Fantastic experience: Had a cracked tooth. My doctor was Dr. Yao, the assistant was Ruby Dr. Yao was extremely informative about every step of the process and my options before and after (removal or crown. Bone graft and implants. etc) During the process Dr. Yao was very attentive as well. Made sure i was ok, and (this is the best part for me) explained every step she was doing, why she was doing it, and what to expect as part of that process (ex, if i hear a cracking sound, that's completely normal and to not panic) A special thank you to Emilia (one of the assistants at the front) for helping me find a payment option that worked for me ^-^

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to Glendale, but we drive to Huntington Beach for the love and care we always receive from Dr. Khan, his brother, and his very special team. This time, it was a bit of emergency: I broke a back tooth on Labor Day, apparently a very old filling or crown. Well, Dr. K returned my Tuesday morning call right away, asked good questions, made space for me to be seen ASAP (takes us about an hour + to get there) next day. He and Art and Ruby diagnosed the problem, cleaned things up, and fitted me for temp and permanent crowns within about an hour, with novocaine and careful numbing - pain free. Art was able to rush the permanent crown, thankfully, and within just about a week they were installing the new crown (very awkward spot in the way back). It took great precision and care to make sure the new crown was just right. They were patient, concerned for my well being throughout ... and worked as a wonderful team. It turned out great! We look to Smiles Cafe for all of our dental needs, for many years now. Between dear husband and me, this includes cleanings, consults, implants, crowns, cavity attention, extractions and more. Always, always they bring us great technical skill, state of the art techniques and equipment, and most of all full attention to each of us in just the right ways. Thru the whole practice, from front office to final outcome - from hello to goodbye, see you next time, they really, truly CARE.

Fantastic experience: Helpful and very friendly. I found the whole experience great. Everything was explained thoroughly and completely before any work was done. Fantastic experience: Very professional and friendly service. They have all the latest diagnostic equipment. With my first visit I realized how far behind the times my previous dentist was. Just had my third visit today and I’m very happy I found this place! Deana the hygienist is awesome, and Dr Kahn is very thorough. UPDATE AFTER A COULE YEARS: Everything still great here. UPDATE: Still very happy with SCD. Had two very old crowns replaced. Art did a great job with the temporaries. Dr. Khan did his usual great job. Amelia was great with insurance suggestions since my current insurance isn’t good. Still loving all the high tech equipment here. All the “power tools” are so quiet. The X-rays are so low dose Art just uses a handheld device, and remains at my cheek. The image is on the big screen in a second. It’s nice having all the latest technology. Highly recommend this place.

I’m especially impressed with how he administers his pain free anesthesia shot every time I visit. He has a special proprietary technique where you can’t feel a thing. Next thing you know, your gums are numb, he gets to work, and before you know it…you’re leaving with a happy smile; like dayum, I never though I would like going to the dentist! And shout out to his incredible staff, who are just as caring and all so amazing. From his wonderful hygienist (she’s so awesome), dental assistants (all incredibly lovely), and his friendly receptionists (kind and welcoming). Fantastic experience: The staff was very nice. It had been a long time since I had been to see a dentist. They took all precautions because of covid 19. I was very happy about that. My cleaning was very thorough and Deana was gentle and explained everything to me. Dr. Khan was very nice as well and made me feel comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr Khan and his staff. UPDATE: Since I wrote this review I have had 6 crowns replaced by Dr Kahn. Painless. No pain with injections or when he was doing the procedure. No pain or soreness in my mouth afterwards. I am over the moon pleased with him and his staff. I will never go to another dentist. He is the best and a very caring, gentle man. Love him and his staff!♥️ UPDATE: Since I wrote my last review I need to mention that Deana cleaned my teeth last week. She asked me how I was doing and I told her I was having my knee replaced. She told me about a laser procedure that she could do on my gums. She did not push me to do it. After she told me I wanted to do it to kill the bacteria at my gum line. She had time so she proceeded with the treatment. This makes me feel confident that I took one more step to insure that I won’t have infection travel to my new implant. Infection in a replaced joint is very serious. I want to avoid at all costs. Thank you Deana and Dr Khan for looking out for me. You are the best!♥️ UPDATE: Last week I went to see Dr Khan about a painful issue I had been dealing with for over a month. I was so happy they were able to see me. My tongue has been hurting on the sides. Very sore. He was very kind as well as the rest of the staff. He gave me a thorough exam and called in a prescription for a mouth wash. I will be back in two weeks to be checked again. I appreciate his concern and I feel confident I’m going to get better. Thank you Dr Khan for your thorough exam and putting me as ease. You are the best! 09/08/24 UPDATE: I went in for a cleaning with Deanna. She is the best! My teeth felt like new. Dr Khan came in to take a look at a back upper tooth he was concerned about. He was watching it. It was determined that he would do a filling in that tooth. He is so gentle that I opted not to have an injection. It was completely painless and I’m very pleased with his work. He is the BEST!

