child under partial sedation so we probably won't be the best fit for you" I tried to ask questions and got a lot of defensive responses. Basically bc I said so responses. I don't do those. Especially when it comes to something with my child. They wrote a prescription for the infection and when it was handed to me the dental hygienist said "this will help for now but you need to get to the root of the problem which is the tooth" with very patronizing tone and mannerisms. (Hands on knees down at eye level with me like I'm a child) I won't go back. Our pediatrician recommended another dentist in savannah that they work closely with and has the same values they do.

Fantastic experience: The best pediatric dentist around. They are so good with my 2 year old. She's always so excited to go. The entire staff is super patient and kind. We recommend them to everyone we know.

Fantastic experience: We are moving out of state, we will travel to use them for our Grandson every 6 months. They are truly amazing. My 4 year old Grandson absolutely loved Dr. Strictland The receptionist was thorough and made she all services on the bill were covered. The rate are very reasonable

Negative experience: 01/23/2024 UPDATE I scheduled my children their recall hygiene appointment as we left the previous appointment and was told NOTHING about my oldest needing to find care somewhere else when she turned 16. This appointment was even rescheduled via phone and I was not told about age or informed she couldn’t be seen! My daughter’s appointment was on 01/26/24 and was told today she couldn’t be seen!!! School, work, and my other children’s schedule was arranged in advance notice to accommodate this appointment. I asked if she could be seen this one time and moving forward she will be established elsewhere? NO! Every time we have came to this office there have been issues. We will not be returning at this point. The most disappointing part about this: I have been in management in the dental field for 7 years and never have I witnessed such a disastrous experience. my husband and recently moved to the area and had to find a pediatric dentist for our 4 children. Our first appointment for one of our children was AMAZING! The hygienist pulled me to the back to discuss what she saw, brushing areas that need work and etc. Dr. Phillip went over and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable as well, discuss future treatment and also orthodontics and why he sees the need for it. Overall I was pleased and impressed. However and unfortunately our recent experience was not as pleasant. My 2 daughters were both new patients and were seen by another doctor. Both of which had cavities, one needed braces. NEVER THE DOCTOR came out to discuss this needed treatment. And I NEVER had the opportunity to speak with her with my concerns, it was the hygienist and front desk. However other patients were being brought back to the operatories to speak with the Dentist. Very disappointing considering we paid almost $400 for one patient. We have never had this type of experience where the children had exams by the DENTIST and the parents never saw the Dentist to discuss the appointment and treatment needed. Disappointed as to how we were treated.

Fantastic experience: This place is great! Not only did they fix what a previous dentist messed up for my daughter, they did it with kindness and great service. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this office for kiddos!

Positive experience: I love majority of the staff. They all speak and treat you with kindness most times unless they having a terrible day. However, my daughter went to get a tooth removed a few months prior to today. They told me they would try to put her to sleep, but when I arrived they were going to try to pull my 6 year olds tooth without medication or putting her to sleep. So when she freaked out bc she also had an ulcer that I told them about they still said it was okay to try we ended up rescheduling. Today was her appointment to get it removed for her to be put to sleep. As a mother, my first thing I thought about was to feed her because the appointment would be two hours. She’s 6 so I know she’d be hungry, but I forgot that she is getting the tooth pulled. So then I had to reschedule. I know it’s my fault. However I am a single mom with little to no support. I called back to see if they could still give me an excuse bc I don’t have transportation to take my daughter to school. In fact, I take the modivcare van through her medicaid to her appointments. The lady at the desk Amber said unfortunately we can’t since she didn’t visit. Then she got snobby about it saying uhmmm yeah okay. I think there should be some forms for things that happen like this. I do not want my daughter missing school. Yes it was a total accident and I know some people try to beat the system, but I am not one of those people. I am a tired single mom. I have no parents. No family that supports me. Kindness goes a long way. When it comes to the healthcare field I realize that the staff is sometimes short staffed or they allow their personal issues overflow into their professional careers. I’ve seen many other complaining about some similar experiences. It will be okay though. God always provides.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been going since she was 2 and is genuinely excited to go. The women are super friendly and good with my daughter. She gets to pick her prize after getting her teeth cleaned and watches the bubble feature on the wall. Very clean office as well

Fantastic experience: My son has Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is very apprehensive about new experiences. And sometimes medical appointments can be a complete disaster. This was NOT OUR EXPERIENCE AT DOGWOOD!!! The staff was warm and welcoming. The facility was clean and modern. The hygienist, Kara (please forgive me if I've misspelled) and Dr. Phillip Gordon were extremely patient and caring and did an awesome job with my son!!! The visit was stress FREE! And parents of children with behavioral development concerns understand how truly important that last sentence is!!! Thanks so much Dogwood Family!

