Positive experience: I have been coming here regularly since 2018 when it was horizon one. I LOVE my dentist and have had great experiences in the past which is why I wanted to keep it 4 stars for the rest of the office.. but today just had an awful experience with the hygienist Ana. Horrendous people skills and overall the appointment was very unpleasant and made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. She was incredibly condescending towards me. She doesn’t listen to things you say or remember your responses to her medical questions and asks the same questions no less than 5 times. I understand people have bad days, but after getting off the phone with my friend who just reiterated the same experience with her recently, I can’t believe that it was just a bad day. I’m thankful that I don’t have dental trauma but I know so many people do so if that is you I would request to stay clear of Ana as your hygienist. I don’t need freebies, but this was a first to not get travel sized things at the end, and upon walking me to the front not so much as an acknowledgment before she walked away coldly. Others at the office have been great. The rest of the office is fantastic and I’m so thankful for the staff that always chooses to make it a great experience.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with Dr. Vilanova and her assistant. They were both professional, kind, and made me feel very comfortable throughout my visit. The care and attention to detail they provided was outstanding. Highly recommend their office for anyone looking for great dental care!

Negative experience: I’m very disappointed with this practice. I have periodontal issues but work hard to keep it under control. I ended up here when it was Horizon and a participating dentist. Three years ago they presented me with major treatment plans yet my teeth are fine. I don’t care for large corporations with no compassion taking care of my teeth. No personal interaction. I found an individual dentist who doesn’t accept my Delta Plan so I’m dropping my Delta Plan and dumping Sage. I need a more personal interaction with one dentist who knows me.

Negative experience: we had a bad experience today at sage dental. on my wife's insurance she is to get two free cleanings twice a year from a delta dental preferred dentist. I asked the reason she had an extra charge and they told me she had a special procedure and no longer would she qualify for standa

Negative experience: The staff here are very pleasant. Issues I had as a new patient: -they nickel and dime you for everything, you have to request items be removed from your bill because they add it on first, and next thing you know, you’ll have a couple hundred dollar cleaning -they want ALL new X-rays, even if you had them done recently. This should have been my first red flag, because with insurance these extra X-rays were $81.40 out of pocket, and they just wave a crusty iPad at you asking you to sign, barely giving you time to look over the “treatment plan” -They will try to add on an $109 electric toothbrush, $90 water flosser, $30 special mouthwash, a $5 tongue scraper. The first 2 you have to ask to be removed from your bill because they won’t just hand them to you, the last 2 will be shoved in your “goody bag” at the end and you won’t realize they’re going to charge you for it -“insurance specialist” aka the assistant manager comes in to go over your “treatment plan” and what your insurance will cover once you’re already in the back, which feels like entrapment and coercion. The best part is she didn’t even know what some of the items listed were and I had to ask her to get the hygienist to explain. -your first visit will just be X-rays and meeting the dentist, when literally all I wanted was a cleaning. I wasn’t told this ahead of time, but thankfully they had availability to also do my cleaning the same day -the hygienist Angie spilled etch (phosphoric acid) on my lip, causing a 2nd degree burn. The dentist was notified but at first it felt like they were gaslighting me by saying I was allergic to something instead. It wasn’t until the dentist mentioned etch that the burn on my lip sense (the dentist did call me later on in the day to make sure I wasn’t dying but I still have a 2nd degree burn on my lip) Overall while the staff is nice, the practice has an awful deception strategy to max out your insurance and get you to pay for more things out of pocket.

Negative experience: Dentist for over 10 years I started going here in high school to Dr. Kuhn as my Mom and her husband also went here not sure who their dentists were. None of us go to this office anymore. No problems until about 3 years ago when I had tooth pain we had that fixed and after still having pain I went back again again and they said it let’s do the tooth next to it we did that still had pain so I continued to go back time and time again still in pain eventually we got to a root canal and after still having pain there they sent me to Root Canal specialist who fixed me up about a year ago and I haven’t gone back since. Now that’s it’s been a year and I’m looking for a new dentist to go to for a cleaning I wanted to come back and let anyone that is experiencing anything similar to maybe look else where for proper treatment

Negative experience: This place took over from the old dentist I used to see. They try to upsell you on everything and are one of those companies that try to max out your dental insurance. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Do not make an appointment unless you want to waste your time on having a manager come in to go over an outrageously priced plan. Beware is all I can say.