Fantastic experience: I was impressed by the professional service provided by the staff and Dr. Kahn. My questions were patiently answered and the quality of the dental care provided was exceptional. Before any work was done I was provided a cost break down of the dental care care recommended. Once the services were provided Dr. Kahn reminded me that if I had any problems or concerns arose contact their office. The problem would be corrected at no cost. An issue did arise, and I contacted Smiles Cafe Dentistry. I was contacted and provided an appointment on the next business day. Dr. Kahn assessed the issue and took steps to rectify the problem while apologizing for the inconvenience and reaffirming there would be no additional cost. While reviewing my dental x-rays Dr. Kahn noted a shadow on another molar he had not previously noticed. He did a CT scan of the molar (at no cost) and confirmed there was no issue of concern. Bottom line, honest, caring, professional service is provided by Smiles Cafe Dental office. I would recommend them to anyone I cared about for their dental care needs

After several horrific and/or painful experiences with other dentists I was terrified when I woke up with a toothache that progressively got worse throughout the week. Dr. Khan, Dr. Yao, and the entire staff are kind, patient, informative, and gentle. They turned my anxiety and fear into confidence and positivity. I ended up having a tooth extraction and a nasty infection to get rid of and they made everything quick, painless, and affordable. Fantastic experience: updated review: I needed an infected tooth extracted the other day and It couldn’t have went any better. Doctor Khan and Art tag-teamed in removing my tooth so gently and confidently. It was painless, efficient, quick, and the post care was a lot better than I thought. The technique they used in numbing me made it so comfortable, and I absolutely hate needles. They were communicative and made me feel like I was in control the entire time. He takes his time and makes sure you are comfortable during the treatment. I had sensitivity and inflammation on a tooth and although I already understand the dental lingo, he still took his time to explain the reasons why I needed to change the crown on my tooth. After we completed everything I needed, all of my teeth feel amazing and it makes me want to take care of them that much more. As a dental hygienist, I can say Dr. Khan has the best dental work I have ever seen from a dentist. He has the heart and dedication to provide only the best work to the patients he cares so much for. Fantastic experience: My first time at Smiles Cafe Dentistry. The reception staff were very cordial and accommodating - they helped get my insurance all figured out. I had two fillings repaired by Dr. Yao. She was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and competent. She explained everything to me clearly including showing pictures of the teeth that needed work. No discomfort at all receiving the novocaine or with the work itself. No problems afterwards as well. One of the best experiences I've ever had at the dentist's office. I now understand why their online ratings are so high.

Fantastic experience: I took my 96 year old father to Smiles Cafe Dentistry; I wanted to see if there was anything they could do to fix his dentures. He has other challenges and I was worried about how this would turn out. Much to my relief the entire process from the (very) first call, and through the end of the initial visit was all fantastic. The staff was friendly and courteous and professional. The doctor was amazing and used new technologies to assist in the exam process and to get impressions needed. He was able to get so much of the process completed and was so easy going. I am just grateful they took the time to examine my dad and develop a POA to replace the dentures to improve my dad's standard of dental health.

Fantastic experience: Every quarter I go in and get my teeth cleaned and checked for any issues. Dr. Yao and Deanna always provide 5-star service and are very considerate of my well-being throughout the entire cleaning process. 10/10 recommend. Clean teeth, stronger gums, confident smile, and great goodies bag with a new type of toothbrush I've never seen before.

I get really bad anxiety from past bad dentist experiences from my childhood but his whole office knew how to help calm my nerves. They are all amazing and were so sweet helping me entertain my baby during my visit. Dr. Yao performed my wisdom tooth extraction so well that I didn’t feel a single thing. Fantastic experience: When I moved to Orange County from the Southbay I needed to find a dentist closer. I am a scardy cat when it comes to the dentist so I need an office that has a lot of patience. It also runs in my family that we need extra numbing. I am glad I was able to find doctor Khan and his team. They are super patient and kind. They also give me adequate numbing so that I am not in pain during the work. I highly recommend this office for your dental needs !

