They explain the processes well and are precise and careful, avoiding pain and solving problems. The admin staff is likewise courteous, efficient and professional. I think this may be the best dental practice I’ve been to in a decade. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: My dental appointment was great. I was seen within minutes of arriving. The hygienist was personable and professional. The exam by the dentist was also excellent.

Fantastic experience: I was there a few days ago and they took care of my teeth, however 3 days after I left I ate popcorn and all of a sudden there was a gap in between my teeth. When I got there the dentist told me "oh that was glue, but let me just chisel you tooth" I told him no I don't need it, but he insisted so that he can get a diagnosis to charge me. That is disgraceful and shameful Dr Barton.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was on time, efficient and nice. A problem from prior dental work was discovered and I was sent away with a referral to a specialist. Some practices might have tried to handle it in house. Sending me out was better for me.

Also huge shout out to everyone in reception! I noticed a loose crown Sunday night you all were able to squeeze me Monday afternoon and had me in and out of the office with a new crown in just over 2 hours. Absolutely, top notch professionalism, efficiency, and friendliness from everyone at your office. I couldn't be happier.

Fantastic experience: This dental establishment is the only one to use a microscope to detect parasites like spirachetts, amoeba, and trichomonas in the gums. These parasites cause many other diseases. I believe that all dentists or hygenists should be required to use a microscope to protect their client / patient from disease. Fantastic experience: If a dentist visit can be fun (let’s be real), Dr. Murphy delivers. I recently relocated to Baltimore from Birmingham, AL and needed to find a new DMD provider. My search was accelerated when one of my molar crowns broke. The office got me in the chair within 48hrs and fitted with a new crown within 90 minutes. You are in great hands with this practice!!!!!

Fantastic experience: When I walked into Baltimore Uptown Dentist, I walked into an office full of friendliness, compassion, respect and warmth. The caring that BUD showed to me was well beyond caring for me as a patient. They cared about me as a person. I was undecided about what dentist to choose, they all seemed to be good. I received a birthday card from BUD BEFORE I was a patient. Receiving that card was the deciding factor for me. The office was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The office is located inside the secure Social building. There is parking in the rear of the building. BUD is blocks away from Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame and Loyola Universities. There are restaurants nearby. My hygienist Sandy was the best. She carefully prepared me for Dr. Murphy. She explained my condition and the treatment options expertly. She showed extreme care and love in her work. Even in retirement, she works with enthusiasm. Her love for her job and her patients is evident. My second hygienist’s name is Sandy 2, she is great also. Tami is the absolute best. She thoroughly explained the cost of every phase of the process. She is thoughtful and meticulous. Her years of experience show. She cares deeply about her work and her patients. She could not care less about Google ratings. She is the type of person that you would want to see in any business that you walk into. Dr. Murphy is a skilled, talented dentist and his artistic hand is revealed in his work. His expertise was well above anything that I expected. His resume is impressive and his credentials are amazing. He is an accomplished dentist but remains humble and unpretentious. Dr. Murphy is a very patient teacher. It is obvious that he loves what he is doing and doesn’t mind sharing his skill with anyone who wants to learn. He is a part of a rare breed. You would be hard-pressed to find a better dentist. He is a master. KD, Heather and Reanna were my techs. They are all great. Their work is accurate and careful. They are adept and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to deal with everyone else in the office. You are likely to meet Katie when you first walk in - wonderful woman. You will probably see Lyda on the way out - another wonderful woman. Then there is everyone in between; Trey, Roxanne, Aisha, Tonia, Kylee, Gil, Sherri, Dr. Barton, Dr. Welzel – all wonderful people. All focused and professional. I would highly recommend BUD. If you are still looking for a great dentist and haven’t chosen BUD, you are wasting valuable time.

Dr. Alex Barton came in to further examine my teeth and both made recommendations that were spot on. I love this office and the staff. Positive experience: Kudos to staff, particularly the oral hygienist! Received a thorough nearly painless teeth cleaning But I am unhappy about losing control. The x-ray ($93.00) was not requested nor was the brief oral evauation by the dentist ($77.00). Problems on the x-ray had been noted 6 months earlier.

Fantastic experience: I remain loyal to Dr.'s Murphy and Welzel. For years they have poked, polished repaired and rejuvenated my teeth and gums. I just had restorative work on 2 teeth. Fantastic experience: I've recently started as a patient at this practice and have been very satisfied with my experience. The office is clean and cozy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. As an autistic adult, dental visits pose a unique challenge with sensory issues. The staff spent extra time to understand my needs and discuss a plan to mitigate as much overwhelm as possible. I have already recommended to friends and will continue to do so.

Negative experience: The doctors and the guy who cleaned my teeth were very nice, helpful, and informative. I got serviced at this off one time. Payed 500+ dollars while using some insurance. Asked for an itemized bill and confirmed the payment of everything before getting serviced. Two months later, I get a e statement saying I owe $30. When you click on the statement it dosent say for what, it just said that I owe. I emailed back, never received a responded so I called. They said I owe $30 for pictures . Pictures that they needed that they themselves took. Then said they try to do their best when it comes to the bill. No, I made sure before I got serviced of what I was paying for, that's why I asked for an itemized list. To send a statement with nothing on it then just expect me to pay? I paid it, but I'm not coming back. Rather not have any more surprises.