Everything is done in the same building: cleanings, repairs, surgeries, and lab work. I am a patient of Dr. Bacos, who does everything possible to save existing teeth. Though all of the staff that I have crossed paths with are amazing; Julie really goes above and beyond, making sure you are comfortable and anticipating Dr Kuhn’s needs, allowing him to focus on you.

Negative experience: After cancelling two appointments when they were transitioning from horizon to sage when I finally went for my cleaning they pushed a ridiculous deep scaling and all the add ons which ended up @$1,755.00 for 1/2 the mouth?!?!? so yes $3,510 for a cleaning.. when the dentist came in for the "evaluation" after he did, I said I have no cavities or fillings, he said "really, let me see" this was after his "exam/inspecting my mouth"?!?!? what did he look at?!?!?!/ always got compliments from hygienists how clean and easy it was to perform their cleaning, when I went back for my second cleaning they had a different hygienist without mentioning the change prior,, not a huge issue, it just falls in line with the "all about money" mindset they have not to mention if you give them your cell number you will get non stop alerts, texts, etc... everyone has to make money but it is sad how many businesses only focus on the pay and not the patient...

Negative experience: Zero stars completely unprofessional. I was getting pushed on for unnecessary treatment. I want just a regular cleaning and I have every right to request that they kept telling me. No they also said that no dentist will do a regular cleaning on you and you must do this. It’s like putting a Band-Aid on a cancer patient if you don’t do this cleaning it won’t do you any good they said that the cleaning was originally gonna be covered at 100% then changed their mind and said it was $162. I asked them why the change she was rude and said if you would’ve listened to me in the first place, you would know We’ll never ever be back.

Positive experience: Great staff for the most part and very knowledgeable and efficient. Could see me and my wife the day of. Will say it seemed like they were trying to upsale a bit but other than that highly recommended.

He is gentle with his procedures and tells as well as shows you everything he is doing to make your teeth and gums healthy , while educating you along the way. Negative experience: On my first visit I knew I thought I had the right Dental office to have work done in my mouth from the get go. The front staff was very kind, professional and considerate. Dr. Boches conveniently forgot to ask for a "barrier" that seals the root after a canal is performed. The issue I have with this company is part of a procedure performed being charged ($383.00) as a new procedure when the doctor was already in the exact area of the crown. Should have been billed as an "ad on" which is correct. Plus I was pressured by the doctor saying, " if you don't do this now problems will arise later." So I had to sign the acceptance screen. Totally shammed by this. I would not recommend going to there office for trustworthy experience.

Fantastic experience: I came to Sage because of (imo) money grab by Aspen Dental. “AS” wanted to pull 4 teeth (my appt was for a cleaning as I have never had issues with my teeth or wisdom teeth). Sage did not think they needed removed, but did agree with the periodontal diagnosis. Staff is professional, friendly. Anlana and Dr. Boches were the best. They took the time to answer my questions and explain everything that was and was not covered by my insurance. Highly recommend this office.

Positive experience: Dentist and Hygienist were great. My only complaint is that office business should be discussed at reception or prior to your appointment; not when sitting in the chair. Also, please realize when someone has had the same insurance for 20-30 years they may have a better understanding of it than you. You shouldn’t argue with them but try to understand them instead.

Negative experience: After being a patient at Horizon One for 7 years I gave Sage dental a chance-- big mistake. They make you feel like a number not a patient, they upcharge for absolutely everything now and the front office staff is rude. I found Dr. Almasi at Surfside Dental and followed her there couldnt be happier with my decision.

Negative experience: I scheduled as a new patient a cleaning with this practice. What I got was X-rays (that I had to pay a copay for), gum check, a brief conversation with doctor and a huge estimated bill presented by the account manager!?. I got a suggest $70 dollar estimate for extras on the cleaning that is covered at a 100%. Just felt pressure to do all the extras they suggested. Felt like a number and not very personable.

