Positive experience: I have going to Southern dental for almost 41 years. Pat, the hygenist has been great all these years. I am not happy with the insurance department. They told me I had a $35 copay and I told them I didn’t but had to pay. I checked with the insurance and I was correct no copay. Plus why would I have a copay during the middle of the calendar year. I wasn’t told I had one in April. Not happy with the insurance section. They also provided a cost for crown and listed I owe $50 deductible which I don’t. I am considering finding a different dental clinic. Also I wasn’t not given a receipt showing the breakdown of the visit just the breakdown for work for the crown. As long as I have been going there I should get a friend and family discount.

Fantastic experience: The staff was warm, and friendly. I felt at ease, not afraid or nervous, especially with the dentist. A big thanks to Jessie, she explained every step, to make sure I knew what was happening.

Negative experience: I called for an emergency dental appointment only to be told their definition of emergency dental is to schedule me a few weeks out! Even though it clearly stated call before 430pm and you can be seen the same day. Fraudulent!!! Based on this is suggest DO NOT USE THIS DENTAL SERVICE FOR ANYTHING EMERGENCY RELATED OR REMOTELY TIME SENSITIVE!!

Fantastic experience: My appt at Southern Dental on Nov 3, 2025 was very satisfactory. Dr Cupp and Shelby, my hygienist were professional and pleasant. It was only a 6 month routine checkup. It went very well.

Fantastic experience: I found Southern Dental on Google when I had a tooth emergency, and am new to Savannah, and I’m so happy I found them. They were able to fit me in quickly. The front desk staff is friendly and kind. Dr Burton and his assistant Jessie were great at explaining everything, making sure I was comfortable and at ease during the procedure, and I never had to wait long. It’s also affordable. I highly recommend. You can trust them.

Negative experience: Me and wife are on Medicare plan. This company signed a contract with our dental insurance company and excepted their rates. My wife got her teeth cleaned and they did some other procedure, that she asked did her insurance cover it and was told yes. We received review of claims and this other procedure was denied, but said we owed no money for procedure or cleaning. Insurance paid agreed amount for cleaning. Now they are trying to balance bill us for remainder. Called insurance company and they reassured us that we owed nothing. Called billing, with no luck. Called insurance company again and they said they were trying to balance bill us. Now they are threatening us with collection agency. We have asked Medicare involved.

Fantastic experience: Southern Dental Center has taken care of my teeth for the past 23 years. I truly appreciate Dr. Cupp and his staff. There are some amazing people working at Southern Dental. Get your smile on!

Negative experience: Been looking for an Emergency dentist for immediate care! This place would not take us to be seen on the weekend! I used to work for a dental office and this is ridiculous dental emergencies can and will kill people and y’all just expect someone who’s having issues to wait until Monday?

The dentist always comes to visit during my cleanings and he is super knowledgeable and focused on improving my teeth. Definitely a great place of business, clean, professional, inclusive and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Waiting time wasn’t too long I went back and waited some more time then I got to do my x-rays. I was in so much pain they were able to see me for an emergency same-day appointment! I got medication for the pain and was referred to a surgeon all in all a necessary appointment.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely LOVE this dental office. My insurance had changed last year and I had a dental emergency requiring an extraction. I was able to get in quickly and was greeted by courteous staff from the moment I entered to the moment I left. Had my second appointment with Dr.Cupp yesterday and can honestly say that I am thoroughly impressed. They definitely deserve all of the Best of Savannah awards they have received, and that’s saying something as I am a nurse in a physician office so I know how hectic things can get. Kudos to Dr. Andrew Cupp and all of the staff for the continued excellence!

Positive experience: I have always had a good experience here. My last appointment was no exception - EXCEPT they did not let me know in advance that I was not seeing my usual dentist. This has happened to me at other practices - and I do not appreciate being handed over to another doctor, with no heads up. As a courtesy, practices should understand that we pick our doctors because we want to develop a relationship, and we want them to be familiar with our medical history. Not informing patients that they will be with a different doctor is poor management and poor customer service. Otherwise, I have no complaints about my experience here. But that’s a big misstep for me.

Negative experience: Very poor communication skills, I told the employee that was on the phone with me, I need a certain procedure done and she book me for cleaning, which I had no idea until I called today. Not only that I’m trying to call for billing at their hours and no answers or call back. Also the last lady just got off the phone was very frustrated with me and seem like she doesnt want to help. Very disappointing experience.

Negative experience: Southern dental is a very awesome company. Reminds me of the dental facility I used to go to in Atlanta. These people here are off the chain. Good. I would recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: BEST DENTIST VISIT EVER!! Not even downplaying it! I have such bad anxiety about the dentist, like to the point I get the sweats in the chair. Today, I went in for a new patient appointment since I’ve avoided the dentist for a while since my last tooth fiasco at another group. I was super nervous, but as soon as Kay pulled me back, I felt her positive vibe and felt way better. She talked through every single step and kept me updated, she even did a whole relay race walking back and forth between me, the xray, and computer and did not skip a beat. She took care of me and was very efficient and thorough. The doctor was great too, bedside manner was fantastic and he was personable. I even met with their financial advisor to go over a mouth guard and then I met Ms. Pearl too and she was wonderful taking scans for my mouth guard. Overall 10/10 for my visit, so thankful I picked this group based off my insurance website. A great dentist is hard to find, but this one is it!!

Negative experience: The lady that answered the phone needs a new job. Why sound aggravated and be the opposite of helpful when your job is to help others?

Positive experience: I love my dentist office. Everything seem to be organized. Everybody is polite and courteous and professional.