I saw and spoke with Dr. Welzel. She is an excellent doctor and I was concerned that I haven't seen her. Fantastic experience: Update (12/24): I highly recommend Shanelle and Gill as hygienists! They are both very patient, knowledgeable, and thorough. They do such a great job on my teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Murphy! So, this is my first time having work done at his office, but I can honestly say the experience was fantastic. Since my primary dentist is in another state, I came in due to a dental emergency. First, his office was the only dentist (after calling several) who could accommodate me on such short notice. Second, he personally attended to me. Third, the work done was exceptional! Fourth, the customer service (including the front desk staff) was warm and inviting. I’ve been looking for a new dentist since moving to the Baltimore area, so I definitely will be returning! Thanks again, Dr. Murphy for seeing me on short notice. I’m very appreciative.

Fantastic experience: I found this dental practice some 12 years ago on Facebook when I was in need of a root canal. I’ve been there ever since…even through the transition of Dr. Murphy retiring. He picked the perfect person Dr. Barton to take the reins. Dr. Barton is a kind soul that is gifted in his craft. This practice has friendly staff that make you feel at home no matter who provides the services. I can’t imagine going to another practice…EVER!

Fantastic experience: Since 2010 I have loved this dentist office. Love love love it... And I have tried a bunch of times to go to one closer to my house (as this one is about 30 min away) yet I continue to go back. The office staff are refreshingly polite, speak to you when you arrive, and treat you like a human on the phone vs some annoyance bothering them. Oh and each of the hygienists are absolutely fabulous. They take their time, educate you about the health of your teeth/mouth, and treat you like family. You’d be crazy to go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Seeing as though I have had a severe, I repeat a severe and straight panic when I think of going to the dentist & that is mildly putting it. I have been this way since I was a child one bad experience Dr Layton pediatric whatever, he and his heavy hand along with struggling to put a raincoat on a 6yr old that’s another story!!!! Up until now, I never wanted to go to the Dentist. My anxiety and fear always took first place so, I always put if off and waited till the last minute which is why I am in the situation I currently am in today. I never go out of my to write any reviews. Period.! But if anyone deserves or needs a shout out. I will shout from the rooftops of how different of an experience this place is.. Beside his Clark Kent , freaking Superman looks which is just a pure bonus, his knowledge, his knowno how, his light handed touch with an explanation of everything happening at the moment .. He has totally changed my view, my mind, my fear and honestly I have clearly come along way because, I now look forward to every appt. Seeing the change and feeling my confidence building I look forward to the rest of my extremely thorough and incredible dental plan which was done with myself and my dentist. Basically holding my hand, helping and guiding through what I need to get done and, how and where to start. How we/me can financially get it all done without taking a small mortgage out !! Yet, not cutting corners but helping to get the most help I need.. not to mention the staff WOW they’re insanely cool everybody there is so welcoming I’ve actually become friendly with a couple special people. Fantastic experience: Always welcoming, I enjoy visiting the dentist office!! They have been efficient, my teeth never looked better, and they are up to date on new ideas and techniques. I feel like I am in the best care ever!!!

Fantastic experience: I'm a regular patient of this practice and very satisfied. The staff are all excellent and I'm pleased to be in their capable hands! Dr. Welzel is excellent! So nice to be able to walk to this practice from my home!

Negative experience: Awful visit today and 3 months ago... have to find a new dentist after almost 20 years and Dr. Murphy sold his practice to retire.... not getting into the details here ... I wasn't going to leave a review as people suggested I do... but then I got a text asking me to leave one LOL Sandy my hygienist also retired and new person completely disappointing in too many ways to list And really what's the point in listing it all so they can apologize publicly etc etc and refute... Lots of texts from them .... nothing to smile about.... really awful and I'm sad

Fantastic experience: Dr Barton, Dr Murphy, and their team are the best. Great with my kiddo and thorough with me. Professionals in a clean, welcoming space.

Positive experience: I was surprised when Gill transitioned me into getting my first cleaning since Sandy retired. He did a great job after a longer than usual time in cleaning the Plack off my teeth. He also was good in his suggestions for maintaining my teeth.

Positive experience: I love this dental practice....but this is the second time I have been told I've been checked in and then wasn't. Sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes....finally went to the desk to ask and again, I hadn't been checked in. The office manager was wonderful...and gave me a courtesy discount. But it took up an extra 40 minutes of my day because I wasn't checked in as stated. The subsequent care was wonderful. The lack of 5 stars is only because of being kept waiting with no attention.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr. Murphy’s for well over a year now. I came to them with an extensive list of dental issues. They made me feel at ease and put me on a year long treatment plan to rectify. Today, I called last minute because I was in a great deal of pain, that ultimately resulted in an emergent root canal. They again, went above and beyond and now I’m at home, enjoying an evening with my family, pain free. I highly recommend this group.