Fantastic experience: Went for a cleaning. Ana did a great job. She gave me very good, understandable directions while making the visit as pleasant as possible ( for visiting the dentist). Also, I was seen on time which shows respect for my time. Check in and check out was very easy. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: It was fairly easy to make an appointment for my mom whose crown had come off, so we decided to give Sage a try. The staff were nice, but after a one hour wait to be seen and seeing five other patients come and go before mom was called back was a bit disconcerting. This first impression was very disappointing and we will probably not be going back to Sage.

Positive experience: The scheduling was difficult. Person A doesn't know what person B did which made it confusing. Other than that the people were extremely nice that helped us. They made the experience extremely pleasant.

Negative experience: At my last visit I was told that I have periodontal disease and was given a deep cleaning as a result of this diagnosis. This cost me out of pocket $400 because my insurance coverage only paid for a regular cleaning. I was also told I need to come every 4 months for a cleaning. I decided to seek out a new dentist for my next cleaning because I felt this was not right. My new dentist did a thorough exam, measuring each tooth pocket and they ranged from 1-4, NOT periodontal disease! I feel that this practice is only focused on profit and not care. Do not go, they will only get your money and you will not get the care you deserve.

Fantastic experience: Felix was exceptionally diligent in educating me regarding the purpose and use of the cavitron, respecting my wish for hand tool cleaning only. He also fully demonstrated flossing technique which I obviously have been doing not to the full benefit and can hopefully improve the health of my gums, along with using Paradontax. Very kind, not critical, but helpful!

Negative experience: Both the temporary crowns are fuzzy and I just lost one. The other is broken at the bottom near the gum. It wasn’t my dentist fault because the Tec was the one who put it in. I’m very happy with my dentist but now I’m at the Florida Georgia line with one lost temporary crown and one cracked?

Negative experience: Downhill since new ownership. Lied about cost for my son's treatment then I got a past due notice after I called twice to resolve issue because I received texts that I owed money, when I did not. Longer wait times. This is sad to me. Horizon was the best and my entire family was going here. We are now looking for a new dentist. I am giving them another chance Monday and will update my review accordingly.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. High pressure right from the start to get an expensive "deep cleaning" which I felt my insurance wouldn't cover and of course they only covered part. Odd that the insurance company AND my previous dentist from six months ago found it unnecessary. Their text and call center schedulers are not in tune with the office, so I was also scheduled via phone for a visit and showed up when the office said my insurance determination hadn't come back yet, but what do they care about a wasted drive. Scheduling is also difficult because they don't use modern technology to check patient portals for real time results. In turn, people can expect to wait a great deal of time due to them waiting for snail mail determinations. Going in their office feels like being on a bad television show, so happy to go somewhere else and not feel pressured and scammed.

Negative experience: I am very surprised by this high Google rating, as it definitely does not reflect reality. I personally did not have a good experience with them. The staff was rude and did not seem knowledgeable about their work. I had to find answers to some of my questions myself because they did not adequately address them. Additionally, they are the most expensive place I have encountered. Last year, my wife had a root canal done here, but when we visited a different dentist this year, the tooth had to be pulled because the root canal was performed poorly. The new dentist even commented on the poor quality of the work. Do not rely on their high Google ratings; I truly have no idea how they received such positive feedback. Something does not seem right.

Fantastic experience: Very pleased with the customer service and treatment from this office. Everyone is very polite and everything is explained in detail. Definitely will be coming to this office for any future dentist work needing to get done.

Rogelio Igelasius. I am on oxygen and he was very aware if I needed a brief break. The front desk people need some customer warmth which is why only 4 stars.

Negative experience: This used to be one of the best dentists in fort myers, but since sage dental took over they have gone straight down hill. I had a filling done and the dentist was so over booked that they went and worked on someone else for twenty minutes in the middle of my appointment. that isn't the worst part about a year later the filling fell out. when my hygienist quit they didn't even tell me, they pretended that they still worked there and said they were sick and put with someone who could barely speak english.

Negative experience: Tired of being overcharged and having a credit they never give back! It clearly said my service was 85% covered and they charged me as if I was 70% covered, even when it is written on the front of my insurance card. You have to pay upfront. Financial person claimed they called my insurance and that is what the insurance company said. I went out to my car and called. The insurance company stated that Sage never asked for the amount of my coverage, they only checked that I HAD coverage. Plus the visit includes a $10 patient copay and $10 PPE charge? Unnecessary!! I have had refund due since APRIL 2024. Still waiting ... Where is it SAGE? With all the dentists in the area, don’t choose here!