Negative experience: Not impressed so far. Never in my 29 years of living has a doctor’s office told me I’m scheduled for an appointment, then I show up for said appointment, only to be told I’m not on the schedule. I’ve been waiting for a whole month just to be seen and now I have to wait another week on top of it. Not to mention wasted time and gas.

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed my experience! I'm just now starting back on my health and wellness journey and it's been a pleasure having the opportunity to start this journey with Southern Dental. I enjoyed the staff, the conversations, they made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions. I look forward to a bigger and better smile in the near future!

Fantastic experience: Had an incident at the gym where my tooth cracked. So had to find a dentist and came across this location. Had to say it was a good choice. Had to end up getting a root canal and Alayna and pearl were awesome getting me ready for the procedure and walking me through everything. Dr. Cupp is great at what he does,from hearing past experiences with people getting root canals they were always painful. But I can honestly say I felt nothing and no discomfort at all. Will be going back to continue my procedures and getting my smile where I know they can get it.

Fantastic experience: Southern Dental Center Savannah is quite the drive for me, but it is so worth it. Like many, going to the dentist gives me anxiety. The moment I enter their clean quaint office, I am greeted with Ms. Jackie’s beautiful smile and sincere welcome. Kay is my dental hygienist and she relieves my anxiety with pleasant conversations and is sensitive to my needs. She is incredibly smart and takes time to educate me and answer all questions. Dr. Cupp is very friendly and also takes time to educate and answer questions. He is supportive without making you feel judged. I find their pricing to be reasonable. If you need a dentist, look no further.

The check in process was easy, they saw me immediately,, Pearl was really pro, fast and calming, the Hygienist was in and out and informed me clearly of the oral situation, the Dentist had a fun, human vibe and took time to chat about life for a sec and upon leaving, another associate and I had a terrific exchange. I just moved here and as silly as it sounds, establishing terrific medical/dental care makes me feel like Savannah is my home, not just where I live. Thanks! Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with how well my dental appointment went. I was having a bridge replaced with a tooth being removed. I was anxious when I entered the office. I am pleased with the temporary bridge and look forward to having the new bridge put in place.!

My appointment was "Awesome" the staff had great bedside manners and Dr. Cupp was truly a professional. His demeanor and caring attitude was noted. He in my opinion is the epitome of his profession. Negative experience: Hey people......don't feel bad.....I went in for a denture realignment and they forgot about me. I sat in the chair for over two and a half hours. I must have been stupid to sit there all that time and they had the nerve to even charge me a penny. So there.

Fantastic experience: After a very bad experience at another dental facility, was so fortunate to find Southern Dental. Courteous, PROFESSIONAL, and worked hard to assist me with an end of year claim. Left there with my procedure completed, feeling well advised, with several additional appointments set for the next couple of months. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

Negative experience: I called to check prices there and they told me 160 for the visit and one x-ray so I told them thank you anyway I can't afford it. Then they call me back same day at 6:45 pm told me I could come in on the November 21 at 2:00 and it would only be 90 dollars since I didn't have insurance. so I got there today on 11/21/2024 and they told me that it was a call service and what she told me wasn't true and that you can't trust there call service so I wasted my time and gas going up there for nothing when they're the ones that called me back and told me a lower price and then when I got there told me 160. So in my opinion this place can't be trusted. Seems like they don't have their business together and if they don't have their business together then that concerns me how well they actually fix teeth and if they do a good job or not. If your office and staff and call service doesn't know what they're talking about or doing then it makes me think the doctor doesn't know what he's doing either that's just my experience in my opinion. I wish they never called me back and lied to me because I waited all this time in pain thinking I was going to get my tooth fixed. All I got was to run around. And I didn't feel welcomed when I got there.

Fantastic experience: I live in Pooler now but I still make that 30 minute drive to be seen at Southern Dental. Dr. Cupp does an exceptional job of explaining everything during procedures. And Pearl was absolutely amazing, she made sure I was comfortable the whole time and put in extra effort to get my appointments set up and answering all my questions. This team truly enjoys what they do.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed meeting Dr. Cupp, Pearl, Alanna and Pat. Its not often one can arrive at a Dental office as a patient and leave feeling you've made new friends--even to receiving comforting shoulder pats while the Dr. did an extraction. And how nice it was to see all the children's and patient's pictures posted at Pat's station where she cleaned my teeth. That says much about her too. Even the ladies at the front desk welcomed all with a smile. It was a very nice experience all around...

Negative experience: I love Southern Dental! Dr. Cupp and my hygienist Brittany are the absolute best. Thank you for always providing professional and courteous service. I definitely miss the old crew! Brittany was the absolute best and Dr. Cupp is great! However, a lot has changed in 2 years, multiple changes is staff including management. I was a faithful customer since 2013, I was seen every 6 months until October 8th, 2024. The new management team states they are "cleaning up old accounts" and noticed my insurance didn't pay the intended amount and asked for payment in full....which of course I declined to pay. Now I have been discharged from the practice and the claim is so old NO ONE, not even SOUTHERN DENTAL can find the claim number for me to dispute! Dr. Cupp, this staff will definitely run away long time patients like myself. I have 2 other family members and several coworkers I have referred over the years and I have cautioned them ALL! The good days of Southern Dental are OVER! I hope $216.46 was worth it! One very dissatisfied former patient!

I believe he truly cares about his patients, he is very nice, never seen him in a bad mood, and he takes time to explain things and you do not feel like you are a stranger. Positive experience: The hygienist And Dentist were very nice and thorough. However, the hygienist accidentally popped My permanent retainer off while she was cleaning my teeth. As a result, I had to pay an additional $81 to have it put back on. I Don’t feel like I should’ve had to pay since I did not cause it to come off. Other than that, the visit was fine