Fantastic experience: I took my niece and nephew in for their first dental appointment today and everything was great. The receptionist called to make sure that we knew where to find them, check in went smoothly, the wait to be called back was not an extended one, the dental assistant was very friendly and made the kids feel comfortable, while talking them through every part of their cleaning, and the dentist was very polite and knowledgeable. I am glad that we decided to go with this office. I think we are going to love it here!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful folks would recommend it. My grandson has Asperger's autism and he doesn't like change. His last visit last week he usually sees a female dentist and this time he saw a male dentist he did perfect

Fantastic experience: The place is a clean environment. Very nice staff. My son was comfortable. We love Dogwood. They also answered all of the many questions I had without aggravation.

Negative experience: Office experience was great but when it came to my child having to have surgery not so great. My childs surgery was cancelled without my knowledge because the office didn't receive a "clearance form." Instead of communicating with me to let me know that the form was not received they decided it was best to just cancel the surgery. The surgery that we have been waiting months for was cancelled without warning. I have taken off of work and made arrangements for that day and when letting the office know that I have the form I was told that I couldn't reschedule.

Fantastic experience: This was our FIRST experience with this office and I could not be any more satisfied . They were extremely nice and compassionate, especially with my almost 2 year old (first dental experience) . My 10 year old, who’s seen another dentist in the past had VERY positive things to say once we got in the car . Dogwood will be their dental office from here on out !

My son has never had a issue with going to the dentist and he has been going here since he started seeing one. They always make it comfortable for the child. Positive experience: I am usually always so pleased w/ the friendliness of the staff & how helpful they are. I don't usually have any issues, but this last visit left me a little disappointed in the staff & how they handled things. 10 minutes before my daughters 8:00am appointment I received a text message that read in call caps: (GOOD MORNING FROM DOGWOOD PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY. UNFORTUNATELY, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE LATE PATIENTS AT ALL TODAY. IF YOU SEE YOU ARE RUNNING LATE OR UNABLE TO KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT, PLEASE GIVE US A CALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE). We were already in the car when I saw this text & I immediately called the front desk at 7:58am. I knew we would be a few minutes late, but no more than 10 minutes, but I still wanted to inform them. I was told on the phone by one of the ladies who worked the front desk that I would need to reschedule though we had yet to arrive yet & I told her we were on the way & that we would be less than 10 mins. late. She said they were short staffed today & had a busy schedule. I asked her if would could please just get there & see, she didn't seem interested at all in trying to work with me. We arrived at 8:08am & I was greeted by the same lady on I spoke w/ on the phone trying to reschedule my daughter's appointment already. I said we were just 8 minutes late & usually we have to wait sometimes before my daughter even is called to go back. I asked them if there was any way they would fit her in...I said we are here now & just 8 minutes late. That same lady, who I think might be a new employee ,as I have not seen her there before, was looking up for the next date to reschedule my daughter & at that same moment, a dental hygienist came out from the back to call my daughter back. So I don't know what was going on internally between the staff communication. It seemed to me that the staff realized they were short staffed that day & were trying to take on too many patients. I think it was rude & inconsiderate to send out a text message like that to patients 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment. We are never late, but that morning we got out of the house a few minutes behind & it was a rainy day. At any doctors office or dentist office there is always a 15 minute window. I also have never seen or gotten text messages like that before with any of my daughter's previous appointments. I am grateful for the dental hygienist who did call my daughter back who may or may not have known what was going on up front. We have never experienced that before. I don't know if there has been a staff turnover, but my daughter also didn't get her usual dental hygienist (Stephanie) & she could tell the bed side manner was different & Stephanie usually steps out to speak w/ me to let me know of any issues or if things look good. I did not have anyone update me & that was unusual too. It could have been an off day for them, as it was an off day for us being a few minutes late as well.