Fantastic experience: I have had some very bad experience with other dentist office but EVERYONE at Sage dental has been so polite, professional, and patient with me. I am so pleased with them and the Dr's there.

Negative experience: I never leave reviews. I been going to Horizon dental for years and I always receive the best service and didn’t feel like a number. Sage dental I can’t say the same. I went to Sage for my cleaning and appointment, they couldn’t find my Florida blue insurance in there database so I had to pay the whole thing out of pocket. After I left they finally found my insurance it’s been over 6 months and won’t reimburse me. I call every few weeks and I get put on hold for at least 30 minutes every time. Just disappointing …

Negative experience: I'm a new patient and everything was great. Until I asked about the price of a item. The girl made me feel like I was being scammed. She got so angry with me for asking her for the the price. For a price on a mouth guard I think she was making it more than it's worth..I don't know what that place is doing on filing but I'm not going back there for anything else I walked out .. never got a new patient package

Fantastic experience: Joslyn (sp??) was very kind with x-rays and with going over estimates/paperwork. Rogelio was the best dental hygienist I have had for a long while! Please keep him at that location. You will find better compliance with repeat clients if you do. He is very thorough. The front staff was also very kind and willing to answer any and all questions without hesitation. Quality work.

Fantastic experience: Great dentist, assistants and hygienist. Waiting area is clean and pleasant to wait in. UPDATE: I had an emergency during the Covid19 shutdown. Horizon One was able to accommodate me and the staff was extremely vigilant about cleanliness and sanitation. Update: Practice has changed name to Sage Dental (sold?). Very happy with my new hygienist (Felix) and believe that the care is as good as Horizon.

Positive experience: Good cleaning except next time will refuse Gingival irrigation. Not necessary. Also only have 3 Quadra due to cancer surgery but was charged for 4.

Super disappointed my last visit and my husband and kids won’t be going back. Found a great new dentist elsewhere at Pure Smilehub in fort Myers if anyone’s interested! Negative experience: My husband and I had a very disappointing experience at Sage. In the past, we loved coming to Horizon Dental and seeing Dr. Kuhn. We both felt the care was excellent and charges were reasonable. The past 2 visits, for just a cleaning were more expensive than we have ever paid. I will say Jennifer was a good hygienist but we haven't seen Dr. Kuhn for the past 2 visits. In the past, he would always come in and do an overall exam. We do not have dental insurance but a plan with Medicare that will help with dental expenses and several of the charges were denied because they were not recognized by Medicare. When I called Sage , I was told one charge was a "corporate charge" and the $40.00 charge was for a mouthwash rinse. I asked if I could get more info to resubmit and was told the " no insurance ever pays for it so there is nothing I could give you." I told her my family would seek dental care elsewhere and she said, OK, have a nice day. I only give one star because Jennifer was competent and pleasant. Diane

Negative experience: Totally Horizon than it used to be when it was horizon one dental waited over 40 minutes to see the dentist. They are short-staffed No one seems to know what they’re doing. Everything seems very rushed and disorganized. Not sure I will stay there. Love the dentist, but that wasn’t the experience that I’m used to

Fantastic experience: Everyone from the front office staff, Frankie who did my x-rays, Dr.. Bakos, and the young lady that checked me out were wonderful. Dr Bakos had Frannie take a panoramic x-ray, decided he didn't need the other x-rays so that saved me some money. The quote they gave me for dentures was the lowest one I received. I received the referral I needed to see an oral surgeon, and received an appointment in just 3 weeks or so. I am very satisfied after my first visit. Kathy Monty

Negative experience: Don’t go here!!!!! I recently moved to the area and came here bc I loved my sage practice on the east coast but this place was TERRIBLE! They have zero compassion for someone with a fear of the dentist, they spoke to each other about me as if I wasnt in the room and they wanted to upcharge the cleaning AND did an optional X-ray without telling me it was optional that they don’t bill to the insurance so now they’re saying it’s due out of pocket !!