Fantastic experience: I’ve finally found a dentist that I feel actually cares about my dental needs who shows interest in my follow up appointments. Although I was there for a cleaning with the hygienist (Jessa, love her!) Dr. Tahir Kahn took the time to come into the room and asked her to take X-rays of my recent crowns/bridge. His concern is genuine. Everyone in the office says hello and actually speaks to you. Gee, what a concept Love my Dentist, and his staff is so kind. Update, Jessa has left the office, and Deanna Has been my hygienist for the past few years. Everyone in this office, from the receptionist on up is congenial, kind, and efficient. It’s been about 3 years, and I’m still happy I made the move!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I both visited to have fixtures placed for molar implants and had great experiences during our appointments. Fantastic experience: It has been awhile since I’ve had a dentist visit (if you can relate don’t let that fear of the dentist deter you) and came to Smile Cafe with an emergency toothache. Not only did they get me in same day, but they performed my emergency tooth extraction same day so I could get some relief from a nasty tooth infection. Lily and Alejandra walked me through the steps necessary so easily and made me feel safe and comfortable while doing the procedure. Honestly the whole thing was way easier than the scary stories I made up in my mind. Highly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: I needed a dentist fast to fix an issue with an implant and the Doctor and staff here saw me immediately!! They greeted me with such care and fantastic humor, I felt instantly at ease. I am so happy I have decided to switch dentists!!

Negative experience: Be very careful if you choose this dentist. I came in for a consultation and the entire experience was HIPAA violation. Not only did the consultation take place in the WAITING ROOM, the dentist told me another patient's FULL NAME and then showed me her xrays, which her name, DOB, and medical information on it. He then went on to explain what was wrong with her teeth and how he fixed it. I was totally alone in the dental office as the dentist and his assistant were in another building (?). If I was a bad person, I could have stolen all the information, all the medical devices, and they wouldn't have realized. They would come back out of breath from the other building, and it all felt very rushed and scrambled, even though I had scheduled this appointment. I was quoted two totally different prices for my desired service, the second was double the initial quote. When I brought it up, the dentist said, "oh we'll just do the lesser cost". What?? What dentist is willing to just eat the cost like that, when it is double the cost? The dentist told me that because I am young, he won't do my implant, he only does it on older people where it "doesnt matter if it looks good". WHAT? If you come here, your medical information is at risk and the quality of service you get is based on your appearance and age. Good luck!

Fantastic experience: I had a great first time experience for myself after leaving my previous dentist. My son had been diagnosed with having 10 cavities at our previous dentist. And my first instinct was to get a second opinion. My intuition told me that something didn’t seem right. I was referred to Smiles Cafe Dentistry and they only found 2 cavities in my sons mouth. Both dentists in the office looked at my son and confirmed that he had been grossly misdiagnosed. Luckily due to their training and experience, catching this misdiagnosis saved my son from unnecessary dental interventions that could’ve caused more trauma to his teeth. Thank you

Fantastic experience: I can’t rave enough about Dr Khan and his staff. They’re personable and truly caring. I’m having some issues with old dental implants done by another doctor. Dr Khan is working with me so I can have the best solution possible. I am so grateful to be under his care. I recently moved 25 miles away, the natural thing to do would be to find a closer dentist. Fantastic experience: Always a great experience when I visit Smiles Cafe. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Khan for many years. This recent visit I had not been in for 2 years due to lack of insurance and they worked with my schedule when I requested to come in during spring break. I even received a call to come in earlier that day when there was a cancellation. I saw familiar faces when I arrived and was greeted by name even after 2 years of not being there. Genuinely good people work here. I always feel comfortable and that they are all doing honest work, which is hard to come by with dentist offices in my experience. Fantastic experience: I haven’t been to a dentist since pre shut downs. I had a severely damaged tooth and horrible pain. Every interaction from the front to the doctors was incredibly conscientious, caring, and detailed. They got me in and take care of so quickly! I felt seen, heard, and understood. I was recommended out to an Endo and that doctor was very aligned with the values and care of Smile Cafe. Ultimately my procedure was completed thru Smiles Cafe and it was pain free and reduced my anxiety to zero. I chose Smiles Cafe based on the recommendation of several others. My experience far exceeded any expectation I had and I am so happy to have found a dentist office for ongoing care.

Fantastic experience: Last week I had a major appointment for preparation for a crown placement. This involved lots of drilling and lots of Novocain. Unfortunately I seem to over react to Novocain which causes problems for me during procedures. Even though I had to stop the procedure several times for a break, Dr. Khan and his assistant were both VERY encouraging and patient. I appreciate them so much. Best dental team ever! If you have dental anxiety or concerns, you won't find a more understanding dentist than Dr. Khan!

I feel this is an extremely honest and very professional office! Everyone was so warm and welcoming! I will be moving my family to this Dentist for all future needs. Fantastic experience: Took my 93 yo mom here today. Staff is very friendly and Dr. Khan was clear and thorough about explaining procedures and options. Highly recommend this dental practice. The only downside is their parking lot is quite small and tight.