Negative experience: The Male Doctor was great . Now for the review My kids needed to each get a fill in. The doctor stated they could both be done on the same day in front of the nurse . When he walked away she stated actually we can’t do them on the same day because two kids cause received the relaxed meds at the same time. I said what if my husband waited in the car so that we could each carry a child and I wouldn’t have to take off multiple days from work . I was still told no. When I took my second child back for her fill in . There was a mom there ALONE. With THREE CHILDREN. Two were asleep for procedures and to top it off the nurse behind the counter helped the mom carry the child out to the car. Meanwhile I was told there was no alternative for me except for missing two days of work . My daughter cried during her procedure from pain and nothing was said about it and they didn’t tell me . Her mouth was opened so wide she had little like swellings /cut on the sides and she’s only 7. This experience over all was not pleasant .

Fantastic experience: We had our first visit today and I have Nothing negative to say. Our visit was fantastic. There was no wait in the lobby or for the dentist. Everyone was super nice, and our little one loved the atmosphere! So glad we switched!

Fantastic experience: Even though they cried during x-rays this time, my children called it the best dentist visit ever. They love the shades they wear during the cleaning, the treasure box, and the toothcare goody bags they get each visit. As a parent, the staff is polite, attentive, patient, and understanding. It would be hard to find a better dentist. If only they serviced adults, too

The staff always talk about how well behaved the kids are & I tell them it’s just because they love coming here! They feel so comfortable and trust everyone here! Fantastic experience: The staff is Awesome! They are so nice and friendly. Our appointments are quick and easy. My boys actually like going to the Dentist! They love choosing a prize out of the Treasure Box at the end of their visit.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved it. Super patient. Everyone was so kind from the time we entered the doors. Loved all the tvs, including above the dental chair, to help keep the little one relaxed. My little says she ready to have her teeth cleaned again. Such a great experience for a first visit to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Strickland did an excellent job during surgery on my daughter. He was very direct and answered all the questions we had. We seen Dr.Boaen Smith for the initial visit and she was very sweet and very direct as to what needed to be done. I wouldn't have asked for a better staff for my child!

Fantastic experience: The doctors and nurses are super good with children. They made my son feel so comfortable and at ease during his cleaning. The office is very kid friendly and family oriented. They have tvs everywhere including mounted above the dental chairs and they always have kids movies playing. They also have a photo wall where you can snap a pic of your child after they are done. Just awesome!!!

Fantastic experience: We drive a little over an hour to see them and it's well worth it. We have been happy with all our kids treatments and all the advice they have given us. They are all so friendly and carring. I trust them with my 2 teenagers and my 2 toddlers. They are great with all ages. Edit: we tried a few new dentists closer to us and then called Dogwood back. I would rather spend the gas to go somewhere where my children feel comfortable. My 5 year old has ADHD and does not deal with things like other kids. Every dentist we went to, she was stressed out for one thing or another. At Dogwood she never even second guess what's going on. After her appt today at Dogwood, she told all the family how nice of an appt she had. I am so happy with them

Fantastic experience: This is a great Pediatric Dentistry. Everyone is friendly and there is nothing but smiles coming from the staff. Dr Gordon was willing to answer any questions I had and didn't make me feel bad for asking them. They made my children's first visit to the Dentist so fun for them, they were asking to go back.

Fantastic experience: I've been to many dentistries and Dogwood by far was the best more like a spa experience geared for children at the dentist. The entire office is thoroughly cleaned regularly as you can tell because it is always immaculate I have three children who have all been here and seen different providers and it's always been the same above and beyond great experience highly recommend hands down overall great experience.

Dr. Strickland was quick, thorough, and my son loved him and the assistant. Very sweet and friendly staff - from the first call to the time we walked out. Fantastic experience: I was at a loss at what to do about my daughter having a horrible toothache. No one could help her or give her an earlier appointment than what she already had with another dental office. Dogwood dental offered to help her a week earlier than her scheduled appointment and squeezed her in to help take her pain away. The staff are welcoming and the doctor is very informative and compassionate. I’m pretty sure we’ve found our new pediatric dentist!