Negative experience: I'm saddened to write this review as I have been a patient of Dr Kuhn's since I was a kid (20+ years). He made going to the dentist tolerable and I honestly loved Horizon One in general. I know people retire and eventually I was gonna have to get a new dentist but this practice did a complete 180 after being bought out. The atmosphere is different, gone is the professionalism, I haven't seen the Dr in a year when I used to see him every visit. The first cleaning I had was rough and a tad traumatic. I gave them another chance because I really liked Dr. Kuhn. Yesterday was supposed to be my second cleaning but I was told I needed a deep cleaning that was going to cost me over $200 dollars with insurance. I told them no as I didn't plan on having to pay anything today. My hygienist and some person (they didn't introduce themselves just randomly walked in) proceeded to speak in Spanish and then offered $50 off....HUH? I said No again, I just want a regular cleaning. They refused so I left. I have no issues with my teeth, the "pockets" they found were near my crowns/root canals which are fine and the "redness" was from them poking my gums so hard. I wasted my day for nothing and walked out appalled. I called and scheduled with a new private practice dentist closer to my home from Sage's parking lot. All good things come to an end eventually I suppose.

Negative experience: My wife and I have been going to Horizon Dental, now Sage, for 15+ years. Today, we both had new hygienists. Both of us experienced painful depth probing to start and immediate upselling of irrigation, electric toothbrushes, and fluoride. Seriously, I had to almost yell at my guy and walk out of room. He was putting depth probe in till it stopped and then pushing even harder causing perforation and bleeding. He then insists my gums are naturally bleeding from lack of care. I even had to tell Dr Kuhn because my hygienist was arguing back that he was a professional and I’m wrong. My opinion is Sage dents is all about upselling and their hygienist are being hired like cattle. Poorest experience in 15 years from both my wife and I. Never experienced pain from a routine cleaning visit.

Negative experience: You will be waiting up to 45 min or more just to have your scheduled appointment for cleaning! The receptionists are not informative or helpful. Had to ask a couple of times when I would be called, they still couldn’t give n me a definite answer. Would not recommend them!

Negative experience: I have had no issues with the employees here, but ever since Sage took over from Horizon One, their booking has been awful. At Horizon One, we had a family appointment scheduled every 6 months for cleaning, with 0 issues. Since sage took over appoinent times change or get cancelled with no notice, so now, rather than going in as a family and getting everything done at once, we have to go back multiple times. Looking for a new dentist because of this.

Fantastic experience: Today was my first visit and I was very pleased with the doctor. Also, I was very pleased with Kara who assisted the dentist. My entire vist was a great experience from entering unto leaving.

Negative experience: Do not Go Here. I have been a repeat customer, have a standing six month appointment for cleaning. Two days before my July appointment I received a call to reschedule, they were unable to schedule me until 9/6. Called this morning to reschedule, once again the hygienist has left the company and they could not get me in before I leave on vacation. Called 3 times & texted 2 times to get a copy of my records! No one has been any help!!! Will have to get in the car and drive 1hr round trip for something that should be easily emailed! Also very rude young lady on answering the phone! Customer service is what a good business is built on. Will Never recommend this company.

Fantastic experience: Dr Villanova, the Assistant Cayla and the Hygienist Anna were amazing for my new patient appointment. Very comforting. I work for a local award winning orthodontist and have 12 years educated dental experience myself so my standards are pretty high on care and understanding my needs, time and financial constraints. Very happy with this office flow, chairside manner, people and technolgy. Must check out!

Fantastic experience: Got in on time to have my teeth cleaned. Michelle is a great hygienist with a bubbly personality. Took the time to explain any additional services provided. These are my choice. Looked into my concerns I had. In and out! Still love this place. 8-9-2024 update: this practice was bought by a Corporate Dental Group. The level of service is still there. However, like other corporate dental groups, try to get you to buy into a dental “plan” so you sign on the line for way more dental commitment than you need, in my opinion. It’s not to say you don’t need it. However, most dental plans don’t cover the majority of the work. Thus a large portion is out of pocket.

Fantastic experience: This was my 3rd appointment with Sage after having moved to the area. They came recommended from a family friend, and they have not disappointed. They are very upfront with treatment plans, pricing, and expectations. Everyone is very friendly as well.
